Our go to spot! We LOVE El Rio Grande. Great service, great food, GREAT MARGARITAS. Not to mention Tuesday's are buy one get one free on the margs. We have the same server a lot, Arturo, (I'm pretty sure that's his name) he goes above and beyond taking care of us, so so nice and has been taking care of us for years. I've been to this place a lot with my family, and it's always been a positive experience. The staff is always nice, but depending on the server it might be a little slow. Still nothing terrible. The food is incredible too, and consistent. I typically get the same things, either the Pollo Bandito or the Chorri Pollo, and they are both great. Plus the overall vibe of the place is nice. We were very disappointed that, for some unknown reason, no alcohol was available that evening....not even beer or wine. The server could not or would not tell us why, so we couldn't even have a toast for the occasion. I had the fajitas and they were perfectly cooked but they were not sizzling hot and had set for awhile which was the only thing preventing five stars. The person sitting next to me had the same and the plate came out the same. However another in our group also ordered fajitas which came out sizzling hot as they should. It seems yet another case of not being able to keep enough staff. They brought out chips and salsa and kept them full which is essential for me rating a Mexican Restaurant high. My family and I stopped in here on the way home from a long vacation that we had. So we stopped in here for some good old Mexican food. We were all really happy and hungry so we got in there and I ordered the beef burrito with lettuce sour cream tomatoes rice and beans and it was excellent. My daughters got soft tacos with no lettuce and they really enjoyed it my wife got a quesadilla and she really liked it as well it has many colorful designs on the inside and a lot of neat statues and things to look at. Last night my friends and I didn't have the greatest experience. We weren't even in the restaurant an hour and we were really rushed the entire time. We had someone named Francisco tell us that he needed our table and that we needed to leave, but we still had our drinks and everything. He told us we'd get 10% off our next meal, but none of us plan to come back. We've been going here together since we were in high school (for a minimum of 10 years) and we just couldn't believe how we were treated. The menu had all the traditional choices as well as a full bar offering, after all what is a Cinco De Mayo celebration without margaritas! No one helps and they do not answer their phones I called six times to place a to go order and got hung up on every time. So I came in place to place my order, had to wait for 10 minutes to even get acknowledged to place my order. Then I get my food and it's cold. Although they weren't crowded by any means, we were seated before I even knew we were being seated lol Service was great! They were right on everything every step of the way. Ordered margaritas, yum! We came there tonight to celebrate my daughter's 11th birthday. We come there often and is our favorite place to eat until tonight. Our server seemed like it was a burden to wait on us(it was only 5 of us). It seems as things as gone downhill from what we are used to. The food was bland. We get the Fajita Rio Grande and noticed that they left off the chorizo that is usually mixed with it. We asked the server about it and he asked the kitchen which tried to say that nothing was wrong when this is a meal we always get when to come here so we know when something is not made correctly. Also we made it known to our server that we were celebrating our daughter's birthday and he just gave a very sarcastic smirk and said happy birthday. She was very disappointed that she didn't get the usual birthday song and dessert that we normally get when we come there to celebrate birthdays. We were informed they would be closing at 8:30 tonight earlier than their normal hours. We ordered the Mixed Fajitas for "two", which came out on a massive platter and could've easily fed three-four people. Lastly, we finished with an order of fried ice cream, which was decent. Fresh and thick (but not chunky), their variety of salsa has just enough heat without being over-powering. Luckily I made it in time for happy hour, when their delicious margaritas are only $2.99. I ordered from the ala carte menu a chicken taco, a chicken enchilada, and a beef tamale. The shredded white meat chicken on the taco and enchilada was perfectly marinated, while the finely shredded beef in the tamale was spicy but not hot. It was a wonderful experience compared to the place we got up and left from because of the service! We were starving and this place delivered. Service was impeccable.
