We also split a garden salad, which was another A+. And for our entrée, we had the chef special steak and shrimp lo mein which was also very good. I can give it an A-. I would have preferred that it was a little more "spicy"... But I think that most folks in Pennsylvania probably would not enjoy it the way I enjoy it... That is spicy. Jess hooked me up. Got me a cold beer though it oddly didn't taste like a Miller Lite but it was very cold and wet (meeting two of the three requirements) so I drank it. Got a bowl of French Onion soup, a side salad and some wings. The soup was deeply flavorful with croutons that were not stale, lots of cheese and fried funions on top. It was interesting but flavorful. The side salad could've had a bit more salad, but OK and the wings were really tender perfectly done and flavored with sweet-and-sour sauce. I was in the Hanover area for some family things, and we decided to head up to the C & D Bar and Grill for dinner. Entering, there is a bit of an interesting layout for the place. There is a ring of tables around the outside edge of the building with windows, and then there is a boundary, then a central eating area that is appropriate for larger group tables. Since we were a fairly large group of about ten, we sat in the center area. I expect that being able to see out would be nice, however. We were seated pretty quickly even with our large group... It was a Thursday evening, so not exactly a busy evening to begin with. The menu has what I would call higher end bar and grill items on it, with prices a bit higher than your typical steak chains, but not excessively so. We were informed that they were out of the prime rib, which disappointed my aunt somewhat. I went for the blackened sirloin, which is topped with mushrooms, onions, and a demi-glace, along with a side salad and mashed potato. I will say it was a tasty steak (it had been a good while since I have had a steak in a restaurant, despite trying to find one that was not a chain restaurant over the past month or two) and the onion and mushroom on top were a nice enhancement. The potatoes were tasty as well, and had that lumpiness that I truly desire with my mashed potatoes that lets you know they are freshly made. I also got a chance to try a bit of the haddock, which is not something easy to get down South where I am from. It was also quite tasty. We ate well, we got caught up on a lot of things with the family, and enjoyed our time at the restaurant. Our servers kept our water and other drinks going, and nothing was delayed. I am sure that I will be back up in Hanover at some point, and will be able to explore more restaurants in the area, keeping in my hip pocket a return to C & D at some point. read more

My husband and I went to dinner and we ordered the chicken Marsala. This is NOT chicken Marsala. It is something totally different. When I asked the waitress (Malone) what it was she told me it was Greek chicken Marsala. This entree had sun dried tomatoes, cheese, and artichokes. No mushrooms at all. I didn't even think it tasted like Marsala wine. It was sour tasting. Not good. I told the waitress and she told us to read the menu next time. We didn't get a discount or our money back. This restaurant has always been so so with the food. We thought we would give it another shot but we are definitely not ever going back. read more

Everything was top of the line! My applewood grilled ribeye steak was absolutely delicious! My wife had the scallops and she reported the same satisfaction. The young lady served us with no delay. What a lovely place! This place has a homey vibe to it. We were seated in the sunroom. It makes you feel like your at your grandma's house. Our waiter was terrific. He was incredibly attentive and accommodating. We arrived during lunch but asked for the dinner menu instead, as it had a broader selection. He made it happen for us. The food was spectacular. The portions were generous. The offer a bloody mary that is made with BBQ flavored whiskey. It was one of the best drinks I have ever had. I can't recommend this place enough! We have not been here for a while and it was my wife's birthday so we decided to stop by Thursday night. Just as we remembered. Service and atmosphere was perfect. The Beef Wellington Appetizer is a great start and I can really recommend it. My wife had the Scallops and really enjoyed it I had the Crab Tortellinis and it was excellent. Large hunks of Crab meat and the flavor was perfect. If you get dessert, I recommend the Bread Pudding but warning you should share it. It's delicious but a huge portion. 5/21/21 We are local to this restaurant and never stopped here for dinner until yesterday and we must say, we have been missing out on some really great food ! We arrived around 6:30 and got seated and our waiter did a great job greeting us and taking our drink order and appetizer order .... We went with the shrimp cocktail which was outstanding ! My wife had some type of a wedge salad with blackened shrimp and I went with the broiled crab cakes. Simply Outstanding ! Everything arrived well plated and hot .... The blackened shrimp are absolutely killer in flavor and size and the crab cakes were all crab meat and broiled to perfection ! Very impressed indeed .... The menu selections are amazing and priced right and the food we watched other diners getting served all looked perfect !! The chef sent out a little sample to start off dinner and a little surprise when we paid our tab was some freshly baked cookies .... Nothing fancy but a very nice thought by the owners .... We brought friends from Maryland for dinner Friday evening, November 22 after making reservations. Although others enjoyed their meal. I did not. I ordered C&D shrimp and found it to be tasteless and so did my friends although the shrimp or a good size the tails have not been removed. The meal was dry and lacked sauce. The asparagus was large and tough, and the pasta was mushy . If you consider this your signature dish I beg to differ Jen W was our waitress who was not apologetic or sympathetic, and did not offer replacement meal she did offer reduction, but then charges for a shrimp cocktail and added the cost of a salad. The salad had two cherry tomatoes, two hunks of cucumber, tiny bit of onion and mostly Lettuce There is of us having the salad agreed it was OK nothing great. I am not in the habit of writing reviews, and in fact, this is my first. I hope this will help for future patrons who did not speak up when dissatisfied. read more

Last week my family and I had dinner at the Rocks. It was one of the slowest and worst food we had in a long time. 1 hour and 20 min from start to finish for bar food/specials and not something fine dining. We order our drinks and food immediately. Youngest had cheese sticks that came out around 35 min. Middle kiddo order chicken fingers and apple sauce. Apple sauce came out with the cheese sticks. Around 50 min we were served ice cold tacos, tacos that were so good that the shredded cheese on the meat didn't melt. They only serve hard tacos, that had barely any meat, charge extra for jalapeños and sour cream. Another few minutes for my oldest kid's burger (which was completely well done) and an order of wings for the table and the middle kiddos chicken tenders. We couldn't even send it back as we didn't want to wait another 30+ minutes for cold tacos again and a well done burger. As being frequent regulars this place unfortunately is not worth the price, wait, or food. Place as least seemed clean since having to close recently for deep cleaning due to a norovirus outbreak, and wings were decent. Their mild sauce is disgusting as it is a mix of bbq and hot sauce instead of hot sauce and butter; hot sauce is basic, garlic Parmesan is the best it is a roasted garlic Parm. Unfortunately, this place is off our place to go: would never recommend anyone to go here. read more

I lived near this place for 24 years and never dined here. It always struck me as a relic of a restaurant and I figured the menu would be typical Pennsylvania boring broiled haddock, ham steaks and au gratin potatoes. On a whim we stopped and were pleasantly surprised. I had a great steak, good cocktail and a fantastic piece of cheesecake. Must be made in house. The menu had a lot to choose from and we all felt satisfied. Service was good. The place is clean. With appetizers, cocktails and dessert the price was @$60/pp. not bad for what the meal was and included. I'd argue it beats Atland House and the Hanover Country Club easily. If you measure quality to value, it gives Sidney a hard fight. My only observation and it has nothing to do with the restaurant, was the crowd. You're out to a decent dinner with your family, take off your ball cap, wear a short with sleeves, maybe take a shower first?!? Have some respect, if not for yourself for the people you're dining with. read more

Food Here can be hit or miss. One of my visits here i ordered the crab cakes. They were full of lump meat but were very dry and flavorless. I do not recommend them. They have a wedge salad with blacken shrimp. I like that a lot and would order it again. Service is alway good here for the most part. Rocks lounge is the bar side with a little bit of a different menu. They have really good food specials. If you can find a seat. I will continue to come to Rocks. Prior to going to the restaurant, I checked their website... not one mention of their new ID policy... there was a sign on our table and a sign on the front door... never thought that I this would pertain to an old 77 year old woman... me! (And we finally got an opportunity to come out) So, we called in a reservation for 2 a few hours before arriving here in date night. Our table was ready exact when we arrived, with food and alcohol menus laid out. There was some super prompt service by our waitress (Malone). I ordered the Black N Bleu burger ($9.99), and my wife has the seafood jagmbalaya ($23.99), rolls and a salad accompanied our meal. We also got a bowl of seafood soup (aprx $6). The past several times we've been here, screaming kids, running around through isles, and loud yelling has ruined the experience. EITHER forbid young children, or seat them in a separate room or we will NOT be coming back. Not your fault except that if you allow such loud disruptions, PUT THEM in a separate location NOT the center of your restaurant. This was my first time at this restaurant. I was part of a party of 3 on a Saturday evening. There was a 45 minute wait which according to the waitress, is typical for a Friday and Saturday. However, according to the Hostess, if you call ahead, you can be sat a lot quicker (I agree as I witnessed many people come in a get seated right away). I ordered the Tortellini Ala Vodka, side salad and a cup of crab bisque. I do not recommend the crab bisque. It was very sour. The Tortellini Ala Vodka was good and had a lot of crab in it.
