I can say I've had more Mexican food than most. Growing up in California and living in San Francisco, and Los Angeles, I've had my fair share of tacos, enchiladas, tamales, huaraches, taquitos, fajitas, and for sure, burritos. This place makes amazing guacamole, and excellent fajitas. The staff is friendly and the owners are nice. I highly recommend El Sereno. They never disappoint. read more

This is my second time here it's convenient very clean and the staff is amazingly kind and sweet and I love to give people like that my business. The food also is very good today I'm having pollo a la parilla, very tasty and well prepared and definitely better than normal run-of-the-mill Mexican. Some other reviewer's mentioned the staff were busy on their cell phones and one reviewer mentioned the seat under the TV which so funny I sat there tonight ha ha I liked it because soccer was on so I got to watch it a little bit but nobody hovered around my table and I had interactions with three of the staff and they were all super sweet and accommodating and my order was just as I had asked. I'm sure everybody has off days but the two times I went there they were right on and busy:-) read more

Don't bother . Stopped in after the lunch rush , waitress motioned rudely for us to sit down . We took a booth . Restaurant was not clean , food , paper etc on floor . Sat there while she cleaned off a table loading dirty dishes on a cart. When she pulled the cart passed us she rammed it into the wall adjacent to our booth . Accidents happen but come on , no excuse me , sorry or better yet at least take our drink order ! While she stayed in the back we walked out and went to Mr Juan's . First, you are received the same way you would, if you went to a friend's house demanding food at 3:00 a.m. MENÚ: offers all the generic fare ALL other "Mexican" eateries do. FOOD: Once it's brought to your table, you quickly realize it's not what you ordered. Not one person, not two people, but your entire party will get something wrong, or missing. DRINKS: Overpriced. When it comes to non-alcoholic drinks, you'll be lucky to be offered a refill. SERVICE: Our waiter was as thick as a tractor tire. He couldn't take the orders correctly, He couldn't explain items some of us weren't familiar with, he lacked the ability to manage errors made at the kitchen. PRICE: Take a photo of the prices listed. Then compare them to what they will attempt to charge you when you leave. You'll find they accidentally overcharge at lest $10 dollars every time. Especially if you're with a large group. Avoid this place, unless you cannot drive further to a proper restaurant. They have potential given the great location. I know everyone has a bad day sometimes, but don't add a bad attitude. read more

There are no amazing Mexican restaurants around here, but this is probably the better restaurant. Most of them cook really heavy and very little to no text Mex. Healthy and fresh is important to me. Their fajitas are pretty amazing.! Service is very good. The ratings on yelp aren't very useful because the Mexican restaurant down the street has higher ratings but I don't agree. I from the West Coast and Mexican food is much fresher and more authentic. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and you can ask for things to be changed if you need it. It's definitely a 4 to 3 out of five for me. The the restaurant just down the street is probably a 2/5. read more

Stopped here on our way out of town. It was recommended to us as the "best Mexican in town". If that's the case I need to open a Mexican restaurant there. The parking lot was empty at 7PM on a Saturday. Then went inside and saw the staff sitting down in the main dining room watching TV. We were told to seat ourselves. We sat at the first booth in the main dining room. The TV was right above us. This caused the staff to stand next to our table and watch the TV. Really awkward. The food came out fast. The portion size was half that of any Mexican restaurant I've been to in the past. The food was really bland. I was really disappointed in this place on many levels. Just because you're one of the only places to eat in town doesn't mean you can put out subpar meals. I hope that this review helps this restaurant get better. How can you mess up an entree? One sure way is to add too much salt to the food, and this is what I found at El Sureno. Too much salt in their soups and beef taco ( even though I ordered chicken tacos to go). So add order accuracy to my experience as well. Restaurant cleanliness couldn't be measured but the entire place could use a thorough spring, summer, winter and fall cleaning. read more

This is honestly one of my favorite Mexican restaurants, I live an hour away and I don't mind the drive to eat their food. It has always been great, never too busy, and usually very quick until yesterday... After making the hour trek up to tryon craving delicious Mexican food, we arrived. As usual there were only a few cars in the parking lot being. Sunday I was not suprised. We went in and were greeted as usual, and sat in a booth. Being 1 of only 3 tables we ordered drinks and enjoyed the chips and bean dip. The waiter came over to take our order, I ordered the Texas Nachos which I was craving, the waiter then asked "would you like vegetables?" I replied no thank you and our order was off to the kitchen. A few minutes later he delivers our food to the table only to have a pound of lettuce covering the entire top of the nachos, not a huge deal.. So I ask for a plate to simply remove the lettuce to the side and enjoy my dish. After 10 minutes of waiting while the waiters bussed 2 other tables and played on their cellphones, I became a little irritated. Finally calling one of the waiters to the table to explain to him why I was irritated he looked at me like it was normal practice and never once apologized or tried to make things right. Another waiter came over to refill my water with room temperature water and then went right back to his cellphone... This was the first time I have left this restaurant unsatisfied to say the least.. read more

Had a late lunch here and food was quite good. I had the mushroom quesadilla and son had veggie salad with beans. Both good. Looks a little run down inside but food was tasty, served promptly, well priced, and had a salsa bar. I'd bring the family or mate but not a date to this place. Casual but not romantic. We've eaten here twice and both times it was very good! Both experiences were after a long day of working and so the giant steins of Dos XX beer went down well. We've had the fajitas, and more recently the fajita burrito and the camarones Acapulco. Excellente!! Nothing fancy, but good Americanized Mexican food. read more

Good food... They have a sauce bar and allow you to mix your sauce to your own liking. Mild, hot or death is imminent.

Just average food and service.... and that's being generous...been here 30 times (or more) over the years and maybe one out of 10 times it is really good. It's just convenient and my kids love the cheese dip. read more
