This is one of the most expensive restaurants that I have been to for specifically tacos. Even more specifically, one of my favorite tacos, al pastor. The pastor tacos here come with cheese and the meat was tough. For about $5/taco, I'll go somewhere else. There are quite a few servers here, but you will still need to double check your order to what you receive multiple times to make sure that your order is correct. I've given this place chance after chance, and it's unfortunate cause this used to be one of our favorite places. The quality in the food just keeps disappointing, and doesn't seem to be getting any better. With these price points I expect to at least be able to eat my food, the steak was super overcooked and barely chewable I didn't even get to finish it. While in GA for a family reunion, we came across this taco shop by our hotel and loved it! They have handmade tortillas and flavors that are so yummy and authentic. It was clean and had a nice casual ambiance. Service was quick, but our server was not detail-oritented and missed a few details such as the correct size of our drinks, my child's drink and details about our meal. None the less, I would still recommend as the pricing was GREAT and made it well worth it. We've tried a bunch of stuff from their menu but our favorites remain the asada tacos, al pastor tacos and the quesabirrias! All super delicious with hand made tortillas!! The salsas are really amazing too. Not extremely spicy but with a kick. The Chips & Salsa they serve in the beginning is so good too. You can tell the chips are freshly made in house. Portions are decent. Service is always super friendly and helped me with all the questions I had. Parking can be limited since it is a small shopping center. We were craving one taco each, not two, not three, just one. We stopped in for the first time ever and had what I can honestly say may be the best grilled shrimp taco I ever had. I can confidently say this is one of the best street taco spot in the Atlanta metro area! The place has an artistic, Mexican, vibe with lively, colorful decor. No Tex Mex here! The food was reminiscent of the local food spots we ate at our our visits to Mexico and you could taste the authentic flavors! Everything we tried was bursting with fantastic flavors. The salsa roja and fresh made chips had just the right amount of spice. The shrimp in the handmade taco cameron Al pastor con queso was perfectly cooked. The quesabirria was absolutely delicious and was the winner in my books. The handmade taco Asada con queso was full of flavor and we were all starting to get full before the star of the show, the platter el rey del pastor came. We opted to get the pastor instead of chicken and were very pleased with our choice. The pork was well marinated and had just the right amount of crisp on the edges. The pineapple chunks complimented the pork so well. The onions, short ribs, and queso were delectable but the best part of the entire platter was the bacon wrapped jumbo shrimp. The charro beans were some of the best beans I've ever had. Incredibly tasty to eat on their own or add to a taco, or other dishes. Just a note, on the menu they do give an option to add more bacon wrapped jumbo shrimp or short ribs for an additional cost. We came starving and the platter we ordered along with the 3 tacos was more than enough food for 3 people. We actually ended up having to take our leftovers to go because we were all so full. Even though we waited for a good 30 minutes on a Saturday evening. The wait was worth it as the food did not disappoint. The staff were friendly and very attentive to out needs and requests. They were quick with refills of salsa, chips, and beverages even while managing multiples tables. They all worked together and we saw them thoroughly cleaning all of the tables before patrons were sat. We were in the area for my husband's work event. After a long day, he was tired and just wanted some good food in the comfort of our hotel room. Found this place a couple of doors down so we gave it a try. Everything was delicious - burrito, tacos, guacamole and the sauces. All flavorful and just the right amount of spicy heat. The ambiance is okay. It's very decorative with lots of colors but the restaurant itself is rather small. The service is below average. Got a taste of Birria tacos, carnitas burrito, asada burrito... the consomé for the birria was great make sure to get the order with the rice and beans so you can pour the consomé over the rice. Carnitas was ok a bit less crispy than I ordered but still very good Asada had great flavor better than carnitas. . My co-worker told me about this spot. I am SO glad she did. I have a thing for authentic Mexican food. This is for sure it! Homemade shells, sauces and thick creamy heaven Queso. Melty cheese on the tacos if you ask for it. Asada taco was excellent. Pastor was like eating a full explosion of delightful flavor. The Birria Taco tho..... It was like a thing of the gods (if they ate tacos)! I have had this kind of taco at a few other spots and honestly it was like eating a juicy pot roast. This taco , which I didn't get a picture of, was crispy, cheesy and juicy. I was so full I almost died or I would have had a million more. I think this will be my new go to spot for tacos! The tortillas were perfect (single layer , and not too thick), the meat was flavorful. I enjoyed the Al pastor the most, which came with pineapple. The green sauce was tasty as well with a nice kick. I also tried the quesaberria, which are the tacos that you dip in a consomme. It was a nice change from the usual tacos and the sauce was less oily than some other places I tried. I felt like they were good, but I highly prefer the tacos since they are a lot less heavy. They have a huge menu, but we decided on the tacos on handmade tortillas. I got the tacos Al pastor and the wife had some carne asada tacos. The handmade tortillas were great. Good size for tacos and you can tell they were fresh. Onion and cilantro were great as well. The meat was good, but not great for seasoning. Pineapple could have been from a can, but could have just been cut up the day before. Hard to tell. We will likely go back, but everything was just ok. My go to for Mexican food and street tacos. I love the sauces and the spicy sauce is actually spicy. The tripe is really crispy and it pairs really well with a lot of lime and the light green sauce. We visited on a Friday evening. It wasn't busy when we got to the restaurant, but it did get busier around 7 PM. Our server was really sweet and friendly and the food came out quickly. However, the food was just "okay." The pastor con queso was underwhelming. I was expecting an explosion of flavors, but it was just blah. It's a little disappointing since that's their signature taco. I ordered a side of vegetables which were sauteed Zucchini and squash and it was soooo salty. I could hardly eat it. Pretty impressed with this street taco spot. It's a small and narrow location but the decor and service are great! I ordered a Michelada and it was made perfectly; super flavorful and well balanced. There are a few things I consider when judging tacos. 1. Tortillas 2. Sauces 3. Sides 1. The tortillas here are hand made and the perfect thickness. With hand made tortillas there is no need for doubling up and the taco as a whole has a better chance of being well balanced. 2. The sauces were all pretty great they had a very nice avocado verde which was flavorful but mild. A rojo which was pretty salty and bitter on its own but on the tacos was Fantastic with a punch of spice. The last was their el pastor sauce it was creamy and packed with flavor. All in all they were all pretty good. 3. There are only a select few taco spots that include a little something more with their tacos such as grilled onion or jalapeño. They included some fantastic grilled onions on the side which definitely won them some extra points in my books. I had 3 tacos the Tripa with is crispy beef intestines or chitlins and it was wonderful, super crispy! I also had the Birria which was the best Birria taco I have ever had. Almost as if I had never know what it was truly supposed to taste like. I almost felt like there as a little chorizo in it because of the punch of flavor. The only gripe I might have was that it didn't have any sauce on the side but I did only get one and to be far is was delicious without it. And last but not least the Lengua, it was good; it is a little difficult to mess up lengua but I would say it was pretty standard, not fantastic and not terrible. All in all I would say we will absolutely be back. The food was great and authentic. read more

I've been going to El Rey Del Taco for many years if not decades, but after moving up further North it became more challenging to eat at El Rey Del Taco unless I was in the neighborhood. I was thrilled to find out they were making a sister location in Buford, GA. There are differences between both locations the former having a more full menu with more options, also a larger dining area -- El Rey Del Pastor is like the little sister that you've always wanted. Although they don't have everything the original location has, the food at this location is still delicious and full of flavor. I ordered 3 handmade tacos: Pulpo al Pastor con Queso, Pastor con queso, and Birria de Res con queso. I enjoyed all three of the tacos I got, but the Birria de Res con queso had left a stronger lasting impression with me, in a great way. The best part of the entire meal had to be the queso, that cheese pull is no joke! I would love to revisit and try more of their menu options; care to join me? :) read more

I really wanted to like this place but it just wasn't very good. It was just a general lack of flavor in each dish that really disappointed me. Every part of the dish was just bland. Even in parts I don't expect much flavor, it just showed no flavor at all. I got two tacos and a side of nopales. Tortillas should either be mildly sweet and nutty if flour or taste like corn if corn, but I could decipher no taste here. Pork tacos has no marination or seasoning. It was just plain pork. The steak was the one good part with flavor in my steak taco. Even the produce was without flavor. I mean with produce it's usually just a quality issue and as quality goes the flavor goes off but not here. It just lacked flavor as well. I think it's because everything was chopped so small. Cilantro, onions, and more was just minced to smithereens. The real indication their produce wasn't good was the limes I asked for. I couldn't get any juice out of. They were extremely hard like they were not ripe enough yet the inside was dry. Maybe it's because they preslice them and store. The nopales I got was on the same level as the tacos. Nopales can be exactly like okra. If it's not fixed right it gets soggy and slimy. That was what happened here. It also was supposed to be tossed in pico, but I only had a very tiny bit which only made it in with a few bites. I know they can do better here. I also have to suggest a menu redesign. There are arrows that flow to nothing. One section lists that each option can be a torta, taco, burrito but when I asked I was told the prices were for tacos. So what's the price of another? It was confusing to say the least. The service as well was slow. I think there was only one guy serving with a girl to run food and clear dishes. I was one of only 4 tables and waited over 10 minutes for the server and once I finished my food it took almost 15 minutes more for the server to come for payment which was fast since they could do it at the table, but unless you want a 45 minute lunch, this isn't it.
