That margarita was very nice and they really spiked it up for me. No skimping here. Kind of the usually Mexican restaurant but the al le carte selection is much greater. Favorite place for pork tamales. Love their shredded beef tacos. Love their pork burritos. These three items are ordered every time. If you want something not Mexican, they have surprisingly good chicken wings. I rate this our favorite Mexican restaurant. We try all, drive all over but this, close to home, is our favorite. We have been coming to El Tio Pepe for many, many years. It is our favorite Mexican restaurant in the region and we usually go at least every 1-2 weeks. Some of the best items on the menu: White cheese dip -- this is a creamy cheese dip with little bits of jalapeno in it. Order the large and save some to take home -- it tastes even better warmed up as the jalapeno flavor has had time to sink into the cheese. This is much better than the yellow cheese dip which is a little more "cheesier" and has peppers rather than jalapenos in it. Pork tamales -- these are large and filled with shredded pork in a tangy, but mild chile sauce. The masa is always very tender. Chimichanga with pork (can you tell I like their pork?) -- the flour tortilla is always very light and crispy, not overfried like in many places. It is topped with a nice helping of guacamole, sour cream, lettuce, and tomatoes. Beef flautas -- these have shredded beef (not ground) in a lightly fried and rolled corn tortilla. It's topped by guacamole, sour cream, and lettuce. As with the chimichanga, it is lightly fried and crisp, not overfried. Refried beans -- I know it's strange to list refried beans as a main point of review, but they are about the best I've had in Mexican restaurants. They are thick, not runny, and have a lot of good flavor. Chile rellano -- I'm from New Mexico and there we use Big Jim or Anaheim green chiles which are small and so you need at least two. Here they use poblano green chiles which are larger and easier to stuff. The flavor of the chile is not as rich as the other green chiles I mentioned, but it is still good. The relleno is filled with a ton of cheese and the batter is always very light and not greasy. We always ask to leave the chile sauce off so that we can enjoy the goodness of the chile and cheese flavors. The servers are always extremely nice and keep up with your needs without hovering. While all the prices are extremely reasonable, the best value is at lunch. You can pick a one item or two item meal from several different options with rice and beans which allows you to constantly mix and match items. This lets you have a different meal every time you visit. Overall, this is an awesome place to eat! read more

My husband and I have been coming here for over 10 years and are never disappointed. The staff is always very friendly and courteous. The orders come out quick and hot with fresh veggies and great tasting sides. If for some reason you aren't happy; they make it right. Chimechanga with chunks of beef and the hard tacos with chunks of beef are my go to's (they have several different meats to choose from). Their salsa has a great spicy bite that is you are interested goes amazing with their white cheese dip. If you are stopping by for a drink at the bar their gold margaritas and strawberry daiquiri are a great way to quench your thirst. The prices are reasonable especially for the quality of food. Depending on what night you go and what specials they may be having you may have to wait a little bit for a table but it is more than worth it. A for sure must try. read more

We tried El Tio Pepe for the first time due to the great reviews. The service is outstanding, quick, and welcoming. The food is above average. It is not "oh my god I have to have it again", but more like "I will mostly likely come back soon". The salsa has a tomato taste at first, but a nice kick at the end. You get a good amount of food for the price, but it is not a cheap as some of the other Mexican restaurants. I would recommend El Tio Pepe and will be returning. read more

No other Mexican restaurant in the area can remotely measure up to El Tio. Both locations have great service, quick hot food, and extremely affordable. Staff are always welcoming and helpful when it comes to menu selections as well. Margaritas are phenomenal and half price on Wednesday! Beer specials are on Tuesday. Meat and produce is always fresh. Also, LOVE the fact that I can buy chips and salsa to enjoy at home. It can be busy any day of the week but well worth the wait! read more

Legit Mexican food out in the county. All day chilaquiles (breakfast) that were clear your nose spicy made us a fan. The tacos ate authentic and flavorful. Only bad thing is they don't serve horchata. Oh and don't get turn off by a full waiting room, they turn over tables so well. read more

Im usually an El Maguey person but heard about El Tio Pepe and tried it, I am no longer an El Maguay person, I visited this place yesterday 11/11/16. Loved it! Salsa was great, had a nice bite, but not a bad think, good was flavorful, we were taken care of by Elizabeth, she was welcoming, helpful, pointed out some things not on the menu. Definitely going back. I don't speak Spanish so i never understand my waitor at El Maguay. It was nice being able to ask questions and get answers. read more

Awesome food and even better service! My boyfriend suggested this place based on reviews and for the first time in our almost 6 year relationship I actually agreed to a place of his choosing. Yes, I'm that indecisive girlfriend. Anyways, I'm glad I did! We went tonight for our second time (a busy Friday night) and happened to get the same server as our first visit, Gabby. She recognized us almost immediately which was pretty impressive, she seems to be quite popular with the regulars and for good reason. She's quick, accurate, on top of everything! We wasted no time emptying the bowls of chips and salsa, crispy chips and very flavorful salsa. On the second round they bring you a decanter of salsa (yes!!!!). Ordered guac as well, fresh and simple. I had Tacos Mexicanos, includes 3 street tacos with your choice of pork, steak or chicken or even one of each. I chose one of each, all so flavorful and juicy, definitely a good choice! Boyfriend had steak chunk chimichanga.. He's a bit of a chimi connoisseur, loved and devoured it. All in all we love this place, it's quaint and tasty with very friendly staff!
