The food and service here are very good! I moved here from Southern California and have been on a hunt for great tasting Mexican food since I arrived. This El Rodeo definitely fills that void for me. The Carne Asada here is some of the best I've had. It's reminiscent of back yard BBQs & gatherings. While I usually get the Carne Asada dishes here, my fiance sticks to the chicken. The chicken itself is very flavorful and delicious. I would recommend this place to visiting family members (from So.Cal), therefore, I would definitely recommend this El Rodeo to anyone! read more

Very upset when I went there for lunch today. I asked for the shrimp enchiladas with no cheese because I am lactose intolerant and get severely ill when I eat anything that has dairy in it. My food came out and there was no cheese on top, where they normally put the cheese on. I ate half my enchilada and I noticed that it tasted odd. I opened the enchilada and noticed there was melted cheese on the inside. I told the waitress again that I couldn't have cheese, that I get very ill. They made me a new order but still made me pay for my meal! I can get very sick, and they neglected to make sure that there was no cheese on my meal and still charged me for it. We had dinner with the kids and grandkids here and it was just ok. I ordered the enchilada supreme based on the picture in the menu. The enchiladas looked nothing like what I got, hardly containing any filling. My wife, all 95 lbs. of her, complained that the serving size was misleading as the food covers the plate but just barely. We were both still hungry so we filled up on chips & salsa. Won't be back. We have been coming to the EL RODEO in Lemoyne for the past 16 years ,the wait staff has always demonstrated courtesy and attention to detail. However the management as of late is curt and not welcoming. In the past the management has been friendly. The attitude of management has made the dining experience negative. Lemoyne location-Very disappointing takeout. Was looking for a much deserved night off from cooking since the start of the quarantine to my kitchen. I suggested El Rodeo to my family and wished I had cooked myself. Usually eat in is a great experience however take out portions were very small. Meals are "beefed up" with an overabundance of rice,very little meat and the usual side dishes like refried beans were simply missing from the takeout contianers. If restaurants are feeling the economic squeeze they should simply pare down their menu to less options-not take your hard to come by money with a sealed container of "they'll be home by the time they find out." read more

I love el rodeo first they give you great chips and spicy salsa.Next you order dinner I usually get the chicken burrito it is great.Then is dessert I recommend them fried ice cream it is vanilla ice cream a crispy tortilla chip topped with cinnamon! Sure Chicago's got some fantastic restaurants, but El Rodeo did Mexican food right - clean, quick, hot, great tasting, and reasonably cheap. The bottomless chips and salsa are a trap, beware! 3 of these places within a 5 mile radius seems semi excessive, but they all have great food that is consistent throughout each location. The huge negative of this spot is that it is the only place in the area without a liquor license so like the other review, appreciate your virgins. If you ask them they will say they are going to get one soon. however "soon" has been the last few years. Give the Hawaiian fajitas a shot you don't have to get it served in the half pineapple if you don't want to, it just adds to the flair. Tasty tho. read more

I went there for the very first time when I first walk in I love how they had art everywhere it was very peaceful looking at it. sense i ate by myself I was served chips and salsa and the chips we're just a little stale but the salsa was great when I ordered my food it only took 5 minutes to get it which is good but I know it comes from a Distributing plant now but most Mexican places get there food like that but the food was pretty good they really added spices to it whinch made it taste better and I'll probably go back again but this time with friends and it was cheap with friendly waitresses read more

The food is the same at their other locations, which is a notch over Fiesta Mexico, and several notches below the Mexico Lindo taco truck. Yet once when I went there, I saw that they keep their tortilla chips in a garbage can (clean I presume) but who knows how old they were. I told my boyfriend that I was hungry for some generic mexican food, so he suggested coming here. However, they exceeded my expectations when it comes to generic. The enchiladas completely lacked flavor and the meal itself was barely filling, so I ended up eating the entire basket of chips just to make myself feel somewhat full. The tables were extremely uncomfortable and the atmosphere was just uninviting. I realize that this is just a chain "mexican" restaurant and I should not have had high expectations, but I at least expected something better than what tasted like a microwaved dinner. read more

Better than Yelp reviews advertise, but neither truly authentic or impressive (not uncommon for the area). No liquor license since at least 1998 or so - indicating many folks are confused about the history here - though most of their other locations throughout the area do carry one. However, with both a state store and a beer distributor within viewing distance, all of your libation needs are covered. Enjoy the Molcajete (Chile Relleno, Fajitas Picante and Carnitas are also very good), smile politely at the Christmas garland that adorns the lighting fixtures and have some fun. read more

Plus, we were ready for our check but we had to ask; the staff did not even ask if we needed a refill on our drinks--our margarita was also flat. My order was salty and cold. My daughter ordered two soft tacos. She got enough meat, lettuce and cheese for maybe one. The meat should have been strained, way too much grease. The tortilla was way too big. Nobody wants to eat just soft tortilla. Our chips were a darker color, tasted burnt but i think it was the grease they were cooked in that was burnt. Taco salad shell was kinda greasy also. Best Mexican restaurant location in the family owned and operated chain. Consistently good taste and quality, friendly attentive waitstaff, great decor. Today we had the Special dinner a two platter with almost everything they serve on it, our option was the Chile Authentico, it is a pablano pepper stuffed with cheese dipped in egg batter and fried, enough food for two. The complimentary chips were fresh and crisp not greasy, the salsa fresh, chunky and flavorful. Our other party had the Fajitas Pecante, he ordered them Extra Pecante, the serving was generous with equal portions of beef and chicken and slightly more vegetables filling out, the flour tortillas were hot and fresh, the condiments were fresh....guacamole, sour cream, lettuce, and the sides of beans and rice flavorful and steaming hot. When my wife came to the U.S. she didn't like Mexican food, but it didn't take more than a few trips to El Rodeo to change that tune. The food is good and the prices fair. The salsa (and tortilla chips) that you're given to munch on while you wait is superb. It really is among the best salsas I've had. (We often get an order of it to go.) Both my wife and I love the enchiladas verdes. We've tried some other dishes too and have never been disappointed. The wait time from placing an order to being served is next to none. That scares me a bit as it might imply that everything is not made fresh and that there's some sort of assembly line in back. Still, even if that were the case, I have no reason to complain. The food has always tasted good and been of excellent quality. My only reason for withholding a star is that I'm not a fan of the restaurant's ambiance. read more

Do not order take out from here, at least without triple checking your charges. We ordered guacamole and cheese dip with prices of $8.25 and $3.50 on the menu. When my husband arrived, they charged him $23.52 and even wouldn't give him chips without him paying another $2.00. They refuse to reverse any of the charges. Horrible ... Ordered tilapia with rice and veggies.. Well, it came with fishy smell, I completely lost my appetite.. How come a dish smells like a raw fishy fish??? We come to this location frequently. Its close to work and quick service, very consistent quality of food, service is friendly. We also like to come here in the evening, since they don't have a liquor license at this location you don't get the rowdy crowd. My favorites are chicken taco salad, mole poblano and tapitio. I visit this El Rodeo about once a month. The food is very tasty and not very expensive, so it's a great place to take a family. The service is very fast and you get chips and salsa while you wait. We were pushed to order before we were barely seated. When we asked for water, she returned and said at least four times, "ready to order?" I said I needed time to read the Menu, she hurried away, came back with chips, water andd nearly spilled the water on us when she slammed it on the table. Again, immediately demanding that we order! When the Order came, she slammed the plates down and was "huffy" when we pointed out that what she delivered was not what we ordered. When the order was replaced, it did not look like anything we ordered. We ate what we felt looked safe which was not much. The table wobbled so we had to take turns cutting food, lifting beverages off the table so they wouldn't spill. The chairs were so weak that they wobbled and rocked. The place was not at all crowded so we should have realized it was not good. Never again will we eat here! read more
