Tacos Revolución was around the corner from my hotel, so I popped in for my last dinner in town. Outdoor seating was filled, but I had a table by the door which ended up being perfect because it essentially gave me a first row seat to a street performer playing classic rock tunes on guitar outside and then later a 3 piece band playing more traditional music across the street. Chips and three salsas come gratis. The pineapple habanero was a little hot for my tastebuds, but it had good flavor. The chipotle salsa was appropriately smoky and might've been my favorite. The green was more mild and fresh and also very good. I ordered three tacos: grilled shrimp, grilled fish, and the hibiscus flower and panela cheese. The waitress let me try a piece of the cheese before ordering since I'd never had panela before which I appreciated. That taco was probably my least favorite of the three- texture, not taste, but I like to try new things, so I'm glad I got it. There was a toppings bar for taco add-ons: limes, cucumbers, cabbage, onions, and cilantro. Nice to be able to customize. Very reasonable cost, good flavor, good service, good atmosphere. read more

First place we ate dinner in Puerto Vallarta and everything was fine. First off important to note it's cash (pesos) only which was slightly annoying. Had to walk for a while to find a working ATM. Started with the guacamole which was good (although we'd had way better in the afternoon from a little cafe near our hotel). Three salsas came with the chips and were ok. The yellow pineapple one sneaks up on you and is very spicy. Ordered two tacos. Wasn't really wowed. Margarita ok. They have outdoor seating, so it's fun to people watch. This is the best taco place we've been to in Puerto Vallarta so far. Not only is the cooking refined, the dishes are highly unique. The Taco Revolución is a quesadilla style taco with cheese and various sauces inside. I highly recommend this option. The food also came more quickly than it has at other restaurants. In the heart of Zona Romantica, this place typically has a line but it's worth the wait! Inside and outside seating - both with great character. The food is excellent! My GF wanted to try this place because of the vegan /vegetarian options. The service was not that good . They took their time helping us and there was literally no one inside when we arrived. My GF ordered the Taco Revolution veggie and the Baja Veggie. I have to say that the Taco Revolution veggie was Packed with Flavor! So that was a plus. But overall .. just didnt hit that hard for me. The place is mid sized with indoor and out door seating and is fairly modern. We chose to sit outside for the natural breeze because it was so damn hot! But, tbh.. I dont think I will ever return to this place. As I was ready to pay, (being this place is Cash only) I noticed that I was over charged for our food. The guy who rang us up was not the same person who took our order and he was trying to do math in his head. I told him just use the calculator and he said. I know how much everything is !! Like WTF?? I did not want to be a dic*he*d so I just looked at him with the death stare and said okay. He literally charged me twice the amount of my order. This is the reason for the 2 star review. Comically bad tacos that could only be enjoyed by a foreigner who has never eaten a taco before in their life. Quality: 2 Value: 2 Service: 3 Ambience: 3 This place has good reviews (why? from who?) so we tried it. It was the worst meal we ate in Mexico. The fried fish and fried shrimp were 90% soggy breading, and badly overcooked. The tortillas weren't good. The al pastor was dry and overcooked. They somehow screwed up even the guacamole? Everything was unsalted - even the tortilla chips were totally unsalted! They also didn't bring us salt and limes. The pineapple habanero salsa could have been interesting but that was also just mid. The prices were not great, either. Go down the street to either Bahia 103 or to Joe Jack's for real food! read more

A local gem, Tacos Revolucion is one of the few restaurants in the area where you can get a meal still for under $10 USD. With their tacos priced so affordable, generally under $1.50 USD, you can really get a wide range to sample. I loved their Al Pastor and their Fish tacos, flavorful little bites of taco heaven. Evening walk, PV ... the line is insane at the "other" competing establishment. Where does one end up? Yup! Revolucion. The vibe is low key, the TV is old, the music boring yet the tacos are good! Came here for dinner since pancho's takos had a long line. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, we decided to dine outside that night. The ambiance was good, open air dining always has a charm to it. We ordered two non-alcoholic drinks, the pepino limon, it was super refreshing to have on a hot day. Got a meat stew and some tacos as well. The condiments for the tacos are self serve from a little condiment cart that they have on the side. The food was alright, the stew was slightly better than the tacos. The tacos were okay, they're definitely not the best tacos you can get in the area, and weren't too outstanding. The service was okay, our servers took our order in a decent amount of time. However toward the end when we tried to get the bill, it was a bit difficult, we had to try to get their attention several times because they were just standing around talking instead of paying attention to the dining areas. Had it been busy I would understand trying to flag my server down several times for the bill, but it wasn't busy, it was just negligence. I probably would not return here again. The food was just okay and service was subpar. Next time if Pancho's Takos has a long line, I would probably opt for Don Chava Taqueria Cantina down the street instead. read more

One of our favorite places to go for tacos whenever in Puerto Vallarta. Good price and very good tacos.

We stopped by during lunch time and the door to the restaurant was open, but there was no staff inside. We waited for a few minutes and the staff came back. They seemed annoyed to see customers for some reason (1 star off). No one smiled. We sat down and ordered couple pork tacos (al pastor, adobo, and pork rinds) and the taco revolution (fried cheese, beef, pork, chorizo, basically all the meats you can think of in one taco). The pork tacos did not have much flavor (1 star off). The taco revolution was probably the most unhealthy thing you can have, but it was good; I like anything with fried cheese. FYI They only have flour tortillas for their tacos. In terms of drinks, the strawberry mezcal was nice on a hot day. The cucumber horchata was like a watered down mojito and the horchata was missing cinnamon spice (1 star off). My favorite items? The free chips and salsa. They give you three very different salsas and they were all delicious. The pineapple one is extremely spicy, but I still liked it. I had more fun filling up on their chips and salsa than the rest of the meal, which was unfortunate. read more

There are a lot of great taco places all over Zona and Centro so there is stiff competition. I had heard good things about this place so I was excited to try it. The tacos were good but I know of other places I think are better. To me it is all about the flavors and seasonings and this one just missed the mark slightly. We came here twice in one day. For lunch, we got the volcanoes which is very new to us as we have never tried it. It is very cheesy and flavorful. It is good topped with cucumbers. I've walked by this place hundreds of times and never thought much of it other than it seemed touristy. I recently discovered they had some vegetarian taco options so we gave it a try. I ordered vegetarian options others order all sorts of tacos. The consensus was it was average and they leave toppings out in the open along the sidewalk for you to top yourself which didn't seem all that sanitary and yes I realize I'm in Mexico so before I get slapped back it just seems like they could do that in the kitchen for the prices they charge and it's a sit down restaurant not a taco truck.
