Just had to return because I don't think I have had such a terrible experience with food in a really really long time. The food was so rotten as in spoiled I am here thinking about how bad it hurt my tummy days later so I figured I would share again because lord it gave me the runs I think the food was all very old re frozen a few times Lord it was terrible

The food here is so good! I didn't know what authentic tacos truly tasted like until I came here. The service is kind and the environment makes me feel like I'm in Mexico. It's a cozy cute restaurant. They make the tortillas from scratch and the food tastes fresh. In the picture: I got one of each of the tacos with the corn tortilla. I got it to go. I would suggest eating them right away though I could see these had the potential if too left too long they could leak through. The sauces are made from scratch everything is so good about this place. Truly a hidden gem.

Very unassuming store front that simply knocked my socks off. Grabbed lunch with a friend and ended up texting my wife to ask if she wanted anything to go after I had 2 bites. There's lots of attractive food options in the area, don't sleep on this one!

Barbacoa Burrito, hot sauce, Platanos Fritos

I've been a customer of El Sabor for a while, and I have enjoyed so many of their bean, cheese, and chorizo pupusas! They're hot, delicious, and affordable. Plus, they always come out quickly. Today, I veered off my usual path and got a barbacoa burrito that I naturally described as "incredibly memorable." The burrito is saucy, cheesy, and filled with meat. There's a wonderful smoky flavor that is complemented perfectly by both hot sauces. And of course, it's huge! I am so thankful to live near this place!

We order from here regularly. Delicious comfort food. I recommend as a takeout place. The dining room is small and spare.

Take out orders have been consistently good. We've liked everything we've tried and, in particular, the tres leches cake is excellent.

Are they really open at 8 am? Is there a breakfast taco / breakfast menu?

I haven't checked how early they open but there is a lot of morning foot traffic with neighborhood people walking to metro so it would make sense. Breakfast torta is my favorite.

We were sat right away and I was surprised at how big the restaurant is (way bigger than it looks from the outside!). I started with a hibiscus margarita, which was delicious. Then we ordered a few things to split, including: guac and tostadas, charred cabbage, gorditas with chorizo, aguachile negro, and the beef short rib platter. The charred cabbage was the biggest sleeper hit. It was so flavorful and unlike anything I've ever had before. Everything else was delicious, although the aguachile was probably my least favorite of what we tried. We finished with the rose water tres leches and the dulce de leche crepes. The tres leches were pretty good but the crepes were amazing. I don't usually love dulce de leche, but it was definitely a standout.

If you are planning to visit during popular dining hours, it might be worth it to make a reservation. We arrived during a weekend around 5:30 pm, and the place was somewhat empty. However, by 6-6:15 pm, the place was PACKED. I was a very surprised (in a good way) that the menu was a bit smaller compared to other Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurants in the area. I necessarily do not think the smaller menu is a bad thing because, with a smaller menu, a restaurant can focus on preparing everything well (i.e., it's easier to do a good job with 20-item menu versus a 50+-item menu). For my dining pleasure, I went with the enchiladas suizas with a few margaritas. Overall, I thought my plate was very delicious; however, other diners at my table and I noticed that the portion sizes were a bit small for the price. Perhaps, the restaurant uses higher quality ingredients for its dishes. Although the margarita sizes might appear to be small, they definitely are not "small" in power/punch, so the $13-$18 price range is appropriate. My favorite margarita of the night definitely was the El Jardinero, which was a wonderful mix of carrot, cilantro, peach, lime and a semi-spicy pepper of sorts. Collectively, we all thought the service was exceptional because our waitress constantly visited the table. Personally, I thought it was a bit overkill, but that's a very, very minor complaint based on my very, very personal preference.

Every component is perfect and I wouldn't change a thing. I did really want to try their breakfast burrito and was sad (& surprised) they aren't open for breakfast on Mondays, because online it says they are. Anyways, we got there right when they opened for dinner and others clearly had the same idea. You order inside at the counter, sit and they bring you your food. Our food did take awhile to come out though, and we were giving the tables around us side eye for getting their food before us. We devoured our chips and salsa in the meantime. All 3 salsas are amazing and worth getting! They went great on the burrito too. Matcha horchata and Arnold Palmer were refreshing, and I appreciate the more inventive drinks than your standard taqueria. And now onto the main event... THE California burrito. Man, it made me happy to be alive. We sat on the patio and it was lovely, and shaded by the umbrellas.

There was parking right up the street from the restaurant. I was shocked how small the restaurant was compared to photos I'd seen online. Regardless the space and Takoma Park area is so quaint and cute I was immediately greeted when I walked in and the team was overall very friendly. I loved the decor of the space. A subtle pink interior with San Pancho branded flags hanging from the ceiling. It was making me want to purchase merch while I was there. I ordered their breakfast burrito with barbacoa since the original doesn't come with meat. It came out to pretty much 20 bucks. That price is steeeeep in my books! The burrito was done pretty quickly and came with salsa. When I got home I couldn't wait to dive in and I must say the burrito was good for the DMV but didn't quite hit the mark overall for me. It felt very mushy in texture overall. The salsa lacked spice. And I do wish there were potatoes inside. Not sure I'll be back anytime soon for another high priced breakfast burrito but will still give recommend because I feel like a lot of it is my personal preference. Wishing San Pancho all of the success and can't wait to try other items on their menu

The decor is simple, no table clothes or frills but it does live up to 'fine cuisine' with excellent food and presentation (another subtle touch is if you leave the table, you return to a nicely folded napkin). We got nearly everything on the menu including all the desserts and Mexican hot chocolate (yum, lightly spicy and piping hot!) . As others have said their guacamole is excellent...do check the charges though bc they added salsa and chips to the tab which we did not order (they removed). Also, the first order of guac came with big bowl of chips, but none with the second order of guac- not a problem though because you do not go hungry. Portions are quite generous.
