So excited to see humongous plates for the fajita for two meal. Looked excellent! That was all though. Very quickly our food came out. The mountainous sizzling fajita plate was piled high but it was mostly cheap veggies: copious and undercooked onions which I can still feel and taste in my mouth well afterwards, green peppers, whitish tomatoes, and red peppers (few of these but the best part). The chicken was noticeably dry as cardboard and tasted like it had been reheated several times. Shrimp were very small. Chips and salsa were fine but left very disappointed. Chili's has smaller portions but it's all better, fresher ingredients. Really had high hopes seeing 4 stars for this but I think those stars mostly go to smothered enchiladas or chimichangas where the meals are doused in cheese and sauce so one wouldn't know the difference. Really nice interior but this may be a family spot where quality isn't too high of a priority. read more

I have gone to this restraint two times and each time I end up with my head in a ceramic bowl praying for the pain to end. One thing this restraint fails to mention is the fact that they use Peanut Butter in some of their sauces. As someone who is deathly allergic this causes my body to go into defcon red mode. I stead of labeling or warning and telling you or putting it in their menu, they have it in small letters at the very bottom of their menu. Their waiters should have to tell you as part of their service to a customer. As the atmosphere is friendly and the waitresses act fast, they should be in charge of telling you, I can only imagine how many individuals have been caused damage by this restaurants lack of warning you that they use peanut butter, I do not recommend this restaurant as I do not see it as a safe environment if you or a member of your family are allergic to Peanuts. read more

Wow... just wow. This was the most tender skirt steak I've ever had (ordered the carne asada). The waiter was quite attentive and neglected nobody. Great food and great service and all the food came out in a timely manner and tasted great! The restaurant is clean and fairly well themed and a nice price for the amount of food you receive. However, they NEED to advertise the allergy warnings more than they do. My sister has a severe peanut allergy and has gotten sick and thrown up both times we've been to the restaurant. When we looked on the menu online at the very bottom of the page they give an allergy warning with a note saying that some things contain peanut butter with no clarification on what exactly has it. Yesterday was my first time at El Toro Viejo but it definitely won't be my last! Although quite basic externally, the inside is bright, colorful and inviting with authentic background music. The food is delicious and well portioned. Green sauce/salsa was served with the chips and salsa and the chips were fresh. The service is friendly with frequent checks to see that glasses are filled and if anything is needed. I had chicken chimichanga combo plate and topped it off with flan! I loved the chimichanga, refried beans and rice and the flan was fantastic!!!! I'm already looking forward to the next visit! read more

If it was just food I guess i would be forced to give it 3 stars, but the overall experience was great so 4 it is. Was the food good? It was good, but it wasn't great. It didn't have a lot of flavor, but the quality of the meat was good and it tasted fine.
