I stopped by this El Super today inside Woodman Van Nuys plaza to get my wife her bolillitos bread that she wanted. I found parking easily since I came before the afternoon so the plaza was not busy yet. The store is very nice and organized inside. They had a deal on the bolillitos so I got 5 of them for my wife. There also a little restaurant inside this store where you can order some aqua fresca and food too. There no self checkout station that I saw so I paid with a cashier where the line was for 15 items and less. I didn't have any issues while I was here. read more

I gave this location 3 stars. There's homeless encounters in the parking lot and they're aggressive too every time I come here and it's not often. I come here for the better deals on some produce. The employees are ok cause of the language barrier they tend to keep to themselves (I guess) they pretty much got everything here. Most of the time it's pretty neat and tighty. Love the selection of produce but they're were some things I thought were overpriced to be honest. Chinese peas for 7.99 individual pods you choose and they didn't look fresh . We come here all the time and never have any issues! For the first time today, my mom was walking in the vegetable isle and she slipped on water- she told me the lady that was mopping, was spilling water everywhere. She didn't let me know until we left and the store and we got into the car, so I called them to let them know my mom almost slipped and to please clean the water so nobody gets hurt- (my mom is an elderly women and I wouldn't want any elders to fall and hurt themselves). I called and the lady was extremely rude on the phone, she said "I'll send someone over there"- she was EXTREMELY dismissive and didn't hear anything that I said about my mom nearly slipping. As someone who has worked customer support for 15 years, they don't know how to provide proper customer service over the phone. The people taking care of the isles are letting water spill everywhere, completely half assing in every aspect. My mom is a helpless 4'11 lady- she said a worker saw her but completely looked the other way. On top of that, when my mom went to check out- she starting putting the groceries on the belt and the lady was helping someone who had a lot of groceries. The cashier lady told my mom to go to a different line after she already was putting her things on the belt to checkout, she said "go to the other line"- like huhhh??? It's 8pm? You guys aren't even closing soon! None of our visits were like this. Management needs to work on ALLLLL aspects in the store, completely lost my respect. Wow it was my first time coming to this El Super. My friend invited me here to have lunch. Which I wasn't even aware they sold food here. I was surprised with the prices the food was very affordable and tasted great. The red salsa was on point the chicken and rice too. This review is for my one and only visit here. I did not use their cake service so I cannot comment on that. Exterior: big private parking lot. Tons of shopping cart return areas through out the lot, organized parking lot. Clean. I love the cool vintage tile and logo. Please don't ever change that look. Interior: fresh, organized, well lit, well stocked, perfectly clearly labeled price signs. I love the vintage look please never change. Product: from what I saw everything was bountiful, excellent deals especially on the produce. Produce to me was outstanding, everything was properly stored and on display. Everything was so fresh. I thought everything was exceptional. There were zero flies, no fruit flies, no smells, nothing rotting, I really don't know what these negative reviews are talking about lol it couldn't have been further from the truth. Perhaps I just got lucky and went on a really good day OR perhaps there are some drama queens that really just for some reason don't like El Super. In my honest opinion, I think this is better than Vaillarta. Don't get me wrong, I love Vaillarta too but I think El Super is more authentic in the products they carry, they also have more variety and harder to find products. I choose El Super over Vaillarta. Staff: they were friendly! Each person I came in contact with was lovely, they weren't overly friendly or anything but they certainly weren't mean or stone cold as some of the negative reviews had mentioned. But also I am generally in a happy good mood and maybe they were able to sense that and reflect that positivityback to me? I'm starting to think that maybe the bad reviews are to discourage people from coming to this awesome market. My only complaint is that there aren't more El Super closer to me!!! My husband and I went to the soda station and put all soda in the bag all 27 bottles and all different bags of 1 bags of bread and 1 bags of bakery. When we went to the cashier we told the cashier guy we have 27 bottles there 7 bags . So he got it and charge us everything. When we finishing paying the security ask us everything ok and check our receipt that not very professional and we dont steal if you trust people don't accuse us we shop here alot and pay decent money here. This store constantly has spoiled, rotten fruit and vegetables. A couple times I have seen insects on the meat in the so called fresh order counter. The worst part is they hardly ever have enough register open and if you say anything some of the cashiers are just rude. When I said something to the cashier, an employee next to the cashier rudely asked me what I had said and what was the problem. I asked her why they did not have enough cashiers and no Express counter, with a horrible attitude she told me you should talk to the manager. When she called over the manager the manager was worst and could care less. Constant people reporting this to their corporate office does nothing. My grandpa and me were shopping for groceries and he picked out cilantro because some of them went bad so he grabbed the best looking one he could find upon paying the cashier started questioning him whether he grabbed it like that or not so she called her manager and the manager took the cilantro an walked away and she came back with cilantro that she swapped out an the ones she brought us had already went bad not to mention she brought them back without the bag and had no type of gloves on. It is very convenient having a super market such as El Super here in the city of Arleta, because it 's location. The only bad part is their Management, it's hideous . I recently bought a birthday cake for my two year old, the frosting's taste was very unpleasant., it tasted more like soap. I took it back & requested a refund. The manager PATRICIO, refused to return me my money at first, but after 45 minutes of him reviewing the stores cameras and the humiliation he putted me through he then decides to issue a refund.. Made the biggest mistake of my life coming here for groceries on a Sunday afternoon. There were only 5 cash registers open and all the lines extended way back to the aisles. We finally got out of there after about 45 minutes of waiting in line and no other registers were opened in that time period.
