Made a pit stop here for lunch after driving through the area. El Sitio is located in a small corner strip mall with only a couple other stores in the area. There's plenty of parking and an open patio with seating. Menu is pretty long and mostly focused on burritos, tacos and tortas. Service was friendly with a cashier and a cook staffed when we were there. There's an open self serve salsa bar and they will give you little takeout containers for them. Prices were a bit high vs what I had been expecting. It looked like they had recently raised prices with the menu prices taped over. However portions were generous especially on the protein and everything came with sides and chips. Shrimp Quesadilla - large portion with a side of chips. This came out extremely greasy but really tasty. Shrimp were large and plentiful. Definitely our favorite item. Chorizo burrito - filling and large burrito filled with chunks of sausage (not the ground kind). Chili verde plate - pretty spicy and a lot of pork. Unsanitary Cashier! I would highly recommend that this restaurant fire and replace their cashier. This happened tonight in between 5:30-6:00PM (11/5/2025) this evening. This person has no food safety handling experience and should be fired. This lady had on gloves as she took everyones money and then brainlessly proceeded used those same gloves to handle fresh food (she was touching the chips, the lettuce, the meats, all of it.. disgusting...). Do the gloves come out of her salary? When I called her out on it she denied it to my face, like girl, you think I'm stupid? I SAW YOU DO IT. If you are going to be working in the food industry you need to prioritize cleanliness and sanitation. Or she should stay in her lane and not touch the food if she is not educated on food safety protocols or cares enough to practice them. I highly encourage the owner to look at the cameras and look for themselves at the inadequacy of their cashier. You can easily find a better person to take food orders , it's not a hard job that requires a lot of thinking- someone with more charisma and that cares about handling food with dignity and respect for their customers. I will not be going back. Your restaurant deserves better. read more

This has been my go to place for when I crave a good burrito. They also have great tacos and tortas. I used to go to the Fairview location for years and didn't realize that there was a location closer to home! They are local and the service is great. They've updated the restaurant and looks good. I must admit that I often order takeout mostly. They aren't fancy, but I like the homey vibe as well a neighborhood feeling. The food is consistently good. This El Sitio location is near home, but I've seldom been there. Now they serve only to-go, so calling your order in is a good option - ready in ten minutes. Yesterday we had 2 burritos - Adobado and pork chile verde. Both were huge and very good, for $9.50 each. You have a choice of salsas to go with. We had the verde (fairly mind). The red sauce will make you sweat, which is what you want sometimes, with a cold beer. read more

But you need to make your mind what to get or step aside to think what you want to get. This particular El Sitio has been a favorite of mine for years and years - I would bike over from my house, before I was old enough to drive, just to order one of their amazing Tortas along with a tall glass of horchata. The staff has stayed consistent over the years, and I always know I will receive a great meal each time I come in. You can certainly tell that they put love into the dishes they serve. The decor is definitely no-frills, but it's always clean and tidy, and I love their large outdoor patio. I'm happy to see that there are now numerous locations within the tri-county area. However, this location will always hold a special place in my heart, and I will continue to patronize it as long as it's around. read more

Eric and I decided to find the best burrito in Santa Barbara and Goleta. Since El Sitio #2 was around the corner, we went there first. We got stuck and didn't branch out much after that. Well, we did go to El Sitio #1(which Junius H. reviewed quite nicely) on Fairview and determined that they wrap their burritos a bit tighter, but otherwise, this is it. He likes the pork adabado with avocado and sour cream. I like the veggie burrito, and the carne asada. I always go in there wanting to try something new, freak out, and then order a burrito again only to remember that I want to try their flautas, which they have written as a special in black marker on a paper plate affixed to the wall. And I have had an asada torta there which was yummy. Every time we take a trip back to SB, we get El Sitio. We can spend about an hour of the drive down the 101 talking about what we are going to get and when we will go there. Therefore, El Sitio has also made our relationship one of communication, shared goals, and planning. Talk about neighborhood Mexican food! I've been going to this place for years, because its so close to home and everytime I return home I CRAVE this food. Its simple homestyle Mexican food set in a residential neighborhood. This place doesn't seek out the masses of crowds aching to eat American-style burritos, no this place serves mostly tacos and tortas. Yes there are gringo style food, but go for the everything else. Their meat selection is expansive as they even have pig stomach (MMMMMM), and 5 varieties of pork. The adobado pork is tasty, moist and quite simply fantastic, and PILED high with meat with one LARGE taco for only 2.80! I can see this place being a replacement for home cooking in my predominantly Hispanic neighborhood, because its SO close to homecooked food and homecooked prices! Get over the fads of so-called 'authentic' Mexican food in Santa Barbara (with exception to Super Rica), head on out to the neighborhood eateries here or El Sitio #1 on Fairview and Hollister. I used to work for Public Health when I was in the military so I know if I will give negatives. Here we go: 1. The sneeze guard was not properly installed, their sauces and condiments(onions, and etc.) were exposed, not even a cover, a NO NO! I saw people come and go from this sauce and I can say that no matter how good the sauce is if it's dirty or contaminated, a turn-off. 2. Their soda machine,there were signs of stains where it has not been cleaned for days. Let's stop here. It makes me throw-up. Food is a OK, but I experienced better ones. Whenever I go to Costco this is where I eat. Being Mexican, I can tell you this is the most authentic, delicious place to eat. The Chile Verde burrito is my favorite. This is probably the best taco joint from SLO to Baja Mexico, I should know I at least eaten my weight in tacos. The tortillas are all fresh made along with the salsa which is amazing too. They always take care of every request I have. The will roast jalapeños on the flat top too and add them to your meal if you need an extra kick. The lengua and buché are my favorite tacos and they don't skimp on meat, but you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. We called in our order on the way to pick up a family member at the airport got it to go. We got three tacos and two tortas. All of our food was hot upon pick up fresh and very tasty they do have a salsa bar to add on additional flavors to your food. It is kind of hidden behind the 7-Eleven so make sure you look in the back to find the location. I frequent the El Sitio location at Fairview next to McDonalds and have never been disappointed. Recently I was in the area so I decided to try this location on Calle Real behind the 7/11. When I ordered I was the only person in the place. After placing my usual #4 taco order I went to get salsa and Pico De Gallo. The door to the bathroom was open and I noticed a smell similar to a gas station bathroom - nasty. Too late now - I moved to the other side of the "restaurant" and waited for my order. It took 10 - 15 minutes to get my order and when I sat down I noticed portion of meat was half what I normally received. The meat was cold as well as the two corn tortillas. The meat wasn't "Adobado" it was something else altogether. I had asked for onion and cilantro on my taco which didn't happen, but by that time I decided to eat and run. (Run far, far away and never come back!) There was nothing pleasant about this experience. read more

There are toothpicks right at the order counter for a very good reason. That being that their meat is full of fat and gristle. Not only that, a nice piece of bone was mixed in that could have cracked a tooth on some poor unsuspecting diner. Until she realized that it didn't come with cheese or choice of avo. That already adds 3.00 for sides that should be included. This makes it like an 11.00 burrito, which is plainly too much.
