Fantastic Mexican restaurant on Main Street. Owners were really friendly and accommodating. One patron complained of the heat and requested his bill be rushed. Sheesh!! It's much cooler inside than outside, this left my friend and I wondering what was wrong with him! As prior comments mentioned about the decor, it's wonderful and feels like a classic Mexican restaurant. Despite the Mexican Hamburger no longer being on the menu (see photos for update) the cool (wife) offered to make me one. I turned it down and was happy I did. Instead I opted for the chicken burrito, it wasn't your classic burrito and tasted great! If you are looking for a family friendly Mexican resultant with great food, look no further! read more

Well we have eaten here before and today we were waiting for a table by the restrooms. I was just looking around and noticed the workers dishing chips into the bowls with their bare hands. I know it's just chips but this is a major food violation. She did it time after time and didn't use at least a bowl. If they are doing this out in the open...what's happening back in the kitchen? Put a glove on or use a scoop....heck even a chip bowl something besides your dirty bare hands. read more

We are very fortunate to live in a part of the world where good Mexican food is easy to find. Coming back home to Sheridan, we were pleasantly surprised to find that my hometown finally has good Mexican food!! I had a combo plate featuring a beef taco, a beef enchilada & a chile relleno (my personal favorite ). Everything was served hot and quite tasty! My husband had skirt steak served with rice, beans & flour tortillas. We both ate everything on our plates! The service was exceptional, friendly and personable. Service was good. My wife had a very good quesadilla. I tried the Carnitas Jalisco. Very different and good green sauce on the carnitas. Very flavorful with just a hint of spice. I'm mad. I got this and it's literally supposed to be a chicken chimichanga and it's a tiny layer of chicken and the rest of it is literally just the tortilla. It's like a full inch of tortilla and a tiny tiny layer of chicken. I opened it thinking they'd at least stuff it with chicken for the price but it's not crispy, totally wet, hardly any chicken. Really upset about it. I just paid for a tortilla and sauce pretty much. The flavor is good though but I'm super disappointed. Will not be going back. I liked the waitress, she was awesome. But I feel like I just threw $20 away. I don't even think this was fried because it's so soggy. Really sorry to leave this review, I tried to like it but it's just too disappointing read more

Went here with my wife today. No lunch menu so had to order main course. Ordered the 3 burrito plate, 13.99. I chose beef. When the plate came it was 3 small ground beef burritos with sauce over them.no beans, no rice. This would probably be about a 6.99 plate elsewhere. We used to go there a lot. I would get a margarita on the rocks but I don't like a whole bunch of ice. So I asked him a couple different times when I was there there for less ice. One day he came and sat down and said he has a question for me and said... If you order a drink with less ice and you're getting double what you would normally get, should I charge you double for your drink? I told him to do whatever he felt he needed to do and haven't gone back since. Also, if there is one person, two people, three or four people you get one basket of chips and salsa. Overpriced and unimpressive. Order was made incorrectly and the taste was not authentic at all. Frozen tamales. For four people the bill was over $120. A nice steakhouse costs about that much. Any additional chips and salsa is charged to the customer and chip basket is half full at best when brought out. On a scale of Mexican places this ranks just above Taco Bell in authenticity and flavor. Anyone that finds this place to taste authentic has never had real Mexican food. The carne asada in my burrito was gray in color and 90 percent of the burrito was bell peppers and onions of which I requested not to have. read more

This was one of the best meals we have eaten on our two week long cross country trip and the best Mexican, probably ever. We are from San Diego and have had the luxury of access to some amazing Mexican food but this one matched if not beat our all our eating experience in California. We were on our way from Cody (see my review, where we had a disappointing meal) to Sturgis, and I was desperate for a decent meal with some strong ethnic flavors. And yelp and Trip Advisor proved helpful. We all had combination plates of stuff we liked. Between the three of us, we had beef tacos, beef and cheese enchiladas, beef tamale, beef burrito, chili rellano and rice. And every dish was incredibly delicious. My husband said that this was the best tamale he had ever tasted. Our son who is not a big tamale fan tried it and loved it. They make homemade salsa. Their guac is among the very best we have ever tasted. Our son, a connoisseur of churros preferred his favorite ones from back home in San Diego. We loved our lunch so much that we decided to take some food to go for dinner in Sturgis that night. Best decision. Amazing, really amazing food, excellent service, charming ambience and very reasonable prices. Even writing about it, I feel a sense of loss because I doubt we will ever return to Sheridan, WY and I already miss the meal we had here. read more

We've driven past a million times and finally decided to go in. Don't let the kind of plain exterior/interior decor throw you; it is absolutely delicious and pretty authentic tasting for WY. Driving through on Tuesday at lunchtime. The place was buzzing with local people out on their lunch break. Environment is cozy in a home converted into a restaurant. Husband and wife team are the owner-operators. I really liked the 'El Tapatio Special' which was an enchilada, taco, tostada with guacamole on it, rice, and beans. Husband got the Grilled Shrimp and the fried ice cream. Shrimp were decent size and seasoned nicely. Instead of patronizing Qdoba or Jimmy Johns etc, come and support local entrepreneurs and have a tasty meal. read more

Four of us came here after my husband and I got married in a quick civil ceremony and it was the BEST. Lance and his wife own this amazing Mexican restaurant that's in a converted house. They have tons of outdoor patio space on the side and in the backyard, and servers were wearing masks. The food was to die for. Lance and his wife served us themselves and when we ordered shots to celebrate, Lance left the bottle of tequila on the table for us to finish! The food was so good and so filling. We had multiple rounds of chips and salsa + guacamole (it was SO good) and questions dip. My husband and I split a quesadilla and chimichanga and both were perfect. We're from chicago and are used to very authentic Mexican food and this restaurant was no different! We will be coming back for sure. Highly recommended--amazing service and food. read more

El Tapatio Dos is a little gem that I wish I could safely guard and tuck away however I feel compled to share this review because of how exquisite the food is. First of all I am from California where we have a Mexican resteraunt on almost every corner. Some good some not so much. This resteraunt is a standout of all that I have had. I had the steak plate with rice and beans. Firstly they use a Rib Eye for their Carne Asada...a Rib Eye! A Carne Asada ia traditonally a skirt steak cut but were in Wyoing so why not! Both the beans and the rice were cooked to perfection and the Chips and salsa were soooooo good. The chips, I was told, are house made at the resteraunt. Of course I came back the next day and enjoyed a order of Nachos. Yum so good, I had a Mojito, that was on special that day for the Rodeo and some Horchata that was also for the Rodeo only and I was in heaven. I will definitely come back whenever I am in town and I suggest you do the same. read more

I love this place and have had some great food here until today. I ordered the nachos for the first time and they had canned cheese on them. Canned cheese just like gas station nachos. They took them back and brought some with very little unmelted cheese which ate but did not enjoy. I will be back because everything else I have tried has been great. Excellent food. My two young kids are picky eaters and both my 5 year old and my 2 year old cleaned their plates. The staff was having a bit of an off day because they forgot one dish we ordered, but rectified it very quickly as soon as we brought it to their attention. Doubled back and tried it out. Yes, it was quite adequate, and the service was prompt and respectful. I imagine there are 'better' places to eat in Sheridan, possibly with Mexican food, but this was good. It was a slight bit better than good, and the servings were large.
