    Asada burrito

I came to Taco Frontera with high expectations because of all the hype on social media. The long line when we arrived made it seem promising. However, the food didn't quite live up to it. The meat in the tacos was a bit dry, and overall the flavors felt underwhelming. We tried four tacos and a burrito, and while everything was decent, nothing really stood out. At this price point--much higher than typical street tacos--I was hoping for something more memorable. I've honestly had better tacos from local street vendors. It's not bad, just not something I'd go out of my way to return for.

I've passed this place countless times and assumed it was mediocre Mexican food since it is in a prime location. A coworker recommended it, so we decided to give it a shot and were very impressed. At 5 pm on a Saturday, the line was extensive, and the wait for food after ordering is 15-20 minutes. When we stepped inside, we were immediately reminded of Tacos Numero 1 in NYC--come to find out, the owner of Tacos Frontera is brothers with the owner in NYC! Very good news, indeed. I tried a mulita with asada, which was kind of like a corn tortilla sandwich. The cheese was melty and caramelized, the beef had a delicious smokiness, and the portion was substantial. My boyfriend tried the torta with chicken and couldn't even finish it. He loved it! We also ordered a nopal taco (thinking the mulita wouldn't be enough for)--it was good, but definitely not the best item. The Jamaica was fresh and perfectly sweetened. Tell your loved ones to come here--they won't be disappointed!

This place has been on my list for the longest time and finally had the opportunity to try it yesterday! A big group of us came after a soccer tournament on a Saturday. I opted for tacos, I got a variety- chorizo & asada. They come with onions, cilantro, and guacamole on it. They have a variety of sauces which I use the green sauce. was very flavorful and not super spicy. The flavors of the tacos were soooo good & the toppings are fresh. I also tried some elote which was definitely one of my favorite elotes I've had in a while. Me and my friend tried a michelada with modelo. It wasn't my favorite michelada but it was refreshing at least. Overall very much enjoyed my experience here. The food didn't take long to come out and they bring it out to you on the patio.

I have written before about this thing that I called the Houston Culinary Honeymoon. Where a new restaurant opens and the line is around the corner for the first few months and then suddenly it is empty. This place doesn't need to worry about that. It is great. I had been hearing about this place for several months now and that the crowds to eat here were crazy. With the opening of their second location right along. Katy Freeway, I knew it was time to get it a try. I got here right when they opened. Such an impressive menu with so many choices. I opted for guacamole, esquites and a Vampiro. ALL DELICIOUS. This is the real deal. I immediately thought of a favorite place in Mexico City called Maizajo. Normally, I would complain about loud music in a place but today, with the conjuntos blasting away at full volume, it put a big smile on my face, and in a few minutes, I was no longer in Houston, but somewhere along the border. And all of these wonderful memories of trips to. Nuevo Laredo in my college years started coming back. They have a big crew in the kitchen and based on my experience today, they're turning out really good things, and I am already looking forward to my next visit here, along with visiting their original location on Highway 6.

The food here is fantastic! You can tell the tortillas are made from scratch--it completely elevates the flavor of the tacos. The meat is perfectly seasoned, and the fresh avocado is the perfect finishing touch. I also highly recommend the burrito; it's delicious, massive, and they definitely don't skimp on the fillings. Even with a line to order, the service was efficient and moved quickly, and the staff was very friendly. We also appreciated the variety of great hot sauces. Since we live quite a distance away, we made sure to grab a few extra items to go so we could enjoy them later. This place is definitely worth the trip!

Went ~2pm on a Saturday and it was absolutely packed. No space inside, but the weather was nice and there was seating outside. They were super quick and efficient, but most importantly, the tacos were delicious. Easily some of the best and most authentic Tijuana style tacos you'll find. Already looking forward to the next time I go. 2 Asada Tacos - $7.80 2 Pollo Tacos - $7.80 Guacamole w/ Chips - $4.95 Mexican Bottle Soda - $3.90 Quesabirria w/ Consome (4 tacos) - $13.95

Went here a month or so ago on a Friday night? I kinda forgot what day it was. Pretty tasty tacos! Got a couple of beefs and chicken! Line is packed as hell. But they have great logistics to keep the line moving and getting people their food! The meats well marinated. I usually never get corn tortillas but I got it here. They did not taste very corny. Usually corn tortillas smell weird but here. Delicous! We will be back!

The Mexican scene in that Katy area and growing steadily over last few years, and places like Tacos Frontera gave the scene a jolt by showcasing frontera cuisine, which shockingly hasn't found much of a presence in a Mexican heavy place like Houston. As a result, Tacos Frontera has become a bonafide destination and met with no shortage of hype. And the craziest part? It's probably deserving of it. The weekend (Sunday) ambiance is absolutely fire. It's hard not to be charmed by the energetic ambiance, the smiling staff, families left and right enjoying their meals, and the blasting of norteño music left and right. The chaos is a reflection of their popularity and the vibe is downright contagious. I love that they randomly provide free chicharron out to folks, whether they're waiting for takeout or guests who are already sitting. It reminds me I will let barbecue joints would give out beer the people waiting in line. Absolutely brilliant. The prices are most definitely on the higher end. Tacos are in the 3-4 range and the markup for other items is across the board. Bring cash because there is a $3 surcharge for credit cards. For me, it all starts with their adobada. The earthy, tangy, and slightly spicy flavors are excellent. A lot of people may confuse it with anothér marinated meat in al pastor, but while visually similar, the preparation methods are different. Currently they are one of the only places to offer it. The taco smell is wonderful. The aromas is what I expect in a proper taqueria.

I recommend this taco spot to anyone traveling to or through Katy. The tacos are sooo good !! & The service was so quick & the staff was also so friendly. Tacos frontera are authentic Mexican tacos & they have so much to chose from. We got the asada tacos but will go back to try more.

If you're craving delicious tacos, Tacos Frontera is definitely the spot! I've been here twice now, and it has not disappointed either time. I absolutely love the vibe -- it truly feels like you've stepped into Mexico. The atmosphere, the flavors, everything just hits right. I ordered a little bit of almost everything, and every single bite was delicious. If you're looking for authentic flavors and great energy, I definitely recommend this place. I'll for sure be back again!

Looks pretty but taste no bueno

Instagram fail. No bueno location. No bueno atmosphere. No bueno to food. Not alot of seating. Hilarious to me that I've lived in Houston this long and have found only one tasty taco restaurant and it's not this place. And that yet every taco restaurant in nj I tried, I loved. Sad news Houston!

I've been in Houston for almost a year and these are the best tacos I've had. Everything was so flavorful. The service was great and they played great music. I felt like I was in MX. Love this place!

Some of the freshest tastiest tacos you can get. Authentic and delicious! I ordered the chicken taco which comes in a soft and smoky fresh made corn tortilla. The taco is filled with juicy chicken thigh meat smothered with creamy guac, onions cilantro and served with radish slices, cucumber and lime on the side. Hit the spot after a couple hours playing pickleball. Yum yum yum, delicioso! The staff is friendly- order at the counter, take a seat and they bring out the order when it's ready.

Looking for fire tacos? Look no further than Taco Fuego! Finally a place that lives up to its name…read moreand reputation, Taco Fuego is top tier! Let's start with location, Taco Fuego has 5 locations to choose from. A mixture of store front and taco trucks. I decided to stop at their Katy location (taco truck) located at 1005 Katy fort bend road. This truck was very easy to find. My husband and I really wanted give this place a try for a couple reasons, 1. Every picture you see on IG makes your mouth water lol. 2. Their meat is fresh and locally sourced! The truck itself is nice, and clean. Also has a little Led sign that says catch tacos not feelings super cute for an IG photo. Service was quick, friendly and informative. We ordered a few different tacos to try: The Quesabirria Taco~ Birria or chicken, cheese, limes, cilantro and pickled onions on a corn tortilla. This one was really good and it definitely has a bit of a kick. The meat is so flavorful you do not need to add any additional sauces. The Barbacoa Taco~ Beef Barbacoa, cilantro, onions and salsa verde on a corn tortilla. This one was in the top 2 for me. Yum!! That beef was cooked to perfection! The Texan Taco~ brisket, Monterey Jack cheese, corn, cilantro, pickled onions and creamy cilantro on a flour tortilla. My husband inhaled it. Lolol. I got a tiny bite and it was very good. All of the flavors worked together so well! The Shrimp Taco~ my absolute favorite! Fried Shrimp, Monterey Jack Cheese, Sour Cream and Cajun sauce on a flour tortilla. The shrimp was fire. Perfectly seasoned. I don't know what they put in that Cajun sauce but they need to bottle it so I can take it home! Other things to note: Everything is halal They offer a veggie taco option They offer more than tacos. Ex: Ramen, Burgers, pupusas, empanadas, flautas and tamales. Churros for dessert! Drinks include: Horchata, lemonade and Cantaloupe. Be prepared to dine in your car.

And after taking our drink order and bringing our drinks, the friendly waitress went to sit down and play on her cell phone. The problem was we needed napkins. Napkins weren't on the table nor were they self service. Since she was playing on her cell phone, she wasn't doing her table rounds to be available to ask for napkins. Chips and salsa can naturally be messy. All it takes is one little boo-boo with salsa, and it splatters on the table. After what felt like 5 to 10 minutes, she eventually came back around to take our food order, but her lack of attention and behavior had already messed up the customer service experience. The real crime here is the food flavor itself. I ordered the taco mix. This is a simple way to judge the restaurant by its protein flavor. Each street size taco allowed a glimpse into the seasoning and preparation of their food. The El Pastor was lacking flavor. There was only one tiny pineapple tidbit. The Birria taco just has bad seasoning. The Carne Asada that had no sear or color, so it was gray and mushy. Cheese, crema, and avocado cannot make up for meat that doesn't taste good. While the server was friendly, it doesn't make up for the fact that the food itself is bad. And when you think about how tacos are so easy to make if all it involves is seasoning, a protein and cooking it. They're botching up simple cooking techniques and use bad recipes. The street cart concept is certainly fun. We did the churro cart, and it was fun to see the sparkler. The birthday girl liked the music and the churro experience. The Nutella chocolate is too firm so it doesn't really stick to the churro as well. It would be better if they made a Nutella sauce then straight up ultra thick Nutella. The cajeta was a bit sour because it's goat milk, not cows milk. I would prefer a caramel over cajeta. The best dipping sauce was the condensed milk. To their credit, the churros were fresh and piping hot. Still, this isn't the kind of place I would not want to return to for the simple fact that the food was not good. These kinds of dining experiences make you think I'm better off, cooking at home then driving to the restaurant, settling for so so service, paying for mediocre food. I wish restaurants collectively needed to pass some kind of flavor standard or cooking consistency to earn a restaurant license because at this rate mediocre food is being served, and the customer is not the wiser until they sit down and taste it. It also surprises me that these kinds of places can survive for years and years through serving mediocre food. I can't recommend it. I wouldn't return.
