Typical Mexican fare, atypical flavor! This restaurant is a gem in Prestonsburg, KY. I always compare to the Mexican restaurant that I grew up with in my hometown. I've been going to that one for over 30 years. And I have my "go-to" dishes that I order everywhere so I can compare apples to apples. Let me tell you, El Rodeo Grande is definitely as good as that restaurant! I ordered a piña colada, an entrée called "A Little of Everything" with one ground beef taco, one tostada, one chile relleno, one enchilada, one tamale, rice and beans, and a banana chimichanga for dessert. Let's start with the piña colada. I've only ever had one better. That was at a restaurant that made it with ice cream. Unfortunately, that restaurant no longer makes them. At all. So, I would have to say that this piña colada is now number one on my list! Great flavor. Not too much alcohol. You can tell it's there but not overpowering. Chips and salsa: Chips are a little thicker than I would like but that doesn't affect the flavor. Salsa is typical. A Little of Everything: The ground beef taco is average. Ground beef, lettuce, and shredded cheese. However, the ground beef is well spiced. The tostada is the same with some guacamole on top. The chile relleno is delicious! A pepper, looks like a poblano, stuffed with ground beef, melty cheese that oozes out when you cut it, and slathered with enchilada sauce. The enchilada was average also, corn tortilla stuffed with ground beef and covered in enchilada sauce. Still delicious. The tamale was well prepared. The masa and chicken were moist. Overall, a very nice dish and a good way to try multiple items and inexpensive for the amount of food. Finally, the banana chimichanga. Interesting presentation with the colored sprinkles but the flavor was out of the park! The crunch of the chimichanga with the warm banana and the cinnamon sugar and chocolate, caramel, and strawberry syrups. So scrumptious. I had been several times before writing this review. The service has been good and the quality of the food is consistent. I will be returning!

Two crispy beef tacos. They were good.

When we are in Prestonsburg, we usually eat at this restaurant if we are craving Mexican food. My husband, son and I stopped by on the way home. It was around 4:00 PM, so there weren't many there. We were seated right away and our drink orders were taken and chips brought. The interior is dated with well worn booth seats and the lighting was on the dim side, but was acceptable. Our order was taken and we grazed on chips and salsa. We eat at quite a few Mexican restaurants (being raised in south Texas, I can't go very long without eating Mexican food), so we have had our fair share of good and bad salsa, but this was probably the worst salsa I have ever eaten. It tasted like they used a canned chili tomatoes or used chili powder in the salsa. Either way, it was awful. I requested guacamole to eat with my chips. It was creamy and tasted fine. My husband ordered to crispy beef tacos, which looked and tasted good. My son ordered chicken chimichangas. You can order them soft or fried. I always thought that frying a burrito made them a chimichanga, but I guess I was wrong since this is the second restaurant that offered them fried or soft. Anyway, I tasted this and was not impressed. the chicken was tough and dry. He said that he had eaten better. The entree came with 2, be he ate only one. I ordered the combination #6, which included one tamale, one enchilada ( I prefer cheese enchiladas), rice and beans. I have been in search of a tamale like the ones from home (San Antonio), but, so far, have not found one. This one was OK, and actually has been better than some I have had. The enchilada was OK as well. The cheese seemed thick and not quite melted enough, but it tasted fine. The rice and beans were great. The service is great and the server very friendly. They checked on us often for drink refills, but they were not aggravating. The cost was less than $40 for three, including the tip, so it certainly won't break the bank. There is another Mexican restaurant in Prestonsburg, which seems to be more popular. This location is OK, but the other restaurant is probably going to be a better meal.

Food was great. Taco Tuesday made for a fast cheap meal. Sat at the bar and service was spot on.

There was just one young man serving. He seemed a little tired and unhappy to be working. But he was polite. My colleague ordered chicken hibachi and I ordered teriyaki salmon bento. My salmon bento came with spring rolls, dumplings and salmon atop some pieces of vegetables. The salmon was cooked perfectly- cooked through yet not dry. The spring rolls were freshly fried- but the contents of it was mushy. Dumplings were eelicious delicious Good for a quick meal.

Service was prompt, although there were only 2 other tables seated there around 1pm. We were told to pick any table we wanted, then given the menu once we were seated. Menu pictures are included, I ordered a pink lemonade, hibachi lunch special with the strip steak ordered medium, clear soup, salad and a sushi roll of shrimp with cucumber. Important to note that the rolls that have a slash "/" mean you have to choose between the 2. The ginger dressing on the salad, on top of being quite pale compared to the normal color, was very sweet. I did enjoy it, but first impression wasn't the greatest. The clear soup, unfortunately, was the opposite. It looked delicious, but just tasted like warm water to me. When the waitress asked if I wanted yum yum sauce, I said yes and she brought over the squeeze bottle. Steak was cooked well, I'm thankful that I asked for medium, cause it came a little between medium rare and medium. Just the way I like it. Zucchini was cut quite thick, made it a little difficult to eat the less steamed bits, but the more steamed bits were fine. The rice was in the same situation as the soup. It looked delicious, but was pretty bland. The yum yum sauce helped. Overall, I'd go back if I was in town and hungry, it's certainly not bad. Ordered some to go dishes to try, chicken yakisoba and some fried rice on its own. The chicken was delicious, they really seem to have their meets down pat. The noodles were a little on the dry side, and salty. Rice was the same as in restaurant, kind of bland, need the yum yum sauce to mix into it.
