    Quesadillas Fritas

Another great meal from this Taqueria, plus we tried the house made margaritas. The bartender is making his own syrups, his margaritas are refreshing and delightful. This Chicharrones De Harina (Mexican wheel chips) time Richelle got the quesadillas fritas and I got the pambazo and we ordered the avacado dip appetizer. Instead of tortilla chips they gave us chicharrones de harina (Mexican wheel chips), to try. We have not had chicharrones de harina before but they are a fun change from the stand tortilla chips. Service is always fantastic. The dinner area still throws me because it is more casual American country style verse some Mexican styles.

Went to the new Senor Piquin for the first time today. Inside the old Teaberry's on Leffels it's spartan but nice. I think they should paint the chairs diff bright colors or get a bright color on the walls, it looks more clean county kitchen than vibrant Mexican. Outside need some color too, hopefully those plants beds will have flowering plants soon. We forgot to get pictures of the entrees as we were both starving we didn't think off it until they were nearly gone. Grrr. Starting off, You get these wagon wheel chicarone chips and a spicy sauce free, but we ordered chips and queso anyway, and while the chips were freshly fried from tortillas, the cheese sauce had no flavor. I actually had to add some salt, something even my mom who thinks *everything* is too salty even agreed that it needed. It has a few chunks tomatoes, but no green Chiles, no flavor at all. It needed some. If something can taste white, it did. (I mean I have better restuaraunt style green Chile queso in my fridge right now.) Mom didn't like how watered down it seemed to be, it was marginally thicker after cooling, but I've never left filled queso bowl at a table before. I added some to my chilequilies but still left some. Inconceivable! Mom, who we joke is "flavorphobic", got the huevo rancheros. There's no dish with eggs she doesn't like, unless it's spicy. And while it was different from most that she usually got even she said it didn't have much flavor. She wasn't impressed. And normally non-spicy would be her jam. I ordered the Chilequilies, a longtime favorite I love traditional, texmex as well as half-assed homemade... and it was good, but very different from what I had gotten before from the old location. It hard a little wang of spice, but far from the slow burn of old. It was almost too hard to eat with the way it was all piled on. I had trouble finding the sauced chips under the chicken and fried egg. I think it just needed to be on a larger plate so things had more space. It tasted good, I enjoyed it felt more like a fork defying treasure hunt. The refried beans tasted good, real nice flavor so many scew up, if not a little runny. I was sad tamales were not an option. I'm always in the mood for tamales and they are one of my measuring sticks for Mexican. I think they need to reverse course and step up the flavors to attract customers, if you are that far off the beaten path, give people something to drive for. This town has lots of Mexican, mostly Tex Mex, it needs a more traditional yet approachable version too with Flavors that really sing. Currently, El Speedy Vaquero across from Bob Evans at Bechtle and 41 remains my fave Mexican in town.

Solid 4 stars. Non-descript restaurant. I have driven by it 100's of times and finally decided to stop in for lunch. Food is made fresh while you wait. Good sized menu, all authentic meals and all reasonably priced. Simple food, made with excellent ingredients and lots of love. Fantastic. We will definitely go back and try the rest of the menu. AND ITS CLOSE TO HOME!! Another bonus.

Carne asada lunch special with grilled potatoes

I found this place by chance. It's an old highway dinner now a GREAT quaint restaurant. Not a lot of seating but tons of character. The gentleman that took my order was so nice, helpful and offered their 3 taco lunch special. The meal took a bit to prepare, but came out HOT. He ran out of beans so he offered grill potatoes instead. Wow they were fabulous. The food plate came out and was so presentable. 3 carne asada cilantro, grilled potatoes and rice. The salsa was hot, so I used it sparingly but still was good. Don't drive by this place just cause it looks divey, it's fun!

Our server was very nice and personable throughout the meal. He did forget to bring silverware and napkins for the appetizers, so we had to ask for them, but otherwise the service was friendly. We started with the chips, salsa, and queso. The chips were fresh, crisp, and not overly salty. The salsa tasted fresh and homemade, and the queso had a nice kick that kept me coming back for more. I also tried the street corn. Unfortunately, this was my least favorite item. It tasted more like corn that had been poured straight from a can rather than fresh roasted street corn. The birria empanadas were good, with a crispy shell and flavorful filling. The sauce served with them was delicious. My only surprise was that I expected the cheese, onion, and cilantro to be inside the empanadas, but most of those toppings were served on the plate instead. For my entrée, I ordered the bowl with half chicken and half shrimp. The shrimp was the star of the dish. It had a nice crispy coating, was seasoned well, and had great flavor. The chicken was a little under-seasoned in comparison, but the portions were generous and they definitely didn't skimp on the protein. My dining companion ordered the California Burrito. The presentation was impressive, and it was definitely a substantial portion. However, we were surprised to find green beans inside, which wasn't something either of us expected in a California Burrito. Overall, the restaurant was clean, the portions were generous, and there were definitely some highlights. The fresh salsa, queso, shrimp, empanada sauce, and portion sizes stood out the most for me. While a couple of dishes missed the mark for my personal taste, I'd be willing to return and try some of the tacos or other menu items. Rating: 3.5/5

The serving size was generous, the price was reasonable. The happy hour pricing on a large draft beer, also reasonable. There was an average number of guests at restaurant. Waiter seemed.......confused. No drink refills, no chips and salsa refills. Never returned to check if food was ok after he served it. Kitchen was very, very slow in preparing and sending out food. My chimichangas were burned. Granddaughter's chicken nuggets were so hard that she had trouble biting into them. We were celebrating a graduation with a party of 13 (been there plenty of times with a large party with zero problems). As such, I don't think that anyone in our party complained about anything (although keep in mind the waiter did not check back after service to make sure everything was ok) not wanting to dampen the celebration as well as just being ready to get out of there after such a miserable experience. Then we go to pay. A 'new'? very inept male was trying to ring people out. He ended up just kind of wandering away from the register. The foyer was packed. A very long line formed until a manager stepped up and replaced him. Again, we have never had an issue with Los Mariachi's before tonight. It is my daughter-in-law's favorite place. But, if this has been our first visit, we definitely would not return.

Lots of new stuff on the bigger menu, lots of birria choices (quesadillas/tacos, burritos, "pizza" and ramen). But it had chicken, cheese, chorizo, lettuce and rice inside, a steak and a skewer of shrimp ontop, and mothered in cheese and salsa Verde(my fave)... It was ginormous, it was fantastic, and came on a platter the size of a boogie board. I struggled to cut it in half and have half left and a side of rice for tommorrow. Woot. 10/10 I got a tamale too, chicken not pork, the sauce was meh, I prefer a rich mole but the masa flavor and texture were great. 7/10, removed a point for chicken over pork and the sauce, decent but not the best I've had. To say we were not disappointed is an understatement; we were stunned at how enjoyable the experience was. Everything.. EVERYTHING about this place is wonderful. Service was very attentive, friendly and helpful (and our waitress had only been working there 1 month.) The overall ambiance was stimulating and captivating. Stimulating because the music Powerhouse 60s hits from Ray Charles, Tom Jones, the Beatles and more was a *perfect* choice to enjoy yet not disrupt quiet conversation. Stimulating because the decor was so unique and interesting. And because just the vibe of everyone in there really enjoying themselves was palpable. What about the food you say? Every ingredient of all 4 different taco choices we made was wonderful; fresh, tasty and well prepared and presented. It's not very close to us but we are already excitedly figuring out when we can get back there - and I'm confident we are going to become regulars. It's a small place so going at peak meal hours might risk waiting. They have about 10 tables as well as another 8 or 10 stools at the bar. We did not drink so cannot review that aspect. We were told the place had come under new management in the last few months. As well as that place seemed to be functioning, we would never have guessed that.
