Came here with my brother on a random Wednesday evening last week. Our normal Mexican spot in Yerrington is El Anteno but the family who runs the restaurant I believe were on vacation and therefore were closed. We ended up ordering some tacos (chicken and steak) and a couple of Carne Asade burritos. Honestly the burrito could have used something more. It literally was tortilla and steak. The steak tacos on the other hand were amazing. We regretted not just ordering steak tacos only. The chicken tacos could also use some additional flavor but we ended up just putting some of the DELICIOUS and HOT salsa that came with the chips on the chicken tacos and that did the trick. Overall, I would absolutely come back again but go with tacos and chips/salsa only!

We were in town for a jazz band concert at the Yerington Theatre for the Arts and went to El Superior beforehand based on the reviews. After passing through the entryway where our entrance electronically cued the sound of singing birds, we took in the sights of a simulated Mexican town square complete with a flowered fountain and a hanging Christmas-themed piñata and were greeted promptly by friendly staff. Admittedly, I enjoyed the kitschy environment even more after receiving my margarita in a glass that had the restaurant's name, fountain and traditional characters hand-painted thereon. And while the salsa that arrived at our table shortly after being seated was delicious - that is where my infatuation ended. It may be unfair to compare the dishes served here with those I lived with for many years in Southern California - but I can't help it. While we enjoyed our time having dinner here last night, our meals were just ok. We had the green enchiladas and the crab burrito but they were nothing special. The best things about this place are the staff, the salsa, the price point, and the atmosphere.

Horchata alert! Yes, you can get your horchata fix here. Anything in the horchata family is wonderful, in my book, so I thought that was fantastic. The guacamole was okay. The shrimp cocktail was very good. The restaurant was pretty darn big...tons of seating. I love the fountain in the middle of the place. Fun décor. There's a separate bar area in the back with a tv, so you can catch up on soccer matches. Prices were reasonable. Lots of parking available in the lot. The server was very nice and competent.

MI casa!!! I wish!! Lovely water fountain in the dining room area.

Great food and great service. We get very disappointed every time they close for a length of time.

This is definitely in the category of a hidden gem!…read more YTA (Yerington Theater for the Arts) manages this amazing old building that serves as the cultural center for the small farming community of Yerington. Inside this refurbished old grammar school is an amazing little cafe operated by YTA. I used to come to the cafe when I lived in Yerington and it was under different management. I am so happy to see that the Cafe has been revived under the capable management of Roy Enochson, the Executive Director of YTA. A friend and I decided to have lunch here recently. The Cafe is in the lobby area of the Theater and serves as a place to eat, an art gallery and a boutique for all sorts of arts and crafts most of which are locally made. The space is a bit like being in a favorite Auntie's parlor with little tables, comfy chairs and a visual cornucopia of treasures. My friend ordered the lunch special - butternut squash ravioli with a side salad. I ordered the Cafe Signature Salad - a lovely fresh blend of baby greens, apples, cheese, cranberries, candied walnuts all lightly dressed with a white balsamic vinaigrette. I also had a blood orange Italian Soda. The food was all tasty and fresh. Service was vey friendly, but the food was slow coming out. It was worth the wait. Our total bill for the two of us was under $20. While the portions were not huge, the meal was satisfying and the quality was excellent. This is a definite place to stop if you are in the area. It is a fabulous alternative to the fast food and casino coffee shops that are in the area.

Nice, laid back environment with a small, but effective menu. You can sit down in the cozy dining…read morearea or you can sit outside at the front of the building to enjoy your meal. The have freshly prepared paninis, smoothies, salads, and an assortment of sandwiches. I believe they also do daily specials of dishes that are not typically on the menu. Not many know this place has a Cafe inside, so you'll typically, especially during lunch, be able to sit and eat in relative peace. Which is a nice change of pace from other, full-fledge restaurants.
