I dont understand why some give this place a bad reviews, it is such a relaxing place to have dinner, staff is great manager fantastic. The food is is very tasty! Love thier steak tacos and fajitas are the best! Seams like most people give bad reviews, the complainers, can't satisfy all. They need updating, but seams since the Aztec mexican opened has a very large bar in basement more go there to drink, been there was not impressed to expensive and small portions, so Elrodeo lost alot of business, this was such a popular resturant before that place and sobclise. They are hurting so guess can update, we have been going here for years and will keep going as long as they can stay open..please give them a try they need to bring it back to tops,used to have such a waiting line before.lets help. read more

We have eaten at other locations and the food and service was always wonderful. This location was awful. Beginning with the waitress she was rude from beginning to end. I had to ask the hostess for utensils and water because the waitress was standing in the kitchen and not coming outside to the patrons. The appetizer was no whereas hot as it should've been. The food was not at all like the other locations. The chopped meat had chunks of onions (it usually doesn't) and the portions looked half the size. We usually take food home but not this time. If this was our first time eating here we wouldn't be back. Luckily we Know the other locations are good. read more

Not sure where to begin, but here goes.... When we moved to the area a few years ago, this place was the first Mexican restaurant we tried and were ok with it. The food was pretty good and great amounts of it. Nowadays, the food is less than average and leaves you with food poisoning. The service used to be good, now I see the Manager do all the work while the waiters and waitresses sit around on their phones goofing off. You never get what you ask for, I.e. a side of sour cream and have to ask two or three times before they finally decide to get it, or they never get it. They hardly ever come by to see if you need a drink refill or anything else. I can go on, but I'm pretty sure you get the idea. Also there is one waitress there that just stares at people and leaves an awkward or unsettling feeling to me, plus she never smiles... always looking like she is having a bad day or not happy to be there. Ambiance is horrible, ripped chairs, lighting is too dark for a Mexican restaurant, too many loud people cursing and making for an unpleasant dining experience. I realize this is a local chain Mexican restaurant, however there are others here in town that are way better.... Plaza Azteca and La Libertad to name a couple. This place really went down hill and it's sad because the manager is a really nice lady and I hate to see her do all the work that she has hired people to do. takes so long. it is not even busy. there are like 2 other tables with people sitting and I've been here for 30 minutes. Pissed.

It took awhile for us to get seated when we got there. They were not that busy at that point. They could of been short staffed.The loud foul mouth people next to us you could hear a mile away. This did not help with the overall experience.Service was overall slow. But friendly and professional. Where I could see in the kitchen the floors looked horrible.There were numerous lights bulbs burnt out in the dining area. There were several torn seats also in the dining area. Overall the food itself was average. Not has good as it was a few years ago. Based on this visit and this location I will not be back anytime soon. Too many choices in the Hanover area. Wow I think the pictures of this sad shrimp taco will say it all. They couldn't even put lettuce on it as that was a option they failed there. I hope the 3 shrimp didn't put them out of business. Stopped in around 2 for lunch. We were seated fairly quickly but otherwise slow service. Possibly short staffed, I get it. I ordered a strawberry margarita and a water. Worst margarita I've ever had. There were clumps of syrup in the straw and bottom of glass, gross. She didn't bring my water. Salsa that came with chips was hot so I drank my husband's soda while we waited to catch a glimpse of our waitress. I asked for soda instead of margarita and a refill on my husband's since I was drinking it too. She brought mine but not my husband's....and on and on it went. She wasn't rude but she wasn't friendly. My taco trio was bland. The rice had peas and carrots in it, ummm isn't that fried rice? My husband's burrito was ok, the queso poured over it gave it flavor. It did however contain refried beans, not whole beans, kind of unusual. Pretty disappointed. Won't return. read more

I have eaten here for years. Never had an issue. until last night. after eating el rodeo food ordered via door dash I became very ill. vicious vomiting and diarrhea at the same time. my stomach felt like it was eating itself. this continued for three hours. today I woke up with sore throat, body aches and fatigue from vomiting so violently. I will never eat Mexican food ever again. El Rodeo ruined all Mexican food for me. I was in a lot of pain, and never had my stomach hurt so badly in my entire life. Requesting photographs. Calling the restaurant, attempting for 45 minutes and getting a busy signal, I get a Text, 1 hour and 50 minutes later... No call to let me know, now apology, no follow up... It was my wedding anniversary yesterday. So, my husband and I decided to check this restaurant out. It don't look like much from the outside, but the inside was decorated beautifully. It was amazing. Only one person hosting and waiting on everyone. But, that didn't stop the good service, good food, and a smile on her face. Stopped to get carryout when visiting relatives and would do so again. First, the good: The lunch specials are pretty good: Enough food for lunch without being a ridiculous amount. Second, they packed our to go order up so nicely! Everything neatly packed, stacked, and bagged with care (so I didn't show up to my in-laws covered in salsa - win!) Also? Lunch specials on Saturday? Awesome! The food is okay. My chicken burrito was good but not memorable, and my husband and I shared a chimichanga that was very tasty (the sharing part was a mistake, I could have eaten two myself). I like this place. Service is friendly and fast. The food is tasty. We ordered the Fajitas Texanas inside a pineapple bowl. The pineapple makes everything a touch sweeter which permeates into the pepper, onions, steak, chicken, & shrimp. It's $18.99 so it's not cheap but if you share it with someone it's the perfect size meal. The chimichangas are really good here also. Not many decent places in Hanover to eat but this Mexican place is worth a taste. read more

We had visitors from out of town that love Mexican food. We were in Hanover and thought we'd stop by by El Rodeo for a quick bite. They are now charging for a second basket of chips even if you order a dip. Service was horribly slow. Food was cold and lacked flavor. But the kicker was the rice. It was fried rice, with peas and carrots, like they ran out and sent a runner to a Chinese restaurant for takeout or got the cheap freezer stuff from the grocery store. Either way it seems like they have just given up, as have I. There are better options out there. read more

Mediocre... Staff was very nice. Food was okay. We ordered cheese dip and ran out of chips half way through. Not sure if we were suppose to ask for more or what but we bought a $5-6 cheese dip so keep the chips coming it's not like we are pigging on chips and salsa and not ordering entrees. They really need new padding for the booths. I felt like I was almost eye level with the table. It was borderline awkward to eat. The lunch options were decent. I got 2 chicken chimichangas and 1 chicken guesadia. No seasoning or flavoring on any of it. The guesadia did not have cheese like it should have. Even Taco Bell knows to put cheese on it. As a matter of fact Taco Bells is better. In addition, the food was cold. I had to microwave all of it. Which made the meat tough and wrapping soggy. It was a total disappointment. I come here on occasion the food is good, not great. However, the service really seems to have died down. I stood there with my kid for a good 10 minutes with the waitresses watching me, the restaurant only had 4 people so I know it wasn't that busy. My husband and I were seated at a table that literally smlled like a dirty diaper. We were tempted to leave but decided to stick it out becuase they had already brought chips and salsa to the table. We did ask to change tables after we couldn't take it anymore. After we changed tables we waited another 20 MINUTES just to have our order taken. Another 20 minutes later our food was brought out in a very nice display. I got a chicken quesadilla with a side of rice and beans and my husband got the deluxe burrito. My side of black beans did not seemed to be cooked enough and the Mexican rice was sub-par. Both the quesidilla and burrito had WAY to much chicken (if you're a chicken fan, you should DEFINITELY come to this restaurant). The quality of both dishes really wasn't that great. I'm really not a complainer, and my husband and I absolutely LOVE Mexican food, but we probably won't be returning to this restaurant. :( read more

If you plan to eat at El Rodeo be sure to wear your sunglasses. The decor is so bright and stereotypical, reminds me of a giant carved dragon in a Chinese buffet. I ordered the crab enchilada with a cheese sauce. While I can't speak to the rest of their menu I can say, DON'T ORDER THESE! For starters they were obvious made with bought in frozen crab cakes broken up to fit the shell. My wife had the chicken enchilada which she describes as, "the enchilada was ok, but the rice was disappointing." The staff was very pleasant and friendly. Under new management must have done some wonders for this little restaurant, who I feel hit some early obstacles after their initial opening, with consistency, cleanliness, and customer service. So far, after two visits this Spring, I am pretty satisfied with the dishes we've gotten as a family. In particular, I would like to call your attention to the Vallarta tacos (chicken and chorizo), today's lunch selection for moi. The Vallarta Tacos were INSANELY, TOTALLY DELICIOUS! What an outstanding meal - the corn soft tacos (three) arrived with chopped (not shredded) chicken and crumbled chorizo, seasoned with a hot tomato salsa (and some extra on the side) with a sprinkling of raw chopped onions on top with a generous dose of chopped cilantro atop each mound! With a side of rice and beans, this was a very hearty meal and of course I had to slather fresh salsa on each one to really ramp up my cilantro intake!! Hubs and son donated their guacamole salad to me, along with sour cream, and immediately, lunch took on a heavenly tone, as angels sang praises on high as I took my first bite. It was a divine experience. My only regret was not taking pictures BEFORE I devoured this dish. It will be a go-to in the future - highly recommended!! read more

Came out for Mother's Day sat for 15 mins and had to flag someone down to get our drink order. Another 15 mins so by had to flag someone else down to get our food ordered. We had to wait for 15 minutes before any employees would even ask if we needed to be seated. Then told my boyfriend he had to wear a mask before we could be seated when he has a medical condition and cant wear one without having trouble breathing. We stood in the front of the restaurant for 15 minutes around people not being six feet apart but then they try to enforce the mask when we are just walking to a table to take the masks off anyway to eat. read more

Very highly-decorated Mexi-American restaurant. The food arrived very quickly. My aunt's food was pretty standard Mexican...like a chimichanga or something...and tasted pretty standard. I ordered a spinach and cheese enchilada, and specifically asked "Is anything else mixed in with the spinach, like onions or tomatoes?" I'm a texture person, and unless the tomatoes are pureed and the onions are caramelized or just REALLY cooked (like in Indian food)...I'm not a fan. The server specifically said "No...there are no other things but spinach." Imagine my disappointment when there were more onions inside than spinach. Big, barely cooked onions. I LIKE spinach (and love cheese) yet all I could taste was onions, even when I pushed them aside. The disappointment continued when the server never came back. I would've ordered something else had she returned. I ate my rice and beans, about 5 bites of my enchilada, and some of my aunt's food...otherwise I would've left hungry. Food and service were good. Place is a little run down. Plexigalas tabletops were worn, scratched, cracked and generally not nice. There was a sticky spot which had not been wiped off completely when the table was bussed. Makes you wonder what else was dirty. read more

Horrible customer service. I have been going to this restaurant for 10 years on and off . The food is hit & miss. Tonight we went to have a nice dinner and I happen to bring in a starbucks coffee. I guess the waitress didnt see me bring in my coffee. And I didnt think I was doing anything wrong. I have been to many restaurants and they let me bring in a bottled or a starbucks drink. So when the waitess asked us what we wanted to drink I said I would like water because I had my starbucks drink. The waitress spoke harshly to me and said I could not drink my coffee drink there, so my niece said I will bring it to the car and you can drink it later. The waitress was aware that my niece was going to bring my coffee to the car. The next thing that happens is the manager came to our table to tell us the same thing, I asked her why I couldnt I have my drink there and she said because they sell coffee and I answered but its not starbucks. The manager was rude and started yelling at me and the waitress joined in yelling also. My niece came back to the table abd couldnt believe what was going on and said lets go. This was a horiffic experience and we couldnt believe they would treat customers like this. I will never go back to El Rodeo and neither should you. They could have been much kinder than the way they treated us. read more

This was a nice traditional restaurant. Food was very good and in manageable portions. Service was exceptional, as was management. They welcomed my Service Dog. Yum! Fun and festive atmosphere...Friendly wait staff and quick service. Prices are reasonable and the Margaritas are delicious with a wide variety of choices. Recommend sitting outside. You may have to look at a car lot, but it's quite relaxing. read more
