My wife and I were headed home from Hot Springs, AR and swung by Van Buren specifically to try El Tumi De Oro Peruvian Restaurant. A small authentic family operated restaurant that I would call Peruvian home cookin'. We dropped by to have Sunday dinner with the family. I think the whole family works there and like any family I believe dad was the grill master for the rotisserie chicken, which was my order. I got a half chicken with fries and the slaw. The slaw was a simple mixture of cabbage with what tasted like mayonnaise for dressing. The chicken was very moist, tender and slightly smoky from the charcoal. Delicious. My wife had the classic Lomo Saltado, a meal just about everyone enjoys. Tender beef, broth, onion and tomatoes on a fresh pile of fried potatoes. While paying the bill, I asked the young lady about the absence of fried rice on their menu, a typical Chinese influenced Peruvian meal. She said that the Peruvian Sauteed Spaghetti and even the Lomo Saltado were both Chinese influenced. I had to follow with another question regarding authentic Peruvian foods. The answer was "No." So, it is unlikely guinea pig will be a menu option anytime soon. Dang it! I wouldn't hesitate to eat one of the little rascals. I don't know where to begin....EVERYTHING was great from the cleanliness to the atmosphere and to top it off the food was phenomenal!! As a military member I have travelled all around the world and trust me this is one of those Mom and Pop shops that you will regret missing! This is the very Best chicken I have ever had. Oh my! We even ordered a whole chicken to take home for dinner. My husband had the sautéed chicken spaghetti, onions & bell peppers. I had the rotisserie chicken plate with rice & salad. I even ate some of the skin which I never do unless it's unbattered crispy skin & then only a bite or or two, it was so flavorful. The combination of spices were awesome. I had to eat more of the skin for the flavor & I totally picked the bones. The service was quick, polite & positive. We even got a goodbye from the family before we left. read more

Do not sleep on this place try it today, it is 100 percent worth it. My family and I love trying new cuisines and it was fresh, flavorful and prepared so well. We got the steak a lo pobre, the sauteed spaghetti with chicken and finished our meal off with their cookies. We food danced through our entire meal. Lomo saltado was just like momma made it. Delicioso! Highly recommend. Staff were very hospitable and met our expectations.
