I stopped by for a late lunch yesterday & I can't believe I haven't checked out this place earlier! What we ordered: * Cuban Sandwich * Cuban Twist * Fried sweet plantains * Cheese & Beef Patty All incredible and packed to the brim. I probably devoured my sandwich in 10 minutes, it was so good. You can tell the owners put a lot of love into this business. The atmosphere was homey and sweet. I was greeted with a smile and a lot of jokes! My husband and I had dinner at this hidden little gem last night and we were absolutely enamored with it! We had Rob's platter, fried plantains, the Cuban sandwich, a beef patty and a chicken patty and everything was absolutely delicious! The prices were also very reasonable. However, the real stars are the husband and wife owners who treat you like family the moment you walk in and who make everything with love. I recently ordered catering from the Latin Corner for a Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration we were having at work and they surpassed my expectations. EVERYTHING was amazing. The service was outstanding. This husband and wife team were so friendly and accommodating. They allowed me to add extra food to my already large order the night before after a near by Mexican restaurant cancelled on me. I ordered food from 4 other Hispanic restaurants but the food was from The Latin Corner was the show stopper. Everyone raved about the roast pork and rice. Not a drop of food was left. Where do I start? The owners' warm hospitality makes you feel like family from the onset. The white rice and beans are expertly prepared. The alcapurrias (described on the menu as plantain fritters) are the most exceptional I've ever had, anywhere. We also savored sweet plantains, which were truly delightful. What a wonderful experience today! It really was unlike any other. I mentioned to other diners that it was my first time at El Rincon Criollo. The fellow diners were all too excited and happy to share their recommendations, not only that they were looking out for us too! One lady diner was raving about her sweet plantains that she walked over and gave me a slice on a napkin to try and ahh yes it was delicious. I met diners from Cuba who raves about the authenticity of the food. It was my first time trying this wonderful cuisine. I was seated at a booth & at the tables the menu is fixed onto the table so every person seated could see it. Another woman was sweet and let me know I had to go to the counter to order. I was waiting for my son and his girlfriend though. After they arrived the owner came to the table to take our order. I thought that was very kind. I just got a great vibe from the customers and it really was an instant welcome. You really feel that you are in someone's home and being treated like family in the best of ways. It's something uncommon today. Something I treasure. We tried some starters, the potato ball with beef, the corn fritter, the pork patty which is like a fried tasty turnover with delicious shredded pork. I enjoyed everything! I really loved the corn fritter that was sweet and savory! It was indescribably amazing but I'll try. There was cheese and had a slightly sweet fried coating. I'll definitely get this again. For entrees, I ordered the yellow rice and beans. I tried the mofongo (smashed plantains) with garlic and my son got the mofongo with shredded pork. Delicious almost like a smashed plantain casserole too. I was delighted that these were served in a mini metal casserole dish that kept it nice and hot! The wife who cooked our food came to our table to make sure we were eating and happy. She made sure I had enough juice for my mofongo & she was very sweet. The restaurant is hard to find because the road leading to it looks almost like a driveway but it's right near the Burger King. If you're coming from Royersford it's the first left after Burger King. You drive all the way back and it looks like an industrial area in a rather unexpected place. It's worth it!! The Parking is ample and it is on your right. Plenty of parking. I'm so impressed at the success of the restaurant because there is no visibility. That's saying something. Please support this wonderful business, you're going to love the way you're treated! I have heard so much about this place, we had to try it. Everything we tried was absolutely amazing! The sweet plantain stuffed with beef - a perfect balance of sweet & savory. The Mom's Cuban patty that has a perfect filing of roasted pork, chicken and cheese - was made to order, deep fried until the crust was crisp. The Mofongo with slow roasted pork - just incredible. A ball of mashed plantain, garlic, spices & coverd with roasted pork. Rob's Special Combo with rice & beans - an amazing blend of spices. We devoured the rice & beans, just amazing! And finally, the Cuban Twist sandwich - crisp on the outside smothered in garlic, with all the traditional ingredients that make one up, with the addition of roasted chicken. An explosion when you bite into it. We cannot say enough about the restaurant & owners, so charming. You have lifetime customers! My bf stumbled upon this hidden gem in Spring City and we could not be happier. If you are looking for authentic Puerto Rican food...this IS the place! I have spent a lot of time in PR so I was pleasantly surprised to find someone who prepares traditional foods. The mofongo was delish. We ordered for the whole family...roasted pork with yellow rice & beans, chicken w rice & beans, beef and chicken patties, and a cuban sandwich. It was all outstanding. I just tried The Latin Corner finally after hearing it was great from a few people. It was great! I ordered a Cuban sandwich and a beef patty with cheese, to try a few different things. Both were awesome! The beef patty was crispy and had a very tasty filling. The Cuban is perfectly crisped up on a buttery garlicky roll. The pork was very flavorful. Pickles and thin layer of mustard were perfect. I also got a Mirinda orange soda, which was refreshing and different than your average soda options. I will definitely be back to try some other stuff and highly recommend! read more

One of my favorite local eateries, bar none. The food is incredible, and the closest thing that this white boy will ever get to a home-cooked Latin meal. Seriously, it smells and tastes just like the loving meal your mom would make for you, if she was as talented as the owner and chef here. Get the Mofongo, preferably with the most delicious roast pork you'll ever have, and pair it up with literally anything else on the menu or on specials that sounds good to you. It will be. If you're eating in, slide into one of the quaint little tables for the wait, and know that it's beyond worth it. El Rincon Criollo The Latin Corner is a food stand with counter seating. The menu consists mainly of Puerto Rican food with a Cuban sandwich on the menu, as well as a beef burger and a salmon burger. We sat at the counter and ordered pastelillos con carne y queso (meat and cheese) plus soft drinks. It was nice to find this spot inside Zern's Farmers Market. Plus it was equally impressive to see pastelillos and alcapurrias on the menu! The pastelillos didn't have as flaky a crust as most pastelillos do. However, it wasn't as thick as an empanada crust either. The beef was finely ground, as was to be expected. The cheese, as expected, was mild. We all liked them---even our son-in-law who never heard of a pastelillo, enjoyed his, as did our 4 1/2 year old grandson. Our daughter even had a coconut soda, which made her snack the most authentic. The rest of us had Coke with the exception of our grandson, who had a juice box. The price was right. All 5 of us ate for $16! Service was efficient and the folks there were very friendly. We definitely will return at some point! read more

I crave their food - CRAVE. The slow roasted pork is amazing. The Cuban sandwich is delicious. I don't know what's in the hot sauce, but it's addicting. I would buy bottles of that sauce, jugs, perhaps even a 55-gallon drum of it. If it was reasonable to move in, I would, to eat their food everyday. While I love my parents, I would be willing to be adopted, it's not out of the question. Go. Eat. You'll be happy you did. read more

Best Cuban and mufango I've had since leaving NYC! I strongly suggest the Mufango de Luis with pork.

When I think of this restaurant, I like to think it's a result of one of the best mom and/or dad cooks in Puerto Rico who would have lines out of their home just to feed the people craving their delicious food. However, I have no idea if that's their history--it's the vibe you get. Mom and pop's kitchen turned restaurant. The best type of food! The seating was somewhat limited, but there was no problem finding a seat. The only high chair was in use, but we were fine have our little guy sitting on the bench seat. You seat yourself, the drinks are serve yourself bottled, and the waitress will come over to take your order. The menu wasn't big, but it was certainly easy to find yummy food. We're new to traditional Puerto Rican food, but we knew enough to know this food was delicious! It's pretty causal. Some of the food is served on paper plates; heavy stuff such as beef stew and rice and beans. The minus a star is, it felt slightly disorganized with take out orders and folks eating in and limited folks working there. It took some time to get our food, piece meal, and I can see it being a little stressful. If you have some time and are laid back, want delicious food, then I'd say go--you'll have a nice meal. read more

Él Ricon Criollo (the Latin Corner II) is a mom and pop Puerto Rican restaurant that we've been frequenting for 7 or 8 years. Having lived in Miami and having Cuban in laws who are great latin cooks, I am always on the look for Latin restaurants in the Philly area. And Él Ricon/Latin Corner was a great find. Although they've more to Spring City (near Collegeville, Royersford and Phoenixville, if you don't know the area), the food is still the great Puerto Rican comfort food we crave. Ivette and Luis pour their heart into the dishes they prepare. Everything is made from scratch and made fresh daily. And chatting with Ivette and Luis is a highlight of every visit. They offer a menu consisting of things like roast pork, roasted chicken, beef and chicken empanadas, mofongo (think of some thing akin to mashed potatoes, but made of plantains (a large banana), garlic and pork drippings), Cuban sandwiches, maduros (sweet plantains), tostones, papas rellanos and other bites. In addition they usually offer 6-7 daily specials like criollo pork chops, yuca, chicken or beef stews, homemade soups and other great selections. So take a quick trip to La Isla Bonita (the beautiful island) and treat yourself to lunch or dinner at this wonderful Puerto Rican restaurant. It's worth the trip. BYOB. read more

Took a byte of the empanada closed my eyes and I was immediately in Isabela PR having authentic Puerto Rican food! It started with the empanada and ended with the Mofongo with pernil, I was in Puerto Rico heaven. The husband and wife treated my wife and I like we were hanging out in their home. Unfortunately we did not get to try the food here because of the poor customer service over the phone to place an order. We planned to order 3 appetizers, entrees & desserts but every response from the girl over the phone was "what...?", "huh??", "can you speak English?" We were, in fact, speaking English and reading our order right off the menu. It was such a bizarre experience. This restaurant is currently operating as curbside only so you must call to place an order. Perhaps we got someone on the phone who usually doesn't take orders but I have nothing else to base my review off than the terrible experience we had on a Saturday afternoon. I loved this place. Small dinky in a very strange strip mall apartment complex. The food was very authentic. I've spent muncho time in Puerto Rico. Great mufungo with garlic pork and chicken. This was my first time trying Puerto Rican food and I am so happy that I did. First of all I have to say this place is a little hard to find. The GPS tells you to turn onto Riverside Dr, but this does not look like a road but rather a driveway so keep your eyes open and turn just before the Burger King drive through exit. On this visit we tried the mofongo with garlic. Such a interesting dish with a very delicious taste. We also tried the Cuban sandwich. This flat bread sandwich was full of flavor! The last thing we tried was the baked chicken rice and beans. This too was very good! Like everyone has said the owner is so friendly and makes you feel like your in her home having dinner. It was such a good experience I would recommend everyone try it out!!! read more

Just to start out I grew up in Puerto Rico eating pernil, arroz y gondules. So I was really happy that there was a Latin place so close. I tried the food there twice and it was just so bland. It's missing soul. I don't taste any garlic or seasonings. Puerto Rican food should have so much more seasoning!!!The mofongo was super dry. The beans are pinto which I'm not used to. The pork was dry and didn't taste like delicious fatty garlicky pernil. Please add more garlic and sofrito! I will gladly come back I'm dying for a good Latin food place. Also- if you you ever want to add to the menu to please consider churrasco, garlic yuca, or pinchos that would be great!! read more
