Mango Wings

Decent spot but I was hoping for more. El Tucan recently opened near me and I was anxious to give them a try. I went with the Trio Fajita Texaco Bowl (chicken, steak and shrimp) and the 10 wings. For comparison purposes, the bowl was similar to what you get from Chipotle -- a bed of rice topped with grilled veggies, lettuce, cheese and protein. Considering the price at $18 I expected slightly more protein. Something else that would have made it better was if the beans were well drained. I ended up with a soupy situation because the beans weren't drained. The wings were alright, I would recommend asking them to fry them hard though. Service was cool. I ordered online and I was greeted when I entered. The vibe is a very casual blend of take out and dine in service.

camarones al mojo de ajo

We ordered the taco plate (2 carne asada 1 pollo) and the camarones al mojo de ajo. Both plates were great. The tacos came with a green salsa which tasted home made and was a little spicy and sweet. I wish they had other options for salsa. The carne asada and chicken both were seasoned well. The carne asada was our favorite. The shrimp plate was great but a little on the salty side, but very tasteful.

Birthday perks. Song with tambourines, sombrero, and fried ice cream

Went to @eltucanmexicanogrill, the new Mexican Restaurant in Indian Head, MD for a teammates birthday. Great service, Good food, Huge portions. If there's chips and salsa and salsa mas picante when you ask you can put this in the will return pile. https://www.facebook.com/share/1AgNJHieAE/

Quick service, friendly staff, really good food (I'm from the southwest so I can be a bit picky). 10/10 recommend

Something new to Indian Head area. Ingot the taco salad and it was delicious. Just a tad pricey but I would go back again.

The food came out super fast and piping hot, which we appreciated. We ordered the birria tacos and shrimp birria tacos. The flavor was good, but it did feel like the shrimp portion was a bit skimpy. Not enough shrimp just a lot of cheese. Also disappointed that they don't offer cocktails, which would really elevate the experience, so one star deducted for that. Still a good spot if you want quick, hot Tex-Mex with great service

Unfortunately, the queso was disappointing...,very watery and lacking any spice. I ordered a shrimp taco (without tartar sauce), and the shrimp was overcooked. My friend had the Fiesta Lime Chicken; if you order it, I recommend getting it without the chips, as mixing chips with grilled chicken and melted cheese created an odd texture. On a positive note, the beans...while a little soupy, were flavorful and included ground meat, and the pico was fresh and delicious. The rice tasted more like plain rice than traditional Spanish rice. We didn't order any drinks and stuck with water. Overall, I'd give this place 3 out of 5 stars. Since it was New Year's Day, I'm open to giving it another try to see if the experience improves.

I had their shrimp birria tacos. SO good! The consomé was delicious too. I also ordered the dip with corn in it. Wow, that was great. First time trying this. Everything was nice and hot, and was still hot when I got home. Highly recommend this place! They used to have a food truck but they opened a brick and mortar place about 4 miles away from my house. I had said "I heard you all have the best birria" and I was so excited for them to tell me what to try first. They have birria quesadillas and much more, but the lady told me to try the tacos. I ordered that and it wasn't too long before they were ready. I didn't uncover the consomme in my pic, but trust me when I say it was delicious. The tacos were the perfect texture, were flavorful, and it was such a delightful little tray of food. I'm glad I can finally say I have tried this spot. They have a brick-and-mortar that was actually just down the street from the fair. I can't wait to visit the storefront and explore more of the menu!
