The name of this place quite literally translates to "the corner." Which is where they are hidden but definitely a place to try if you're in the area. The dining area is a little smaller but the dishes/drinks are full of flavor. The service is great as well. The staff are very attentive and friendly. I tried the sopes combo with your choice of meat, served on a fluffy and crunchy piece of fried dough, beans, lettuce, tomato, Salvadoran sour cream, queso fresco w/salsa (Fair warning the salsa is super spicy) and rice & beans on the side. I've eaten food from here before because my friend did a lunch run for work one time, but this is the first time eating at the restaurant. The pupusas were excellent and they have a combo plate that includes 2 pupusas, rice, and beans with the usual curtido and salsa. They also include a hot salsa if you want more spice. I think they should have given me more curtido but I was told that you can ask for more and they'll happily give you more. The quesadilla was excellent! I should've bought another one for the mornings when I have my coffee. The employees are very friendly and the dining area was clean. Staff is welcoming and friendly. You order and pay before you get your food. We ordered a Carne Asada with Shrimp plate, Pupusa revuelta, and a Sopa de pata. I wanted to try the Sopa de Res but was told they ran out. I went with the sopa de pata. I have to say It was one of the best I've had. This is the second time that I have come here for a take-out order for 'Chili Relleno with rice and beans' and have been very disappointed. I ordered two orders before, which was for my friend and the other one for myself. This restaurant only sells one combination plate with one Chili Relleno and one Enchilada for $17.00. When I got back to my friend's house, she was so upset to see such a small portion of beans and rice, which was about two heaping tablespoons of beans & two heaping tablespoons of rice. I had forgotten about how small the Chili Relleno was & the rice & beans were. I will be walking back in to El Ricon Restaurant now, after discovering the same small quantity of food. Today, I paid $17.05 for one order of a half of a pepper and a couple of mouthfuls of rice and beans plus a Carne Asada Taco I will not patronize this restaurant by purchasing their ridiculous small portions of food for such high prices. I hope that this is helpful for others who are searching for Mexican Restaurants. I also want to mention that there wasn't any cheese inside of the pepper It was just dredged in flour and dipped into beaten eggs then fried with a little tomato sauce on the top. Coming from LA, I am a fan of Salvadoran food. As this food is really popular there. With half off pupusas on Wednesday, being a common trend. I came across this restaurant randomly and have been back a few times now. The food is really good. They offer two types of horchata, one is a traditional Mexican horchata and one is a Salvadoran recipe. I am familiar with the Mexican recipe the most. But both are delicious! Usually I alternate my order as I go.  There is a lot of parking available. It's inside a shopping center next to other businesses  off of Greenbrae. When we go I usually order a cheese pupusas meal, that comes with two pupusas, refried beans, sauce and rice. There are a lot of options on the menu to choose from. We also get chips with salsa. They offer sitting inside or you and pick up to go.  I recommend checking this restaurant out for lunch and dinner. They accommodate bigger parties too. We had 8 with us. read more

This was by far one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. The restrooms were filthy and completely unacceptable dirty floors, no soap, and a horrible smell. That should've been the first red flag. The food was just as bad. The tostadas were clearly expired stale and tasted rancid. The meat was rock hard and nearly impossible to chew. Nothing tasted fresh, and it left me questioning the cleanliness of the kitchen. To make things worse, the customer service was awful. The staff was rude, inattentive, and seemed completely uninterested in helping or even acknowledging us. The entire place felt dirty and neglected. I honestly don't know how this place is still open. I won't be coming back and would not recommend it to anyone. Save your time and money. read more

Food: The menudo served on weekends was pretty good! It could have used just a tad bit more salt for my preference and once I added a bit more the menudo was delectable! I washed it down with a large iced TAMARIND JUICE which I highly recommend! Service: Friendly Staff! Ambiance: Casual dining but we ordered for pick up during our visit. My first time here today. I might never have discovered it if Taconazo (across Greenbrae) had not been closed. This is a small place on the corner across from "Greenbrae Commons Results NV Transformation Center". I literally live near this shopping center and without Yelp I would never have known it was here. What a GREAT DISCOVERY! They MAKE their own corn tortillas and they are spectacular. If you've never had homemade corn tortillas you're in for a treat here. I once had a housekeeper who had owned her own restaurant and she often cooked for us. My meal here today was reminiscent of the wonderful flavors she put together for us. I can hardly wait to come back and try a few more of my favorites. The portions are not large but the flavors are spectacular! We will definitely be back! I was referred to this restaurant from someone on Next Door so I thought I would try it out! I first want to say I love whole in the wall places and I love supporting small and Mom/Pop businesses! When you walk in, the people were very nice! My friend was craving chips and salsa, but here you have to buy them. So we preferred that, I had a Carnitas Burrito and he ordered a Carne Asada Quesadilla. When they brought the chips and salsa over we were given a basket of Tostitos Chips, we were not impressed (see picture). Our food was brought our food over, I had to ask again for Salsa Verde (which I asked for when placing our order), which came very runny. My friend said the Quesadilla was ok and my Burrito was ok, what saved our meal was the meat! The Carne Asada and Carnitas were very good (that is reason they got 3 stars, the meat is what saved them). Lastly, their bathrooms are terrible, I would only use it to wash my hands! read more

Que rico! Estas si son Popusas! These are real authentic Popusas! We have been customers since I was a child, I vividly remember coming here with my parents. Tonight we dined here for dinner and it brought back many memories. The owners always so friendly and happy to see us! Let's be real I only came for the quesadilla pastry. They only make them on the weekends but I took the chance! They had none... lucky for us we will be back this weekend. We ordered Popusas de Wiesel con chicharrón, queso con loroco and revueltas which is cheese, chicharrón and beans. They were amazing! So hot and full of flavor. The wait is worth it! I am a Spanish language tutor and recently one of my new students suggested that we meet at El Rincon. I thought it was a great idea as we could eat some amazing Salvadorian food and my student could practice ordering in Spanish! When I arrived, the place was packed, clean and spacious. My student had already gotten a booth for us where chips and salsa were awaiting. We both decided on the $7.99 papusa plate that comes with 2 papusas served with a side of rice and beans. When the waitress arrived I explained in Spanish that we were having a clase de español. She was kind enough to humor us by speaking Spanish the whole time we were there. The food was delicious. The rice was fluffy and delicate, the beans super tasty and smooth and the papusas were crunchy, cheesy heaven. We also ordered a couple of giant Mexican cokes(made with pure cane sugar that come in classic tall glass bottles) Great service, great food, great price. All and all, an excelente experiencia! Ehhhh. Place is in a beat down sad strip mall. Food came out on paper plates. The pupusas were good I thought but "pork" was almost absent. They were more like bean and cheese with a sliver if pork. Not the BEST pupusas I've ever had. Rice was okay. You can usually gauge a small spot like this based solely on their rice. They gave us two zip lock bags lol: One had a "salsa" which looked like V8 and the other a slaw. The salsa tasted better than it looked but nothing great. The slaw was kinda Luke warm ehhhh. Took a while too for the food to come out. No soap in the bathroom. Entire place is like quasi sanitary. I'm not gonna say I wouldn't go back but it's definitely over hyped. Fresh handmade popusas. They are delicious! Been coming here with my family for years and this is definitely the place I recommend when it comes to popusas. I ordered popusas of Loroco con queso. Loroco is a plant from El Salvador. We also ordered some popusas of chicharron con queso and some revueltas which have chicharron beans and cheese. The micheladas are also pretty good. The food quality and customer service at this restaurant were inadequate. Although there were hardly any customers when I went inside, to order my food, it took 20 minutes to receive a simple order of two pupusas, rice, and beans. The nonseasoned food was overpriced, and I found it to be lacking in flavor and taste. Overall, I do not recommend this restaurant due to the high cost and unsatisfactory experience. This was my first time here, and will be my last. They sell different flavors of water however when I asked the cashier how the sweetness level from all, She said they were all super sweet. No Thanks.There's no variety in flavor with less sugary drinks, so I only had jarritos which by the way each one is almost $3.00 each oh my my my. Everything here is way to expensive for the cheap utensils and to go dinnerware containers. Beans and Rice not good at all!!! And Pupusas are way to thick and greasy like oil is dripping from a car having an oil change. If you're in the mood for Salvadorian pupusas, I know of a great place to get them. It's not a restaurant, but rather a spot located outside a church congregation called El Verbo de Dios. The ladies who make the pupusas don't own a restaurant, but they make up for it with their amazing flavors and high-quality pupusas at a lower price.
