Two words: fire flames. I had the marlin tacon (basically a burrito but they cut it in half and grill the open sides so it gets a little crisp to it) and it was absolutely gas, no notes. It was $135 pesos I believe and you can get cheaper food in the area, but not this good. It was absolutely to die for and was so filling. They also give you some veggies in like a mayo-based sauce and some salsas as a complement. The people working don't speak much English, not that they have to, just a heads up. There aren't many tables inside but they're good with takeaway. Note that I tried to go a couple days ago and they had closed about 30 mins before their posted hours. Def worth checking out while in PVR, this was amazing food and unlike other dishes I've had before. The smokiness of the marlin was unreal.

No words can describe the flavors. Hands down, my new fav spot. It's a little hike up to the end of the Malecon from the Romantic Zone, but well worth it. Tiny, maybe 8 tables, always busy. 6 items on the menu. Tasty flavored waters. Just go. There's a second location right across the from the airport.

They have a seafood menu here. No tacos. Serve your protein in burritos. We ordered the shrimp (camaron) and it was fire. Great place for a Mexican seafood meal

    Spicy pickles, great accompaniment!

This spot is fantastic! It's a smaller venue, look for the cute blue shop, indoor seating only although it is right next to the beach. The menu is very limited, but that's what makes it fresh and delicious! Prices are low and portions are large, they also serve complimentary spicy pickles, and a type of cucumber mini salad (kind of tastes like a potato salad mix) they also have house made hot sauces from mild to hot! We had the marlin and shrimp one, and split it, it was juicy, flavorful and so satisfying. No rice or bean fillers, and the flour tortilla was also griddled on the flat top, so good! The servers were really kind and helpful, they don't serve beer but are totally fine with you bringing in one to enjoy with lunch, they have an oxxo right across the street! Definitely unique and a lot of history behind the venue, check it out, you won't regret it! We'll be back!

Great Puerto Vallarta spot for lunch. Always packed, and with good reason, a "tacon" is oversized taco/ burrito combo made with choices of shrimp, octopus, smoked crab, or meats. We went with the smoked crab, and it was out of this world - one (about $7) is enough for 2!. An absolute must! Sort of sketchy part of town, take an Uber!

I've tried Marlin and mixed seafood burritos at many other places, and still think it is not only best here but also best value for the price. It's not the cheapest place you can buy a burrito - but the portions and quality of food here are well worth (what is not really) a slightly higher price. They no longer carry my favorite water but the cucumber, lemon, and mint turned out to be a second best combination to replace it. Cash only. They will even accept USD - which I almost chose to pay with based on the posted exchange rate but ended up just paying MXN.

Clean establishment and courteous service, we came in thinking it was a seafood restaurant with a variety of options, well it is not. We were hungry so we still gave them a try. They sell Burritas like Burritos but folded like a square with fish, octopus, imitation crab or shrimp. It's the fish or shrimp sautéed with onion, tomato and shredded lettuce wrapped in a flour tortilla. Big size portion and the give you a small veggie/fruit salad mixed with a mayo like dressing. The Marlin (tuna like fish) burrita was very salty but the shrimp one was pretty good. I don't think I will be back but, if you like your seafood in a burrito style wrap then you should try this out.

There are places that simply serve food--and then there are places that become part of your story…read more Pepe's Tacos is exactly that for me. Having come here since I was 10 years old, this iconic taquería isn't just a local favorite--it's a timeless institution that continues to define what truly exceptional tacos should be. Since 1987, Pepe's has built a reputation that extends far beyond Puerto Vallarta, and one visit is all it takes to understand why. The star of the show--their legendary tacos al pastor--is nothing short of extraordinary. The pork is expertly marinated and cooked to perfection, resulting in meat that is incredibly juicy, tender, and bursting with deep, savory flavor. Each slice is carved with precision and layered onto warm tortillas, creating a perfect foundation for what comes next. What truly elevates these tacos is the balance of toppings. The sweetness of the pineapple and the sharpness of the fresh onions cut through the richness of the meat beautifully, enhancing every bite with contrast and complexity. It's a masterclass in simplicity done right--every ingredient playing its role to perfection. Beyond the food, the experience itself is just as memorable. The service is impressively fast and efficient, especially considering how popular this spot is, and there's an undeniable energy in the air that makes it feel alive at all hours. It's the kind of place you can count on for a late-night bite, where the atmosphere is casual, vibrant, and always welcoming. Pepe's Tacos isn't about reinvention or trend--it's about consistency, tradition, and delivering excellence time and time again. Decades later, it still holds its place as one of the best taco spots in Puerto Vallarta, and for good reason. Some things never change--and when they're this good, they absolutely shouldn't.

Out front, the trompo spins over charcoal fire, hand turned, on display to the street. The man at the blade is a performer, part craftsman, part showman. He hones his knife between razor thin shavings of al pastor, then in a reflexive flourish nips the pineapple crowning the meat, sending a sliver flying only to catch it with a tortilla. It is theater, but it is also instinct. Inside, the crowd looks like the United Nations. A tour group from India next to a Dutch family with half a dozen kids in tow, the Canadians eye the Americans with deserved suspicion, and a few locals whose plates are piled high while tourists settle for modest portions. It is the natural order of things, and nobody complains. The charcoal scent in the meat makes clear this is al pastor's intended preparation. I have never had the pleasure of eating from a coal fired trompo before, and it is instantly apparent that this is the way it was meant to be. Someday, somehow, I will rig one of these up, because I need this in my life. Pepe's is not just a taco shop. It is a master class in tradition, theater, and flavor, with a dining room that feels like the world gathered around one spit.

It's thicker, more cheesy than what I've ever had before and very delicious. The ribeye had so much fat that we had to pick through it just to eat it. The al pastor was very average - I've had much better at plenty of other taco spots. The biggest disappointment was the chorizo. It wasn't traditional chorizo at all; it looked and tasted more like chopped-up hot dogs. We barely touched it because it wasn't what we ordered expecting, and it just wasn't good. The presentation also wasn't appealing. The meat was simply piled on top of two tortillas, making everything messy and difficult to eat. They were also pretty stingy with the grilled jalapeños. The salsas didn't do the food any favors either. None of them really stood out, and the green guacamole salsa actually tasted like it had gone bad, so we stopped eating it. Service was attentive, but almost too attentive. Staff kept coming by every few minutes to ask if we were finished or if we needed anything. While I appreciate good service, it made us feel like we were being rushed through our meal instead of being able to enjoy it at our own pace. Overall, I don't understand the high ratings based on our experience. With so many amazing taco spots in Puerto Vallarta, this one didn't come close to meeting the hype. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back.

Chips and three salsas come gratis. The pineapple habanero was a little hot for my tastebuds, but it had good flavor. The chipotle salsa was appropriately smoky and might've been my favorite. The green was more mild and fresh and also very good. I ordered three tacos: grilled shrimp, grilled fish, and the hibiscus flower and panela cheese. The waitress let me try a piece of the cheese before ordering since I'd never had panela before which I appreciated. That taco was probably my least favorite of the three- texture, not taste, but I like to try new things, so I'm glad I got it.
