I met a friend here for drinks & when we got here around 5pm on a Friday l, it was pretty quiet & we got seated right away. By the time we left closet to 8, there was a wait outside & the entire place was buzzing! Mostly families with just a few couples at the bar. The ambiance was nice, I felt very safe & loved the music. The food was good, I ordered the Fajita quesadillas & I enjoyed them. My friend got the shrimp & bacon & she also liked them. We went back the next weekend we liked it so much! The chicken a la rana!!! I always have enough for lunch the next day, and its so tender, tons of serrano peppers! Its so good. So they have 2 types of rice: green and yellow as the kids call it. Both were great. The refried black beans hit the spot! Salsas are fresh and addicting. Margaritas need some work. The regular one just taste like margarita mix. But I did try some new specialty one, that i dont remember the name of, it had amaretto and a cinnamon sugar rim and was a great dessert cocktail. One of the best cheese enchiladas I have had in a while. They all start to taste the same after a while so it was nice to have a more meaty chili gravy. Okay so I went here on a Sunday trying to spend some alone time with myself. And I ordered a piña colada and beef fajita enchiladas. I underestimated them with the enchiladas. I ordered too when I should've just ordered one. It took me lunch and dinner to eat the last enchilada. They are so big !!! no wonder two was $32. Our server was Martin on our first visit , he was super!!! Recommendations were spot on & customers service was phenomenal!! The following week we came back, Martin was off so we had another server & he was wonderful as well but I forgot his name! Now we have gone at least 2-3 more times so I felt I MUST make a review!! This place is CONSISTENT!! The wait staff is so very courteous, EVERY SINGLE MALE EMPLOYEE grabs a door at every opportunity. Nowadays this type of courtesy & respect for others is getting more rare. Ever since Chuy's quit making the crunchy Chile Relleno, I've had to adjust my tastes to the egg battered versions. (Big foolish move, Chuy's!) That being said, El Tiempo (Fry and 10) earns top honors. Huge poblano stuffed with sliced beef and a mixture of raisins and pecans, stuffed into a thicker egg batter wins out! Gloria's is #2 because they throw in a cheese enchilada, but El Tiempo reigns. Alexi is also the best server in Katy. Ask for her section and you will be spoiled rotten. it was. I usually say I'll pass when a group of friends wanna go to eat after a baseball game and grab some TexMex. It has always been an over priced disappointment for me. I was floored when I saw the price of their Quesidilla$$$. For $30.00 you get a large 12" with chicken and cheese and a side of diced tomato, shredded lettuce and that's it. A $3.00 cost that has been jacked up to $30.00, absolutely shocking. Unfortunately for me it's the only item my son will eat so good there goes steak night.
