Was in the mood for some Mexican food and decided on Tacos El Grullense based on all the great reviews and a personal recommendation. We ordered - Asada fries with cheese - Asada burrito - Cali burrito with Asada - 2 chicken and 2 Asada tacos The burritos were big and tasted great. The Asada fries was delicious and the portion is high and you're tempted to eat the whole thing. The tacos are fresh and tasty also. The fries are great, we got extra nacho cheese and carnitas instead of asada. Fills my hungry hungry bf up! I get 3 of the $2 barbacoa cheese taco extra crispy with green mild sauce. It's two corn tortillas with cheese stuffed between them then folded with juicy beef and salsa filling. Good cheap taco truck tacos without a ton of fat left on the meat. I would skip the chips and salsa as they put celery inside salsa and not much depth of flavor. Carbs Asada was 4/5 Al pastor was 3/5 so overall pretty good. Just FYI they sell water for $1 and canned soda. read more

Bombbbb taqueria style food! The burritos are huge, super flavorful and filling! Mild salsa has a yummy lime flavor, and the carne asada is tender and flavorful. And super fast too, the people that work there are really friendly, just a great experience over all. There's also tables by the truck if you want to eat there when the weather is nice! read more

Cool spot, the truck is across the street the Tackle Box. Truck is aesthetically good, and the orders are made quickly. Good service and fresh ingredients. My son ordered a chicken quesadilla he liked the flavor, but didn't have a whole lot of cheese my husband ordered a pastor super burrito and it was large and really tasty. As for me I had a regular pastor burrito and it lacked in flavor a bit, I'm just used to very flavorful pastor. read more

Born and raised in SoCal. A lot of mex food I've found up here is just bland, tasteless. But these guys are amazing - their asada tacos always fill that void. They even have al pastor - hard to find up here, even in indoor joints. Their main guy is also awesome. Crazy stuff happens on the road all the time, and he always jumps out the truck to help. During the camp fire, he handed out food to people who were camped out nearby. I cant recommend this place enough. read more

There seems to be some confusion here. There are two El Grullense trucks. Super El Grullense which is currently near Home Depot on Notre Dame and El Grullense which was sold by Xavier several years ago to new owners when Xavier moved to Texas for awhile. Xavier is the original owner of both but he is now by Home Depot. The two are somewhat similar but I prefer Xavier's food because I like his salsa better. He is also less expensive. Anyone who has been eating Xavier and Laticia's burritos for the past 30 years knows the difference! So it's quite confusing to see the name Super El Grullense with the wrong pictures and wrong address. read more

This review is for El Grullense that is located at the intersection of Martin Luther King and E. Park in the same parking lot as Creative Composition. I was very surprised at the quality of the food here. They do not skimp on the meat. The burritos are pretty balanced and a good size. My husband was full from his burrito and that is saying a lot. We ordered a burrito and five tacos with al pastor meat with everything in it and a large coke(glass bottled from Mexico that is made with cane sugar and reminds you of childhood coca colas). The cost was $13.00 total which I'm happy with considering high cost of dining in Chico. Tacos are only $1.00 each!!!!!! They give you or you can ask for jalapeños, lime and raddish. Great place to stop by when you're in a rush, trying to find healthy fast food, or just finished with your shopping. There are only two wood tables to eat. But it hasn't been a problem for us as there are hardly any people there bc their service is pretty fast and most people take to-go. Looks like a safe area as it is located in more of the business side of town near the highway and in an open parking lot in front of Skyway. Service was prompt and friendly. They had a thing today in which they were giving out free tacos as thanks to their customers. I'm still on the search for best Mexican food truck. I've tried the one by Home Depot, on 5th street, in Hamilton city, on north Esplanade...and I feel like this one is pretty good and more memorable than some restaurants. read more

I work in chico off of park avenue. There are tons of taco places for me to eat, like crazy taco, tacos tijuana, tacos cortez, gordo burrito, tacos el pinolero, but i choose to eat here. I love the food here. All of those other places are ok. Theyre all closer to me than tacos el grullense, but the extra minute of a drive to order my favorite, a supreme carne asada burrito, no beans and extra sour cream, is definitely worth it. It reminds me of my absolute favorite taco truck that parked outside of my high school in yuba city for lunch. The cleanest taco truck I've ever seen! Very prompt service and the food is great. My only complaint is their rice is very bland with almost no color or flavor. All of their food is good quality and I've been eating there for years and never had an upset stomach after (which has happened after going to other food trucks before). This place just served my wife and I 2 COLD, straight from the refrigerator to my poor taste buds stale flower tortillas filled with, you guessed it, more cold ingredients. YYYYYUK!!!
