More GREAT chiles rellenos... Best deal on the a la carte menu!!
    Valerie W.

Best choice for dine in eating on this stretch of S. Limestone. Not always as fast as some other El Toro locations, but definitely your best option in the area, if you're not in the mood for fast food. This is an often "overlooked" El Toro location (at least for us...) and it's a bit more "worn around the edges," but its convenient location, close to Interstate 70 and nearby motels, makes it a great choice if you're in the area. All the El Toro locations have the same menu, so it's really just a question of how well you're treated when you walk in the door (fine!) and the service you get before, during and after your meal (consistently good!!). No complaints, no surprises, just consistently good, well-made Mex/American food. I sometimes wish El Toro would branch off a bit, make some changes, or offer up some more "typical" Mexican cuisine, but it is what it is, good, standard, consistent food, iwith service and prices to match. BUEN PROVECHO!!

    Gross. Quesadilla 1 Piece

My coworkers and I travel all over the country and love trying local places, leave good reviews, and especially love trying the locals' version of amazing Mexican food. I know the farther you get from the South/Southwest that Mexican food really isn't Mexican anymore.. but good Lawd. Google image search Quesadilla. Do it. You won't find anything like this. This was a lightly toasted tortilla shell full of mushy onions, peppers, grilled chicken and what could only be the contents of the grease trap from the night before. This wasn't a Quesadilla. This was an invitation to a date night with the porcelain throne and a side of colon cleanse. I can only imagine that the cook saw the order for Grilled Chicken Quesadilla come through and thought "As little as effort as possible." If you're looking for anything remotely, esthetically or cosmetically close to a quesadilla in this town - go to Taco Bell. Or just wrap some spam in a quesadilla. If you want a colon cleanse, dine at this fine establishment. Also, the service was seriously top notch. Your staff is super nice. Do better for them so they don't have to be seen in public serving this stuff.

After dinner, they have ice cream pops and they are delicious! My favorite on their menu is their tacos as well as their volcano chimichanga. They had fresh flowers on each table, which was such a nice touch. As soon as we sat down, we were served crispy pinwheels and hot sauce. The chimichanga was on specials and it was beautifully presented, almost reminding me of a giant dumpling! You can choose from a variety of different options for protein, so I chose steak. It had a creamy sauce surrounding it, and also came with salad and rice. The rice was flavorful and the salad had some guac on it, so it was creamy and good. The Al pastor torta was more like a flat bread/ pita sandwich, and was filled with diced Al pastor, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and avocado. We ordered a side of grilled onions and peppers, which were spicy and went well with the torta. We ordered jalapeños but we were served Serranos, which were even spicier! The server was really welcoming and efficient. You can pay the bill as you walk out, and credit cards incur a fee. Tips are also separate and you can give it directly to the server! They also had some desserts on display but we were too full to indulge this time.

Our server was very nice and personable throughout the meal. He did forget to bring silverware and napkins for the appetizers, so we had to ask for them, but otherwise the service was friendly. We started with the chips, salsa, and queso. The chips were fresh, crisp, and not overly salty. The salsa tasted fresh and homemade, and the queso had a nice kick that kept me coming back for more. I also tried the street corn. Unfortunately, this was my least favorite item. It tasted more like corn that had been poured straight from a can rather than fresh roasted street corn. The birria empanadas were good, with a crispy shell and flavorful filling. The sauce served with them was delicious. My only surprise was that I expected the cheese, onion, and cilantro to be inside the empanadas, but most of those toppings were served on the plate instead. For my entrée, I ordered the bowl with half chicken and half shrimp. The shrimp was the star of the dish. It had a nice crispy coating, was seasoned well, and had great flavor. The chicken was a little under-seasoned in comparison, but the portions were generous and they definitely didn't skimp on the protein. My dining companion ordered the California Burrito. The presentation was impressive, and it was definitely a substantial portion. However, we were surprised to find green beans inside, which wasn't something either of us expected in a California Burrito. Overall, the restaurant was clean, the portions were generous, and there were definitely some highlights. The fresh salsa, queso, shrimp, empanada sauce, and portion sizes stood out the most for me. While a couple of dishes missed the mark for my personal taste, I'd be willing to return and try some of the tacos or other menu items. Rating: 3.5/5

It's a combination plate, and has rice and beans, and comes with two tortillas, corn or wheat. Mostly, this is a sort of gloppy dish. But the taste was stellar, the chilies were great, and it was impressive as the place was PACKED and there was a convention in town that overwhelms most restaurants. Service was good and professional. When I'm in Xenia, I'm going there, which might not be until May of 2024. If you're trying to make a decision, you will not be disappointed. There was an average number of guests at restaurant. Waiter seemed.......confused. No drink refills, no chips and salsa refills. Never returned to check if food was ok after he served it. Kitchen was very, very slow in preparing and sending out food. My chimichangas were burned. Granddaughter's chicken nuggets were so hard that she had trouble biting into them. We were celebrating a graduation with a party of 13 (been there plenty of times with a large party with zero problems). As such, I don't think that anyone in our party complained about anything (although keep in mind the waiter did not check back after service to make sure everything was ok) not wanting to dampen the celebration as well as just being ready to get out of there after such a miserable experience. Then we go to pay. A 'new'? very inept male was trying to ring people out. He ended up just kind of wandering away from the register. The foyer was packed. A very long line formed until a manager stepped up and replaced him. Again, we have never had an issue with Los Mariachi's before tonight. It is my daughter-in-law's favorite place. But, if this has been our first visit, we definitely would not return.

To say we were not disappointed is an understatement; we were stunned at how enjoyable the experience was. Everything.. EVERYTHING about this place is wonderful. Stimulating because the music Powerhouse 60s hits from Ray Charles, Tom Jones, the Beatles and more was a *perfect* choice to enjoy yet not disrupt quiet conversation.
