This place is always busy but they have great deals on specify days so it makes sense. But on those days they need more people filling the produce department. I went in to shop and they had the sale items empty ... I know they are selling but they need more people replenishing... At least one more person. I have to admire the fact that they had an employee cleaning the produce area as quickly as possible. She was trying really hard to keep it clean as the customers made a mess but grabbing and dropping things and leaving it on the floor. And I did see her in other parts of the store cleaning. My daughter and I went to El Super last Wednesday to do a little shopping. (Been intending to write this since then, no time) However I've gone to this store too many times and can always find something to go home with. But I went to cash out and had a question for the cashier who told me in a very rude manner that she doesn't speak English and she can't answer my question. Yes! I was taken back because shouldn't she be able to communicate with every customer? Shame on you El Super! I was looking for a manager but didn't see one visually. I was only asking had she ever had a product that I was buying to see what her opinion was but her "No Hablo English" and bad attitude just blew me over! Her name was Jenny. I LOVE this place ... I don't speak any spanish whatsoever and got better service here than any other local market in my area. I actually went in specifically for carne asada, knowing that only Mexicans can do carne asada the way it's supposed to be done. I was expecting a little backlash considering I don't speak the language but I figured all I needed to know was "carne asada" and "gracias." As soon as I walked in I noticed that although all the signs were in Spanish, there were English subtitles underneath and they had some GREAT deals going on! I ended up buying way more than just the asada I came in for and everyone was super helpful. Especially the kid behind the meat case, he hipped me to all the meat deals and told me what days to come back and everything! I will definitely be returning when I'm in the area. Way better than any Food 4 Less or Albertsons I've been to. read more

This store's customer service is absolutely horrible. If you buy an item there make sure that the cashier gives you your receipt because if you walk away from the register and you need to return something a second later literally...even if they see youve bought it ....and they admit that you bought it ... they. Still will not return the item....with out the option of exchange....the manager literally took the refrigerated guacamole from me touched her hands all over it didn't clean her hands running her nails around the item turned it upside down down and then gave it back to me saying I had to keep it... so now not only did I have an item I didn't want but I had a germ infested item that they're forcing me to keep that they knew I bought. Their policy there is the customer is always WRONG and El Super. is always right! The CASHIERS ARE RUDE. The managers are ill equipped and have very limited problem solving skills. In short. I hardly come here because it's a bit far. But I decided to go today because they had better deals and I was in the neighborhood. I went to do my regular grocery shopping and I had WIC to get as well. I loved that it was empty at around 6 and even though there were only 3 cashiers open the lines were going pretty quickly. As a recipient of WIC I make sure I have all the correct items, separate everything by checks because I hate being that one person that holds up the line because the item was incorrect. I've gotten WIC for years now and i know what items are approved and aren't and if in doubt I grab my food list to double check before I put it in my basket. But my items never change so I know what to get. Today as I was checking out I separated all my items by checks. When the cashier Jessica was ringing me up she seems nice but possibly new. As she was ringing up my first check she declined my yogurt (Has to be low fat:plain, strawberry or vanilla). I was confused. She said the Yoplait wasn't low fat (clearly on the cap) and it didn't qualify and she didn't even bother to ring it up. She was just reading the check, she was like it doesn't qualify so go get another. I told her I always get this item have been for years and haven't had a problem. She said it's because people don't read. I said I don't think so but ok, so I had a long line behind me at this point because she didn't even bother to scan the item to see if it went through (which it would've) and out of all days I didn't take my authorized food list to prove her wrong. So I ran to get a different flavor and she decided me again to tell me that I couldn't get this brand. So I ending up grabbing something I didn't want and aren't going to eat just to please this person that thought was right. At this point I didn't care because I didn't want to hold up the line any longer. So now that I get home I check my list and guess what!!! I was right, of course I was because I've been buying the same item for years!!! I would appreciate if they trained their cashiers on their items. Can't tell me it's not approved if you don't bother to scan it. If it's not approved guess what, your register will tell you it isn't. This supermarket has great deals (one of the best, if not the best) on fruits, vegies, and meats in all of LA area. Great quality on the produce. Red meats are good also. The chicken i'd stay away from (i go to nearby halal stores for natural chickens -- check my reviews). Parking is ample. The lines can be very long on sale days (best to be there 7-9 am during sale days). Super great sales on produce wednesdays (It seems like wholesales prices to me). And Thursdays on meats. Does not have everything, but Target is almost next door for the rest. Polish your spanish, will be put to good use at this store. This market is comparable to Super King Markets, but lacking on variety on deli. No nut, rotiserie, or arabic/indian/mediterranean sections. However for the area and the distance, this is the best supermarket in town. read more

Best produce prices ever -- not the best selection, but the best prices. My dogs eat a tonnage of sweet potatoes (dried, as a treat), they are so not cheap at the dog good store but if you buy your sweet potatoes at El Super (for next to nothing) and dry them in the oven you get El Super Inexpensive treats. read more

The fours stars are for the guava puff pastry only. My mom, introduced me to these, and I'm obsessed! The sweet and tangy guava filling is so yummy along with the delicate puff pastry. Best part? Haha despite all this, it seems a little slow and not much foot traffic in here compared to the other sites. Mostly latinos and blacks shop here. My mom decided to go get some Mexican bread for my Fatman Daddy not Batman lol. Ok hes not Fat. lol Any ways, we have never been here before and decide what the heck lets give it a shot. So we did and we got 4 pieces of breads. Any ways, to make a long story super dee duper fast... There was a flipn little piece of plastic in the concha bread. It cut her gums up cuz she bit into it pretty hard. She spits it out all quick and it was literally her last bite to. This literally just happened right now, hence the opening up a Yelp account. This so needs to be heard. She is saving the plastic piece and will have hero dad go see them on his next day off. Wow, dad's bread was fine and he ate it all, but mom's, dang I feel bad for her. That was just wrong wrong wrong!!! Not trying to cause problems for the store but they totally need to know about this immediately so they can check that batch of breads. Honestly I love this supermarket! The employees are so helpful and kind! I was looking for the flour so I can make pancakes for breakfast and I asked a worker who was working the aisles and he pointed me in the right direction. As I was checking out the cashier and the baggers were very friendly and were making small talk and cheerful. I really enjoyed my trip there read more
