The Pembroke was a great find while staying at a hotel in the area. I ordered the vodka pasta and an IPA, and both were excellent. The atmosphere and overall aesthetic were great, but the service really stood out -- everyone was friendly and attentive. I'd definitely recommend checking out The Pembroke if you're staying in or visiting the Dupont Circle area. It's a great spot for a meal and definitely somewhere I'd go back to. read more

My fiancé and I got to give the Pembroke a try for both dinner and brunch while staying at The Dupont Hotel (which the restaurant is attached to) The atmosphere of the place is very pleasant, both feeling slightly upscale but not quite stuffy. Also, a large portion of the space is outside or right next to a large window, making it very bright and airy. Additionally there is a bar with seating as well Service was top notch. Everything came out very quickly, the staff were all very friendly, and our water glasses were very rarely left empty Have a solid selection of options, but we were not a huge fan of the food itself. I tried the squid ink pasta for dinner and my fiance got the bolognese, and we split a levain bread app. The bread was great, but neither of us loved our pasta dishes (which were apparently homemade btw). Penbrook delivered a genuinely impressive breakfast experience, starting with amazing service and consistently great food. The standout of the morning was the breakfast side potatoes--crispy, seasoned perfectly, and easily something I'd come back for. The breadbasket came with three pastries, which felt a bit smaller than expected, but the almond croissant more than made up for it. On the heartier side, the chicken and waffles were extremely filling thanks to the dense waffles, so definitely a dish to tackle with an appetite. One of the biggest surprises was the brunch salad with salmon, which ended up being one of the best salads I've had in a long time--fresh, balanced, and satisfying. The breakfast sandwich was another highlight: so good that it's now the new standard I'll compare all other breakfast sandwiches to. The smoked salmon bagel was also a fun experience, served deconstructed so you can build each bite exactly how you like it. Not everything was a hit--the French toast wasn't my favorite--but the overall meal was strong enough that it barely detracted from the experience. Brunch offers a few additions beyond the regular breakfast menu, but overall it's very similar to their standard breakfast, just with a couple of extra options. It tends to get full on the weekends to make a reservation. Was craving pasta and this more than satisfied the craving. Everything was SO GOOD! I got a passion fruit martini that I really liked. My sister didn't love her Hugo spritz. The mezcal margarita was also good. We started with the grilled octopus. It was cooked to perfection and the chimichuri sauce was so nice with it. Then we shared the vodka pasta and the lamb bolognese. Wow both of these were incredible. We also got truffle fries. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Yum! Fantastic New American / European restaurant in a gorgeous space. I visited the Pembroke as part of a work team dinner during Restaurant Week, and we were thoroughly impressed by the quality of the food, super friendly service, and great ambiance. The space is gorgeous; I love all the plants, and the light brown, light blue, and white color combination for their furniture makes the space look classy and modern. The light brown leather couches are comfortable, and I love the way they circle around the tables to create a natural, cozy booth. Our food was just as beautiful as the space. The Restaurant Week menu comes with an appetizer, main, and dessert. Given how indecisive I can be (and how expansive the normal menu is), I was grateful to have my choices narrowed down a bit. I started off my meal with the octopus. The octopus was remarkably tender and not overly chewy, and had a delightful char that gave it a slightly smoky flavor. They double downed on the smokiness with their burnt chili oil, which, alongside the lemon and salsa verde, gave the dish a wonderfully balanced smoky, savory, and slightly acidic flavor. The crushed potatoes had a lovely crispy shell on the outside and served as a great base for the tender octopus. The main course was probably the easiest choice of the evening -- I'm absolutely obsessed with branzino, so the second I saw it on the Restaurant Week menu, I knew that was what I had to get. The fish is beautifully broiled, with a nice, crispy skin and super tender, flaky flesh. It's topped with a few pieces of roasted garlic and a wedge of lemon. The fresh lemon juice, as well as the lovely side salad, offered a great pop of freshness to bring the whole dish together. And finally, for our dessert, I chose the chocolate torta. This wonderful dessert is remarkably rich and decadent, with a strong dark chocolate flavor. It's topped with a lovely marsala date sauce and scoop of sheep's yogurt ice cream, but still doesn't feel overly sweet. The sheep's yogurt in the ice cream offers a bit of tanginess, and I loved the addition of the candied walnuts for a bit of crunch. read more

A weekend brunch - yes please! A friend who recently relocated from here came back for a visit and gathered four of us for a leisurely brunch at this place. None of us had ever been here. I like new places. Dupont Circle was easy parking this time of morning - around 10. I love trying chicken and waffles at different spots and when I saw it on the menu I had to get it, even if I wasn't ravenous. The menu is a little pricey (most in DC are), but the chicken & waffles was also one of the better values (IMO). The cornmeal waffle (which I've had it only found at a few other places) was definitely on point! My fellow patrons had never had a cornmeal waffle and were skeptical, so I let them try and - they approved. The chicken was fried well, even if it could've used a bit more flavor. The latte was as good as I expected it to be. The decor in this place is gorgeous, very elevated, and the weather was perfect that day for an indoor or outdoor seating. I've been to the Pembroke twice, once a couple of years ago and most recently on March 8, 2026, a Sunday. It was two of my friends and me; we were seated immediately upon arrival as we had a reservation. This restaurant is so cute and has such a nice, classy, and perfect brunch atmosphere. For my meal, I got the steak and eggs; I subbed out the breakfast potatoes for an avocado. The food was quite good; my steak was cooked perfectly, and everything was well seasoned. I recall getting Crab Cake Benedict years ago, and I recall that it was delicious. Service was friendly and attentive both times I have been here, and in general, it's a great spot for brunch. I was lucky to have breakfast here every morning for the past four days since I was staying at the hotel. My only wish was that my stomach was bigger so that I could finish the food. I tried something different everyday and each bite did not disappoint. The breakfast menu had a little something for everyone. My favorite by far was the french toast. I'm going to dream about the brûlée banana! Since I was here for a work event, I was embarrassed to have to dine alone. But the restaurant was so beautiful with a nice view. Perfect vibe to mentally prepare for the day. The best part of the experience was the service. They were extremely attentive and even remembered my coffee order by the end of the week. My favorite interactions were with the hostess. I believe her name was Dina, she made each experience personable and I admired how she helped her team to make sure everyone had a great dining experience. However, on my last day, I overheard an interaction with another worker where she had politely told him that a table was waiting for their check. She received a nasty response from him saying that he already knew and they're just going to have to wait. I hope that management works on the team dynamic so that exceptional members like Dina are treated with respect. read more

Breakfast was phenomenal!!! I ordered the flavorful Pembroke American breakfast which contains eggs your way, bacon, potatoes, charred greens, and a slice of sourdough bread. These flavors blended together perfectly, making this dish memorable with each bite. The eggs were scrambled with white cheddar-FLUFFY and oozing with buttery goodness. The bacon was fried just right! The breakfast potatoes were bursting with herbs and a consistency in preparation. The charred greens added a balance to the fattiness from the bacon and eggs, meshing the dish together. This entire dish was stellar and no, I did not try the bread because the potatoes left me stuffed lol My boyfriend had the brioche French toast which came topped with apples. Whew! Another great pick! I took a small bite and was immediately stopped in my tracks by the softness, burst of cinnamon, and extraordinary taste! Our lattes were perfect! To conclude the dish, our amazing waiter provided us with a complimentary dessert to celebrate my birthday. Truly a lower than average experience food wise. Arti and Jose were great servers! Very attentive and provided recommendations without hesitation. My main issue here is with a manager I presume she was. The steak and eggs I had ordered came with a hair on the side of the potatoes. She stopped by shortly after our food came to ask how things was and that is when I brought up the hair. I just asked for the potatoes to be remade. I understand hair happens but I was not thrilled when she insisted on remaking my entire dish. I gave up after the third insistence after I repeatedly said it was fine, I just want new potatoes. My original dish was delicious (I avoided the potatoes of course). Steak and eggs were cooked to perfection. However, my new dish was horrible. I had a feeling it was going to be awful as it's expected the new dish would be rushed whenever the original dish gets sent back. The steak was chewy and not medium cooked. Overall dish was very salty. If they added another seasoning I did not notice as the salt overwhelmed it. It also appears they doubled portioned everything but the steak. I would have much appreciated the original dish with the hair in it. I had expressed this to Arti and he was sympathetic. He was unknown to the issue I had with my dish. At that point I didn't really want anything more from here. Just the check and to leave. After that whole incident, I would have assumed my order would have been discounted or taken off the bill. That was not the case. She also vanished from our sight since taking my food back. My mom ended up not enjoying her meal either. She had the French omelette and thought the mustard was a rather overpowering touch to it. My mom was also surprised my meal was still on the bill. She was going to complain but I withheld as it truly is not that deep especially since the manager didn't care to come back to check if the new dish was satisfactory or not. I was given a warning not to go here by my friends and boy did I wish I listened. I wouldn't come back on my own accord but to eaches own. We ate breakfast here twice on a recent trip to DC. The first time we tried the "healthier" options--oatmeal, yogurt, and coffee. All of them were perfectly serviceable, but nothing wowed us, and we really didn't care for the coffee. The second day, though, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience! We got a cappuccino and a latte, and they were much better than the coffee. We got a cinnamon roll for the table--holy mackerel!! You could definitely share it with four or five people--it's huge! It's also delicious. Lots of gooey frosting, hazelnuts, and soft bread. I'm pretty sure there was orange in the frosting, too, and I liked that. For my meal I had the standard breakfast--it was so big. That we decided to share it the next time we ate there. Normally I get my eggs over-medium, but I went with scrambled and they were perfect!! The eggs were soft, yet still substantial--just perfect. The best part of the meal, though, was the warmth of the staff and servers. The hostess and manager remembered us from the previous day, and they were both very kind and welcoming. Our server, Gio, was a gem. This dish was heavenly with some pesto that had a bit of a kick and potatoes. The burrata app was also tasty as the tomatoes were fresh. Came here for late night drunk food. After going to a friend's event at a rooftop bar where they promised us food but only gave us drinks we needed some food to swap up the alcohol. I ended up getting the swordfish. Everything was rather blend nothing really stood out. The piece of fish I got was rather large but honestly for the price point I thought it was a rip off. Parking is on the street but most of us typically walk or use Uber when coming to this location If was in the area and wanted to try it I'd recommend coming for brunch but not for dinner. The value for the quality of food is not there for an evening meal. Have to admit that smashed potatoes were very flavorful with their seasoning on it, not dry or bland at all! It was a large portion, so it was filling. Great one for sharing if you wish! I had a craving for lemon ricotta pancakes and saw that The Pembroke had them on their menu, so we decided to come here for breakfast. I ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes, and unfortunately they looked much better than they tasted. Usually these pancakes are fluffy, light, and slightly creamy from the ricotta, but these were dense and lacked flavor. My husband ordered the French cheese omelette, which was good, but extremely overpriced. The omelette alone was nearly $40 after adding a few ingredients (they charge $2 per ingredient). We also had to order bread separately -- one slice of bread for $6 -- and a small glass of orange juice was $9. The pancakes were $24 and honestly disappointing. I understand that hotel restaurants tend to be more expensive, but the quality should match the price. In this case, it really didn't. My partner and I recently enjoyed a wonderful weekday dinner at the Pembroke. It's been many years since we've been here, and are glad the place is just is good as we remembered! Our first time here was while we were living in California and visiting family in the DC area. We flew in for Thanksgiving and stayed at the Dupont Circle Hotel, and this restaurant is located on the ground floor level. It was a completely different vibe coming for a Thanksgiving brunch during the day versus our romantic night time dinner. Both were fantastic and I'm glad we got to experience both. For our date night out, I ordered the Danita Heritage Filet as my main entry. It didn't disappoint and was seasoned perfectly with a touch of salt that truly brought out the flavors. Other stand out items were the special appetizer of locally-sourced Maryland oysters, the burrata salad served on Levain bread (small, but perfect for one person) and the grilled broccolini. The broccolini side dish was fantastic, and even if you don't like vegetables, it would be a hit. It wasn't a boring steam broccoli. Instead, it was topped with garlic aioli, lemon zest, breadcrumbs and a tasty Italian vinaigrette. It truly popped. Finally, my partner ordered the short ribs, which were a special on the menu. It's a fattier cut of meat, which is something he loves. We were both happy with our entrees. If you like a leaner cut of meat like me, you can't go wrong with the filet. Our server Jerome was incredibly friendly and even offered to move our table since we ordered so much food! I enjoyed our spot though right by the window, which overlooked the busy main part of Dupont Circle. We were debating on a bottle of wine, and Jerome let us taste a malbec before we committed to the entire bottle. It was perfect and paired well with our dinner. If you're looking for a romantic date-night spot, this is a wonderful choice. We went during the week and it was busy but not overwhelming. It's also one of those trendy spots where you can actually have a conversation without being drowned out by the loud music or other tables. For dessert, we wrapped it up with the chocolate fondant. Think chocolate lava cake with whipped cream on top. We also got a side of vanilla ice cream. It was the perfect size, just enough sweet to wrap up our very hefty meal. Parking was surprisingly easy/free here for a Sunday brunch period. Service was great we felt taken care of, could've been a bit quicker with drink order delivery or communication of lateness at least. I've been wanting to try out the Pembroke for some time, as it's highly rated on all review platforms. We had a reservation for brunch and were seated at a little table by the window. This spot is easy to get to, right by a metro station. The interior is modern with a diner feel. I loved the accents of pink and green mixed in with the retro diner vibes. The big glass windows out front provided great light and we loved people watching. The menu is slightly limited, and when we were there they had an issue with the gas so multiple things were off the menu. We both enjoyed our pembroke breakfast. The greens were flavored with a hint of spice. Our only complaint is that the toast was slightly burnt and very hard. Our server was quick and the mimosas were yummy. We came to The Pembroke for a cute Sunday brunch. Upon arrival our table was occupied so we had a few minutes wait. The food was okay not great and unfortunately the service wasn't stellar either. While the restaurant was beautifully decorated it was hot and the tap water served was extremely warm. On to the ordering, in our section we had two waiters, but after my latte was forgotten it was clear they weren't always communicating. We ordered the chicken and waffles and the crab cake Benedict. The chicken was fried hard and the waffle a tad dry. The initial cook of the crab cake Benedict came out cold so they remade it with everything on the side to preserve temp. I've never had a cold hollandaise that would make the crab and bread cold so it really didn't make sense to me. While the waitstaff and door staff were pleasant given the issues during our meal I don't think we will return. read more

What a beautiful restaurant. The openness and the natural light really make this place shine. It's a content creator dream place, with plenty of photo opportunities. The brunch menu had plenty of options and so young won't be disappointed. The burger was excellent and the steak was perfectly cooked. There was little wait to be seated, which was odd because I had reservations, but the manager came over and made sure we were seated after it was determined that the outside seating wasn't available as it was reserved by another party. read more

This is a really nice restaurant to grab brunch. My wife and I came here with a friend while in town for a conference and we really enjoyed our meal. The eggs, potatoes, bacon, and toast were very flavorful and cooked well and our friend really enjoyed his chicken and waffles. Service was nice as well and it was a great meal all around! read more
