Stopped in here after a long day of wrestling at the Yerington high school. There was a nice All day clinic for wrestlers at the high school. So I asked the coach what would be a good place to go eat with sit down. He said the café inside this casino was pretty decent. So we headed over to see what they had. It's kind of a small café, and along with the regular café menu they have a buffet. Tonight it was a seafood buffet for about 16 or $17. We just wanted a burger or something light so we opted for the menu. I can tell you after looking at the pounds of crab legs, that the next time I come back we will try the seafood buffet as there was a lot of crab. I opted for the double cheeseburger and I am happy to say it was quite good,. It was charbroiled and had a decent set up of lettuce tomato onions and mayonnaise on it. I decided to have a garden salad instead of fries. The waitress was nice enough to put extra tomatoes when I requested. Two of my kids were cutting weight for next weeks regional tournament and they had a grilled chicken with fruit and cottage cheese dinner. One of the kids not cutting weight had the bacon cheeseburger. And finally one of the kids had a mushroom burger. All of the food was good and a inexpensive. The waitress was quite nice and immediately knew we were out of town. She asked was where we were from and how we liked the town. We will definitely come back again and try the seafood buffet as there were some really large crab legs. I recommend anyone who likes a nice charbroiled burger to try this place.

Working out of town. I can only review the restaurant and the bar. I don't gamble. At all. The bar is small and has TV's and has a pretty good line up of the essential alcohols. They even have some higher level Scotch Whiskys. Pricing is right on point for rural Nevada. But the star of this business is the diner/restaurant. Over the last few months I have been working in Yerington, I have eaten here at least every other night. Soup. Soup. Soup. Soup. Almost always it's a different soup. Cauliflower. Portuguese. Clam Chowder. etc. They have a new one each night, decided by the morning staff you get a surprise each time you walk in. The staff are always busy and always friendly and always making sure the guests are taken care of. I enjoy sitting at the counter because if I like, I can be in and out in less than 45 minutes. Especially on Buffet nights, where they have a nice American food layout. Chicken, Ribs, canned veggies, simple salad bar choices. The walk through the casino can be a bit smokey, but once you get inside the restaurant the air seems to be well filtered. A few notes.. When they do a special on the board try it. I've done it many times and every time it's been great. The Strawberry Blush Vinaigrette was a refreshing change. But get in early for the specials because they usually don't last very long.

In downtown Yerington, we stoped at the diner. The service was nice and they served generous portions. The fries were hot.

With ample parking in a compacted gravel lot, it's located off the south bound side of Hwy 95. The sign at the roadside says "4.9 Star Restaurant" then "Bighorn Crossing" on the next line. The building is clearly marked, and the speed limit on this stretch is 35mph, so it's easily located. The entire place is clean, tidy, and exactly what you want for a food stop in a "frontier" county (ask Tony). "Yelpers" have never steered me wrong, and this gem overlooking the Walker Lake lives up to the hype! The food is top notch - fresh, flavorful and better than anything else offered between Reno and Vegas. Seriously. Korean style bowls and American burgers fill the menu, with some excellent beverage options, and optional "spiking," for those not driving. Bonus is the conversation with Tony: owner, professional chef, county commissioner and conservationist. He's happy to explain the challenges facing the area, especially pertaining to abused water supply from the corporate farms upriver, if you ask. Please inquire! Thanks Tony and Matthew, for an amazing meal, comfortable atmosphere and stimulating conversation. See you on the next trip!

There's easy parking out front, both indoor and outdoor seating, and a modern, clean interior with a great EDM soundtrack playing in the background. The service was very attentive. I tried the Korean BBQ tacos, which were flavorful and satisfying. My only criticism is that I would have preferred to be served on an actual plate rather than in a to-go box while dining in. If you're passing through the area, this place is worth seeking out for a good meal.

The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and it's the kind of local place you hope to find when you're traveling. If you're visiting South Lake Tahoe, do yourself a favor and have breakfast or lunch at The Getaway Cafe. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Tahoe!

The servings are large but we ate nearly everything, and needless to say we were stuffed! I absolutely loved the chorizo--might be my favorite from a restaurant. The French toast was nearly perfect too, as it was thick and soft / moist but not soggy. I loved the coconut but feel the normal French toast would've been great too. Everything tasted fresh and house-made, as they say it is. The staff was incredibly nice and I believe the owner was at the front hosting people, which goes to show the service, thought and effort that goes into this place! Will definitely come back when in the area again.

They told us not to order over the phone, only online. OK, fine, but it seems like you shouldn't turn away business just because we used a phone. We got our order placed online instead. My wife received a confirmation email and then an email saying our order was ready for pickup. She arrived at the restaurant, and the lady working said she had never gotten an order and hadn't started on it. So my wife waited for the food to be prepared and finally got it home. The food was good. The mac and cheese potato is really good. The mac and cheese was a star. The shepherd's pie was ok, but a little shy on the meat and needed some more seasoning. At least the portions are large, and you'll likely be able to split an order into two meals unless you're super hungry. The inside of this place is small and located inside the bowling alley building. Nothing special about the ambiance. Takeout is probably the way to go. This place should be 3 stars. However, I am going to cut a little slack and assume it was a one-off experience. So for this review, I am sticking with 4 stars. When I return, I hope the food is up to par, and the service improves. I would love to write a 5-star review for this small local business.

A roadside burger, fresh and hot fries, and a rich creamy milkshake are a necessary part of every trip through the area, and whenever we're between here and Mammoth, Walker Burger is THE STOP. For starters, the vibes are just perfect. The wait in line is where it starts, as the sun is typically beating down as you wait to order in the dirt parking lot, making the shade from the narrow porch and the friendly hello from the order taker your first reward for being here. Usually I'm hungry from a busy morning of breaking down camp, and a 1/4lb Walker Burger with American cheese, fresh veggies and secret sauce on a fluffy fresh seeded soft bun always hits. Summer time usually has me ordering a fresh seasonal fruit shake (peach) but honestly every shake is fantastic and I also LOVE the coffee shakes, which are made with real coffee and coffee beans for extra punch. Fries are always hot and fresh, and best of all they come out crispy without asking for it! Service is always friendly and fun too. What makes this spot special is the garden dining. Picnic tables are scattered throughout a well shaded area offering travelers a cool and relaxing area to enjoy their food. We've definitely done this a few times, but typically take it to go and enjoy it (and the glorious mess) on the way home. Walker Burger is a MUST! Have you been?
