This is not Chinese food and not a representation of Cantonese/HK food. As an ABC, this food is disgusting and not authentic. I'm used to rude waitstaff, but this was different. Being on the middle of BFN and having limited ingredients is not an excuse for the food to come out the way it did. The food is not fresh. The chicken came out gray, vegetable eggrolls only had cabbage, rice had an old oil aftertaste seasoned with soy sauce. We were respectful, but we could not stomach the food. I've eaten several times at "Hong Kong" and have yet to be disappointed. They serve traditional Chinese cuisine, not the "Americanized" kind. They recently switched to a buffet style menu which apparently didn't work out as they planned as they thankfully reverted back to family dining (a drive up window is also available). There are several dishes that I have found especially flavorful, with the garlic chicken, short rib in Peking sauce and Triple Delight being especially good. read more

We have ordered food to go here for over 3 years. The food is always hot, fresh and flavorful. Twice now, we have had serious problems with ordering through Yelp. For some reason, the order is not being processed correctly between the restaurant and Yelp. I think the app is through GrubHub. The communication problem is that the order goes through, but the payment does not. The restaurant says the problem is GrubHub. "Order through Door dash.". The restaurant doesn't get credit for the money I paid GrubHub, so I am expected to pay twice. Eating out is a treat for us, paying twice is too much. In summary, eat at Hong Kong, don't order through GrubHub. read more

On Christmas Day 2022 I called in for 2 orders of the #2 lunch specials and order of home style Tofu & they charged me for 4 orders when I got there (and that's even after the person in the phone repeated it back to me and I sure didn't hear 4 orders, Now if you can't understand English then don't be answering the phone). Then it came up to $46.90 on the receipt on the bag but was charged 96 cent more after running my discover card & was told to call my bank to fix the mess you that person made , ( I used credit NOT debit and I should of gotten the whole order taken off my discover for all the trouble! ) .. the person I was speaking with kept saying ohh my machine and just said check with my bank .. now I know it's only $.96 but if you charge that every person that comes in your making a lot of money, so SHAME on you for doing that and not fixing your machine and acting like YOU don't understand .. I will NOT be back ever cause I'm TIRED of screw ups ever since Covid has been around ... seems like it's the norm everywhere I go! Good luck everyone and check your receipts when paying by card. The barbecue pork is extremely dry as if they just slapped a red sauce on it and over baked it in the oven and they're hot and sour soup I can't even explain must be the worst I've ever had. Upon arrival, the front door was propped open. Flies and wasps were flying all over the inside of the restaurant. It was 80 degrees out, and they didn't have the A/C on. On 6/08/20, after spending 3 days helping a friend move from Los Angeles to Fort Smith, I was extremely tired but wanted to grab some dinner before cleaning up and getting some rest. After perusing some restaurant reviews and noticing Kong Chinese Restaurant's were excellent recently , I called and ordered the Garlic Chicken with steamed rice. Mind you, I live in an area of Los Angeles County that is predominately Asian, where there are literally hundreds of Chinese restaurants. Although I've visited a fair share of them and found some of their offerings quite good, I can honestly say Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant surpasses them all. The chicken was moist, very flavorful and seasoned perfectly in the best garlic sauce I've ever tasted. The steamed rice was also moist and the ideal side dish to round out the meal. If there was something to complain about I didn't find it as all the employees I encountered were friendly and helpful and the establishment was well kept inside and out. I'm heading back to Los Angeles on 6/10/20. Before doing so I'll be placing another order at Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant. Dave F.
