On Friday I went to have lunch with my family. The food was great and the service was good. The only thing that really threw me off to the point my kids were asking what was going on was the behavior of the two cashiers. They were yelling, playing around, tickling and even biting each other behind the counter. It was unprofessional and uncomfortable to watch in a family setting. We are on a road trip in Van Buren, Arkansas and we like to go to local restaurants. I looked up the reviews and many of them from a year ago rated this restaurant 4-5 stars. So we decided to try the Mexican food. We ordered margaritas and they were fair, no flavor. The chips were bland and the salsa had no flavor. We should of left after having drinks. We were hungry and had not eaten since breakfast so we ordered. I ordered beef enchiladas with red sauce, beans and rice. My husband ordered enchiladas beef, chicken and spinach with beans and rice. The beans were burnt tasting the chicken and beef enchiladas were tasteless. We added salsa and Tapatio to give the food more flavor. Overall the food was worse than Taco Bell. They need to train the cook not to burn the refried beans, and to taste their sauces and add more spices, onions and garlic. read more

This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in this area! We go here often the food is very good, good portions -we usually have left overs of fajitas. The chips are not greasy or salty, they are wonderful as well as the dipping sauce. We have never been disappointed! Tuesday's & Thursday's are margarita day, the drinks are great. We walked in and we're seated immediately and served free chips/salsa. Our server was great. Efficient, nice and quick. The margaritas were nice and citrusy... not sweet and $4.50 We split the Jalisco Fajitas for one and it was plenty for the both of us with aside of guacamole. Overall our meal with tip was $30. Eh, it's not the mexican food that I'm used to back home in California. Chips & salsa were a plus. Horchata was a bit watered down but it was way better than the other horchatas I've been trying around the area. The pork enchilada I had with verde sauce was okay, didn't like the verde sauce they served. Waiter was pretty attentive. Boyfriend ordered a spinach quesadilla and it had so much spinach, but no queso. Weird. But then again who would order a spinach quesadilla from a mexican restaurant? So it was a bad choice on his end. I think I would only go back just to try their margaritas. read more

Very Slow service for underworked staff (4 servers could not handle 9 tables of 2-4 patrons). My coworker and I stopped for a beer while our food was prepared for takeout. After 45 minutes and two beers each we got our food. Unfortunately I could see from where I was sitting that our food had sat on counter for fifteen minutes before it was identified as ours and brought over. The beer, salsa and chips were great. Since service was spotty I decided to meet the waitress at the register to complete my transaction. I was presented with someone else's credit card while another employee took a customers order at the register. I said "That's not mine!" She tried to give it to me again. Whereupon I repeated but with a raised voice. The employee at the register said "ill call police!" As a threat. Finally a third employee came over with my bill and card. I signed and left receipt telling register boy "notice there's no tip? you should know how I feel about the service." I asked for the manager when register boy identified himself as manager. I tried to tell him about my problem with his service and he threatened to call police again raising the business phone from counter. My jaw dropped. "Are you kidding? Complaints are met with threats!" I turned around, looked at the dining room and left with our food. Food was marginally flavorful but also very salty and of extremely poor quality. How else do you sell almost a pound of beef in a single serving fajita without having very low quality standards? read more

We used to love this place. I do not know what has happened, but things have sure changed. In the last three times, we have twice left totally disappointed. Up until tonight, at least the service was ok, sadly tonight it was not. The food has gone from pretty good to totally tasteless. My cheese enchilada was flat as a pancake and the cheese inside was a little like biting into a piece of rubber. The Chili Relleno didn't seem to have any cheese inside and the pepper was awful. All in all, quite a sad outing. We probably won't be back again. Third try and it just keeps getting worse. I was raised in South Texas and frankly I can make a better Mexican dinner at home for a lot less money!! Sorry La Huerta, it's sad what you have become. Tried to give you the benefit of the doubt, but after three tries, you haven't improved or come near what you used to be. read more

Good location, good building for restaurant, clean. Chefs need help, by tasting food before it's served. Chips were stale, old, left overs. Chile relleno was not fresh, crust or egg layer was old stale & the oil it was fried in tasted rancid. Salad had two day old lettuce, no dressing. Waiter should offer some good dressing to go with salad. Salsa was salty. Chefs need to taste, adjust & approve before food is served. Mexican food is delicious, when made from the heart. read more
