Tried the cheese bread and the chicharrones. The bread was AMAZING! It was warm and crispy on the outside but airy and cheesy on the inside. Great flavor as well. The chicharron was warm but seemed to have been sitting there a while. It was not crunchy, but instead rubbery and not much flavor. The service was nice and everyone in here was Hispanic. The food is excellent. Very reminiscent of my beautiful Colombia. The service is top-notch. The staff is very courteous and attentive. Always have a smile on their face. The layout is comfortable, and while not large, it does make it cozy. Hopefully, it is not too busy like tonight, so you sit down without a wait. The decor is sharp too. Update on the breakfast, lately I have been obsessed with their breakfast. Arepa with cheese and perico eggs which is scrambled eggs with vegetables. This breakfast is very fulfilling to me and gives me a sense of having something healthier. read more

My review is biased being that I'm from Miami where they have REAL Colombian bakeries! I'll start by pointing out the only good thing I tried, The Pan De Bono was delicious! That concludes my positive experience. I don't understand what's going on with the Latin folks in Charlotte, none of them seem to know anything about Café. You CANNOT make Café con Leche out of drip coffee machine! That's basic knowledge! Every bakery in Miami has an espresso machine because they take their coffee serious! This place is NOT serious. The empanadas were terrible! Cardboard consistency and very little flavor or seasoning. I almost forgot I also had a chorizo which was decent. Overall I would not return being that authentic Latinos especially Colombians know how to make Café con Leche and these people don't have a clue. read more

This place was delicious! Very fresh and fast. We wanted to dine in, but we couldn't due to COVID. So we just ate in our car outside the restaurant. The salsa worked great with pretty much everything we ordered, one of the best salsas I've tried. My favorite thing I got was the plantains con queso. They LOAD the cheese on which made me happy. Really good, and cheap! I bought 10 empanadas (5 chicken, 5 beef) and two of their guava pastries. Total came to about $18, including a 15% tip that I gave them. We got home and it was so good, we added sour cream, but the red sauce came with it. I preferred the chicken empanadas, but my daughter liked the beef better. Service was great too! Place was really busy, but they were still super friendly. I will definitely be back. read more

I ordered "Milanesa de Pollo" and it came with Rice, beans, and fries. The portion size was great compared to other restaurants. The Chicken was nice and crispy, with great flavor. The white rice, also had some flavor unexpectedly, and was greatly pared with the beans. Fries was a nice touch to the plate.This is from what I heard a Columbian restaurant/ bakery. I had their pastries before and it is nothing to exciting, and their empanadas were greasy and bland. Their service is amazing, their breakfast options are vast. Very disappointed by restaurant food. I'm not sure if they were having a bad day, but I will not be going back for their food. I will preface this with I didn't eat the bakery bread, so I cannot comment on that. My main complaint was the freshness. The arepas that are part of the appetizers were cold, hard, and tiny. The sausage tasted okay, but was microwaved right in front of us. The empanadas were tasty, but they were also cold and you could tell they had been sitting for a long time. The only fresh things was the plantains, which were decent, and the chicharrón which had almost no meat, mostly the fat. read more

I visited El Sombreo with my family while on vacation. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Carol was such a sweetheart! The staff was very helpful, professional and made my experience at El Sombrero memorable. This small bakery has a very authentic variety of Colombian bakeries. The food was delicious. You need to try the beef and chicken empanadas, the arepas, and their breads we fantastic! You can also choose from the menu. When you walk into this shop you are greeted by the pastry displays. None of them have labels on them, but the staff was very friendly and helpful in picking what to order. The guava and cream cheese pastry is my favorite, but the Carmel Coconut cookies were also excellent. I have also had a few of the breads which were also delicious. I haven't had the food yet, but look forward to trying in the future. read more
