My husband and I had El Loco Taco cater our wedding on Saturday. They agreed upon serving enough food for 140 people with a taco bar along with rice and beans. They were to be at the wedding around 4:30-5:00. The ceremony was over and we were waiting on food to arrive. They were late to the reception and showed up around 5:30. Our guests helped them bring in food because they were trying to hurry it along, so we could all eat. We were told everything would be there, yet there was not rice and beans and there was not enough queso for all of my guests. We were charged for everything and it was missing some big portions of the meal. I shouldn't have to double check everything on our wedding day. They should have had the courtesy to check their food before bringing it to us or at least make us aware of their mistake. I called once I realized things were missing and I was told they weren't sure what happened. I was also hung up on. I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone if they need a catering option. VERY disappointing and unprofessional. read more

Don and I thoroughly enjoyed lunch here. He had the wet burrito and a side of pico de gallo and I had enchiladas verde. Instead of the usual salsa they brought out a tasty warm bean dip with their own corn chips. Don enjoyed his meal so much he had to meet and congratulate the cook, something he never does. read more

Fantastic authentic Mexican style tacos (real corn doubled tortillas from Chicago, cilantro and onion). Salsas acceptable as were the chips. The Lengua (tongue) was some of the best and most flavorful I have ever tasted. Being a traditional authentic Taqueria fan, this place passed my test for great prices, authentic flavorful food, especially considering it is not close to a large city. Not great for ambience, it isn't a ChiChi's with Margaritas, it is plain, simple and delicious. read more

It's almost a crime how easy this place is too miss considering how amazing the food is here. I only been here twice and tried a variety of their tacos including the chicken, steak and even the tounge and I have too say, this is probably not only the best tacos I ever had but also the best Mexican food I ever had. So go to Michigan and find this place, even if you might not know you've actually crossed state lines when Yelp told you to find it (we didn't). I had two steak tacos and a ham n cheese quesadilla. It was simple and perfect. The corn tortillas were moist and delicious. The tacos had plenty of cilantro and onion. The 4 1/2 star rating stunned us. This place is filthy. If the parts customers see are this poorly kept, I can't imagine the state of the kitchen. We entered & saw the photo board above the register & ordered. We were told it would take 25 min for 4 items. Locals may know their goofy system - either sit at a table or order at the register for take out only. The waitress/cashier was not helpful or welcoming and when we sat at a table after ordering, we were told our order was placed as take out & couldn't be changed (yet it wasn't even started). We ate out of takeout boxes - fine but wasteful. I ordered #5 sopes (pictured with 2). I only got one & was told they "don't know why the photo shows 2." (Which is fine because the carne was 80% grizzle.) The fajita photo & description says it comes with shrimp -- it didn't ($12). Eater beware: this place has a ton of work to do to earn 4 or 5 stars! read more

After reading reviews for this restaurant, my husband and I decided to try it. We were traveling in the area from Kentucky. In the window there is a sign stating "Authentic Mexican Food". My husband ordered chicken and beef fajitas and I ordered a breaded steak Torta. I did not ask the waitress what a Torta was--just knew I loved Mexican food, so I took my chances. My husband's food arrived and then my Torta arrived. My oh my, was it good!!! It was large enough for two meals, half would have been sufficient. My husband said his fajitas were excellent--I tasted his and I totally agreed!!!! The restaurant's interior doesn't look that great, but don't let looks deceive you!! The cook actually does all the grilling there in the eating area. One thing we noticed while eating was that initially we were the only non-Mexicans eating there--a good sign that the food is authentic! Eventually some other non-Mexicans came in to eat before we left. I also want to add that the prices were very reasonable!! I highly recommend this little restaurant! read more

Driving through town and was pleasantly surprised to find such an authentic Mexican food place. To me, if your rice and beans are not authentic, the rest of your menu is highly suspect. Glad to say they were very good--we even ordered extra sides of both. My kids were raving about the food! The meals were served HOT and quick. Service was attentive and engaging. We ordered tamales, tacos de buche, lungua, and asada. All were delicious! If we are ever back in this area we will be back. read more

I'm not used to writing reviews but after the last experience at this restaurant I felt compelled to make an exception. I traveled 45 minutes to this location on a Sunday morning with excitement and high expectations. After ordering my tacos looking at the meat I was immediately disgusted and surprised. The meat was "black", as dark as when a piece of meat is charred, except this one wasn't, it was actually dark from being old. It was absolutely disgusting! The second taco I tried had pieces of meat of disgusting texture, suitable only for animal feed. Maybe I went on a bad day, but whatever the case I won't come back. There's no reason for serving food of poor quality. I'm willing to pay whatever is a fair price, but don't sacrifice quality for cost. read more
