The most amazing chile rellenos I've had in a loooong time!!
Valerie W.

PERFECT!! A great little "hole in the wall" Mexican restaurant, hidden away right in the middle of the equally "hole in the wall" town (village?) of Cedarville. We wandered in at around 1:30-2pm on a Saturday and had the place, and the wonderful, personable waitress (daughter of Lola, who's passing down her wonderful recipes), owner, and cook all to ourselves. This new restaurant (opened 9/2019) is definitely a labor of love for this family, including their two cute kiddos, and it definitely shows. Simple, nothing "fancy," just VERY good food, made with HEART. We ordered from their dinner menu, the lunch menu is only available on weekends, no problem there. PLENTY of tempting choices, some standards and some great surprises, including the BEST, FRESHEST (and most colorful!!) plate of chiles rellenos I've had since leaving Mexico!! The Mr's carne asada was great as well, and we both left full and happy!! We'll make the trip back to sample more of their menu, including their tamales, which they make to order and sell by the dozen. Lola's is a hidden gem worth seeking out, whether you're in the area or just passing through. Wonderful people, great food, inspiring story!!! Enhorabuena, Lolas!!!

We have been awaiting the opening of this new restaurant in Cedarville and it was worth the wait. Pros- the food was delicious! We got the Abuelas Burrito, pork chimichanga, Tex mex enchiladas, and tacos de carnitas. All were very tasty. I got a tamale on the side and that was the highlight, with the verde sauce it was over the top. My son's burrito was massive! My chimichanga was stuffed full of meat and the cheese on top was good. Overall, the food was really good. Cons-they were a bit slow, but they (the owner I assume) came over to apologize and they are still just slammed, especially due to it being homecoming in town. Also, know there is a 3% surcharge for using credit card, which is a tad annoying these days. Overall, I would recommend for sure!

It doesn't look like much, but it's pretty legit. Our group of 8 ranged from super happy to moderately happy with their choices. Personally, I was ecstatic at the pineapple Lola, a recommendation from our host (not on the menu).

I just love this little hometown Mexican restaurant. We ordered a new item, a Quesapizza , and it was terrific. It's basically a Mexican pizza with your choice of ingredients. We had ground beef but you can have chicken, barbecoa, or vegetarian. We loved it. The owner came over to talk to us and he's someone you can tell loves what he does. Atmosphere isn't bad but kind of plain but the food is really good. Come support this nice family the next time you're near Cedarville, Ohio. You won't be disappointed.

This was a good Mexican restaurant close by to Cedarville University. The food was good and the service was good. Nice small town feel.

We had barely made it to our table before employees were yelling, "¡Vámonos! ¡Vámonos!" Then, before we even had a chance to sit down, our waiter was already asking what we wanted to drink. When my mother-in-law mentioned that the unsweetened tea didn't really taste like tea, instead of trying to help or understand, he responded with an attitude and said, "The one I gave you is unsweetened tea. It's not water." It came across as very dismissive. He then rushed us to place our food orders. My husband only likes mozzarella cheese, and we've been to Mexican restaurants that use mozzarella on certain dishes. When we asked what kind of cheese came on the tacos, the waiter quickly replied, "Shredded cheese," with no explanation, then immediately pointed at me and said, "Next," before my husband could even finish asking his question. I looked at him and asked specifically if it was mozzarella because that's the only cheese my husband likes. He said yes, but when the food arrived, it clearly wasn't mozzarella. When we politely asked if the dish could be made without cheese instead, he got defensive and said, "I told you it was shredded cheese." We reminded him that he had told us it was mozzarella, and he walked away upset. To make matters worse, my dad arrived a few minutes late, had just sat down, and before he even had time to look at the menu, the waiter asked for his order and sarcastically said, "Any day now." Throughout the rest of the meal, our drinks and chips were never refilled unless we specifically asked. We actually had to ask two different servers to refill both because our waiter wasn't checking on our table. The food truly deserves five stars, but the service was some of the worst I've ever experienced. It made what should have been a great meal feel stressful and unwelcoming.

To say we were not disappointed is an understatement; we were stunned at how enjoyable the experience was. Everything.. EVERYTHING about this place is wonderful. Service was very attentive, friendly and helpful (and our waitress had only been working there 1 month.) The overall ambiance was stimulating and captivating. Stimulating because the music Powerhouse 60s hits from Ray Charles, Tom Jones, the Beatles and more was a *perfect* choice to enjoy yet not disrupt quiet conversation. Stimulating because the decor was so unique and interesting. And because just the vibe of everyone in there really enjoying themselves was palpable. What about the food you say? Every ingredient of all 4 different taco choices we made was wonderful; fresh, tasty and well prepared and presented. It's not very close to us but we are already excitedly figuring out when we can get back there - and I'm confident we are going to become regulars. It's a small place so going at peak meal hours might risk waiting. They have about 10 tables as well as another 8 or 10 stools at the bar. We did not drink so cannot review that aspect. We were told the place had come under new management in the last few months. As well as that place seemed to be functioning, we would never have guessed that. PS I didn't know until we ordered that they were giving free tacos to veterans, so that's a really cool mark on their patriotism and sense of community. PS 2 Small warning: The bench seats at the east (entrance) wall cut off circulation in my legs.

Got a seat at the bar and ordered a NA mojito and it was delicious, and also at only $5 I appreciated the price- sometimes NA drinks are as much as the full alcohol kind. Great attentive service and friendly chats with the employees. I went with the nachos which were SOOO good. Nachos are one of mh favorite foods, so I know good nachos- especially loved the pickled onions and that there were tons of toppings. My friend got two tacos with beef- can't remember the exact kinds but he enjoyed them. Such a great spot and will be back.

They had fresh flowers on each table, which was such a nice touch. As soon as we sat down, we were served crispy pinwheels and hot sauce. The chimichanga was on specials and it was beautifully presented, almost reminding me of a giant dumpling! You can choose from a variety of different options for protein, so I chose steak. It had a creamy sauce surrounding it, and also came with salad and rice. The rice was flavorful and the salad had some guac on it, so it was creamy and good. The Al pastor torta was more like a flat bread/ pita sandwich, and was filled with diced Al pastor, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and avocado. We ordered a side of grilled onions and peppers, which were spicy and went well with the torta. We ordered jalapeños but we were served Serranos, which were even spicier! The server was really welcoming and efficient. You can pay the bill as you walk out, and credit cards incur a fee. Tips are also separate and you can give it directly to the server! They also had some desserts on display but we were too full to indulge this time.
