The security at Sonoran Spa in Rocky Point Mexico is abusive and and tries to intimidate guests. The issue was literally over towel that was hanging on the railing. He came up to the room told us to take it down, which we were more than happy to do. He continued to speak in an abusive time telling me over and over "its the rules, its the rules" Not that I cared but there is literally no rule saying you can't hang a towel on the railing. That wasn't the issue. The issue was the fact that the security guys especially the supervisor who refused to give his name. He was abusive and tried to intimidate, and when I told him he couldn't do that. He put his finger in my face. At that point I told him he needed to fuck off and he couldn't talk to guest that way. especially over 1 towel on the railing. He then challenged me to "Come outside you will see." I finally asked for his supervisor, but they refused. And then removed us from the hotel. The security is out of control and the hotel has no control. If you have kids, this is not a place for you. Angel Soto is the security supervisor who refused to deal with the situation. BTW if you try to complain they will call the police and you have 0 and I mean 0 rights. they will remove your entire family. We had a good time here because of the amazing beach right outside the door. The rooms are all condos owned by many different people so you never know what you are going to get. We stayed in E107 and it was quite run down and the sliding door would not close properly and the screen was off the track and broken rusted out. This place needs some TLC. The headboard is loose from the walls doors would not close properly because they were warped and the blinds in the guest room were broken so people could look in. Check the online photos and reviews before booking as it can be a crap shoot as some are much nicer than others for $200+ a night. read more

Nice resort accommodations. The security staff was awful and would NEVER recommend staying there!! The room was nice, and clean with a great view. Pool overlooked the beach which was fantastic! Location of the resort was close to downtown for shopping and restaurants. Great restaurant on site with good food and service. THE SECURITY STAFF WAS RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL! They patrolled the pool like a prison yard! Made relaxing at the pool EXTREMELY uncomfortable and unpleasant. Kids were not allowed to throw a football in the pool or play on the grass of the resort. Playing with a ball or staying off grass were listed NOWHERE in the rules. They were not bothering other guests or being loud. Just kids playing in the pool trying to have fun. We had to speak to the front desk staff several times about arbitrary rules. The first time they agreed that playing ball in the pool was not listed in the rules and the kids continued to play. The next day they were threatened with a call to the police if they didn't stop. We were treated like common criminals rather than guests paying thousands of dollars to enjoy the pool and beach. It was absolutely mindblowing the way we were treated. read more

Great place to stay in Rocky Point. Right on the sandy beach. There has been a recent change in pet policy for renters that you should know about. Only owners can have pets on the property. Other than that this is a lovely place to stay with great service and walkable beach. We will be back. read more

Massages were scheduled by the front desk where we were staying at the other end of Rocky Point. We were able to get two appointments on the same day at the same time which was nice. The owner runs the front desk and was very gracious and let us know that they were running a few minutes late. My boyfriend and I decided to go next door to the restaurant for a drink and a walk around the pool. This resort might have been nice 10 years ago but it has been used hard. The chairs outside were worn, the landscaping was minimal and on a whole the place looks old. The restaurant looked like any chain Mexican restaurant in the States, dark heavy wood, tile floor and no charm. I ordered a margarita that was made with a mix and they were out of the first two tequilas that I requested. My massage was good, not the best but not the worst. My 2 star rating is because the place was a dump. Old, worn with very small rooms, my massage therapist couldn't walk all the way around the table comfortably. While she was masked, she coughed and sniffled throughout the massage making me very uncomfortable. Do some research before you go and find somewhere better. read more

My whole family got food poisoning from the swim up bar from the steak and shrimp tacos. Over 8 people. Will not be eating there or returning back here. Having a bottom level flirt there is also a grass area that is there for no reason I guess because if you stand on it more than 5 minutes you get yelled at. Sonoran Sun = love love love! I visited a few months ago with a group of friends for a long weekend in PP. Since there were 10 of us, we reserved one of the large condos via VRBO. We were lucky with what we received - corner 3B/2BA condo with a wrap-around porch with 270-degree view of the water & beach! Check-in was quick and easy since the condo owner gave us all of the papers needed beforehand. The condo was clean when we arrived with more than enough necessities to get us thru the weekend. It also was fairly quiet! Didn't see a lot of people except during the daytime around the pool. The pools are spacious, with a swim-up bar in between! The bar sells a-typical fried bar food that's not terrible! I had chicken fingers & fries a few times to sober up and they did the trick. Also, not terribly expensive, no more than $10 for food. Each day they have happy hour for drinks - just your average margs, tequila sunrise, beachy drinks. If/when you pay with cash, be forewarned that they don't always have a lot of change. At one point I paid in pesos, got change in pesos AND USD because they could not keep up with the demand around the pool. During our last morning when we were doing our massive clean up, the dishwasher started to leak profusely. The cleaning crew was kind enough to give us a lot of towels to mop up the water as it began to seep out. We were not charged for this thankfully! read more

There's a swim up bar with really good carne asada tacos and the friendliest staff! Yesenia and Osvaldo are a blast! This place let's you bring your own alcohol! Whaaaaaa?! First time here and will definitely be back! The only service I had was a 60-minute massage and it was wonderful! For $35US, I received a full body, deep tissue massage - both my husband and I were in a tiny room together but that didn't take away from the service and the massage received. For something that would cost much more in the US, I was super satisfied with my massage and even thought of coming back the next day for another one! There are other options available here such as manicures and pedicures which I will definitely do next time - we were strapped for time when we were here :( They also have the option of booking online, too. The receptionist and staff were all very accommodating and nice. The receptionist spoke English which helped greatly since our Spanish isn't so great but like I said, they were all very friendly! read more

My mom has condos at this resort and I make my way down here a few times a year. There are lots of resorts along the beach now, but these offer the shortest walk to the water. We have a ground floor unit and it takes about 15 steps to get to the sand! Units are nice and this resort offers great amenities. I've had a few massages at the spa and they've been solid. read more

They made the reservations for the wrong dates, repeatedly telling me on the phone that I was booked for the dates I requested, then actually booked different days. It was my mistake for not reading the confirmation email, but I've never had this problem before. Now, they are blaming me, taking away nights we paid for and threatening complete cancellation of an over $1800 trip because we did not show up on the wrong dates that they booked it for in error. I hope they rectify the situation but am definitely an unhappy customer as of right now. read more

This was the best vacation I have ever had, and I have had a lot. Sonaran Spa Resort. Family of 7 plus grandma. This Condo w401 was absolutely perfect. The view was amazing, the furnishing beautiful. I HAVE NOOO complaints. The service desk, Angel very nice. The kids had a great time, both at ocean and at pool. I did wish the bar and restaurant had been opened more. Closed Monday and Tues I believe. I hope to stay here again and definitely recommend it. read more

By far worst pedicure Ive ever had! The tech spoke no english so when trying to explain that she was being to aggressive w tools she nodded & smiled. I finally had to take tool from her & show her how to do it. She ripped the skin open when doing cuticles which got infected & Im on antibiotics for, did not want to take any chances. Not even the polish job was descent. Would definitely stay away from the Spa when staying there. Ive only put 1 star because could not post review w out it. read more

Condo E211. I don't want to be mean just inform others so they have a better experience than we did. I was really looking forward to getting away for a couple of days to relax and get rid of some stress but instead I was more stressed. My husband actually asked If I wanted to go home the day I got there. The Condo was dingy, dirty, dark, hot. The bathtub was dirty and old with stains, slippery and water pressure was bad, took for ever to rinse off. The kitchen was also dirty, I was washing every thing I used before using it, like utensils, plates cups. It is very run down. The towels and sheets did smell clean but they had stains on them. The bed was hard and it sunk in the middle so we did not sleep well. I actually was looking forward to coming back home as soon as possible. The staff was very nice though. The restaurant, Emiliano's, was very good, and our waitress was great!! read more

First off, I want to say that the actual views and room were not bad. I love going to Rocky Point and have been going down there for several of years. My main complaint is with the management at the Sonoran Spa. It is HORRIBLE!! First off, we walked in to check in, the front desk girl did not greet us, let alone smile at us. She did this weird twitching thing with her bottom jaw that made her look like she was a drug addict or possibly a former one. The guest behind us lost his room key, and was obviously upset. Instead of telling him that she would be with him in a moment, she gets in a screaming match with him, and tells him "It isn't her problem" and "Don't disrespect her" Needless to say is was super uncomfortable to be in the middle of that. We finish checking in, and we aren't told any info about the place, just handed our keys and that is that. On the second day we were there, I wake up to make coffee and realize that the coffee maker is missing a part, I am unable to make coffee without it leaking all over the place. I look high and low for it in our room, but cannot find it. I go down to the front desk around 7am and ask if they have a extra coffee maker and tell him the situation. I am told that maintenance isn't in for a couple more hours but they would send someone up to help me when they get in. They never come. Again, later that afternoon, same guy, I tell him no one came to help with the coffee maker, and he says again that he will have someone come handle it. Even at this point, I told him I don't care when it gets done today as long as it gets done, so I can drink some coffee tomorrow morning. One of my fav things about going down to Rocky Point is sitting on the porch in the morning, drinking my coffee, listening to the ocean waves. So yes, as a guest, this was super important to me. I brought my Starbucks beans, and just wanted to drink my damn coffee! LOL. We get home later that night, and surprise!! The coffee maker is not fixed or there is no replacement. SUPER disappointed. Overall, I think their customer service SUCKS here. They do not make you feel like a guest, and I will never be returning here, let alone recommending this place to any of my family or friends. read more

We booked a 5 night stay through Castaways at this resort. After 3 nights of sewer gas emanating from the bathroom, no heat and no hot water in the kitchen (and it was cold this time in Feb), 63 degrees every morning in the room, we were told they couldn't fix the heat so they moved us to another room which again the heater didn't work at night and for two more nights it was 62 degrees in the room. We asked for one day compensation for the inconvenience and wasting 1/2 day waiting to move to the other room. They denied. Customer service is terrible. The condition of the rooms were "worn" to say the least. Stay away, pick another resort!!! read more

My family and I stayed in a remodeled condo and that was hands down beautiful! Sadly the resort staff was extremely rude and very aggressive in the way they would speak at you! There were many unnecessary encounters with the security as they were acting like the guest were the problem. I was running in the gym at the sonoren spa and not one, not two but three security guards came up to me and rudely and very aggressively told me to "get out" I was very confused as I was the only one in the gym at the time and all I was doing was running on a treadmill. They continued to tell me to get out as I was simply trying to talk to them as to why. They must have yelled get out ten times and threatened to call the cops so they could clean. Okay, I get that they wanted to clean but to speak to someone like that is unacceptable! As well as they pick and choose who they follow around at the pool to keep a mask on! They were rude to people next to us about waring a mask when we didn't have ours on they just walked by! It was an awful experience from everyone there! I will NEVER be going back to the Spa!! THEY ARE HORRIBLE! Please stay away from there! I have been going down to rocky point for 15 years and have never felt so unsafe with the behavior of the security towards the guest!!! read more

Highly disappointed. We reserved 2 condos units E108 and E109 from 7-28-17 thru 7-31-17. We arrived around 330p local time from Arizona in order to check in at 4p only to find out our rooms weren't ready. We ended up waiting until 430p for 1 room to become available and waited until 530p for the 2nd. When we finally got to do our walk-through of the rooms we found that unit E109 had a leak in the ceiling which caused the ceiling to split and the owner kept a fridge which was full of mold and rested in the kitchen along with a stove that would not properly close so the light stayed on. We went to the front desk to express our concerns and we're given an incident report, the front desk forwarded our concerns to an on-site property manager. The next day maintenance came out to review our concerns but could not do anything about the leak in the ceiling nor did management get us another room because they were booked for the weekend. The following day we followed up with management to see about compensation for our inconvenience and were offered to measly $25 restaurant gift cards. So we declined that offer and requested to speak with someone about that manager. When we spoke with the second manager she offered to look into additional solutions by this time it was our checkout date of July 31 and we were driving back to Phoenix. I took the managers car and we were informed that she would get back to us but if we had not heard from her by noon on August 1 to give her a call. So August 1 comes I call at noon she has not heard anything from her manager so I continue to be patient and I call back on August 2 at 8 AM and leave a message, I also called at noon that same day unfortunately I had not received any response. I called on August 3 and the manager has not heard from her superior apparently because her superior was not in the office that day so I called on August 4 and was informed that the best they could do is to offer one night free stay. So now I've had to alter my course of action to dispute the charges with my credit card company, the Better Business Bureau along with a yelp review of my situation. The resort itself is nights did not have any issues at all or any loud music playing, the staff was friendly and helpful for the most part but there's no way anyone should pay full price for partial service. read more

We had the penthouse, which was gorgeous, though there were nude paintings everywhere. Usually I wouldn't mind, but considering our party had about 6 children and my family is kind of conservative, that was unpleasant experience to say the least. Anyway, the air conditioning was absolutely horrendous. It was almost as hot inside as was outside. The only working air conditioner was in the game room. But then 4 maintaince guys showed up and said that they had a new thermostat system for the game room. And thne guess what? THEY BROKE THE AIR CONDITIONING IN THAT ROOM, TOO!! We had the hotel staff constantly in and out of our penthouse. Which was really nerve wracking, and because all of our electronics and valuable were up there. Three nights spent writhing in sweat, it was terrible. They did offer us four free massages, but we had more than four people so it didnt exactly go a long way in terms of smoothing over our frustration. Their pool and jacuzzi were nice, but next time, we're sticking with Las Palomas. read more
