We didn't know the area well and the last few lunches we had at this location were average. One girl that used to work in the area, came up and said "oh, we have to go to Paul's market! ". I was skeptical because it sounded like we were having lunch at a grocery store. Turned out, it was a butcher shop and deli with a great menu. We were a fairly big group and they worked their way through our orders efficiently as well as the other customers. They gave the kind of service I like when I eat out. I asked them what the best item on the menu was they asked me a couple questions, gave me a recommendation. (the Italian stallion.) and asked me some follow up questions about condiments, they answered a few more questions and they delivered! When I was looking at sides to have with it, he told me the sandwich was " hefty". He was he was right. A lot of times when I'm out for a quick bite I might swing by a Jimmy John's or a subway just to get a quick sandwich, but this was an example of why it's always best to go local. While we were in the ordering process, the guy who looked like the butcher and was also the owner came over to check and make sure we were getting our needs met. He was very busy, but he even made it outside once we all were served to check on things and thank us for coming by. I had a chance to look around and noticed the full valley of barbecue fried chicken and all their sides. I went over and looked at the meat counter in the steaks and other items looked fantastic. Not what you find at the grocery store. As someone who worked in the food service industry in high school and college, my standards for good service are relatively high. This experience reminded me of my days at a locally owned family run business with great food and great service and a responsive staff. Now that I know where this is when I'm in North County that's where I'll be stopping

I love that it is small and family owned, love supporting any small business! They had very healthy and meaty oxtails, steaks and wings. They had several other things but I kept it pretty light for the first visit! I absolutely love that they offer hot food as well. The service was fast and friendly. I'll be back!

I come to Mannino's almost every week to purchase lunch meat and raw meat, but I'm becoming…read moreincreasingly concerned about the sanitation practices at the meat counter. There are several young employees who repeatedly fail to change their gloves when going from handling raw meat to slicing lunch meat. I have personally had to remind them to change their gloves on multiple occasions. Today, I watched the same employee pack raw ground beef for another customer and then, without changing his gloves, go directly to the lunch meat counter and begin slicing her lunch meat. This is especially concerning because I have personally reminded this employee of the need to change gloves in the past. Handling raw ground beef and then ready-to-eat lunch meat with the same gloves is a serious cross-contamination concern. I really like shopping at Mannino's, but management needs to address this immediately and make sure employees are properly trained and following basic food-safety practices. I would hate to see someone get sick because these procedures aren't being followed.
