The best smoked chicken I have ever had and I asked about the sides and the waitress recommended the Mac and cheese so I tried it and it was surprisingly very good then for dessert I tried the coconut fried pie I wasn't sure about this because all of their fried items are fried in beef tallow but as I tried the pie it turned to be one of the best fried pies I have had in years would definitely recommend this spot I am a very picky eater when it comes to bbq but this is a must try they were very busy so it took a little longer to get everything than I thought it should but it wasn't that bad so that's no problem read more

Cute little place conveniently off the highway. The staff was very friendly and attentive, and the food was fairly priced. We paid around $40 for two meals, drinks, and some delightful chocolate chip cookies. They don't serve alcohol but the sodas were cold and refreshing. The hogwild beans had a little heat to them but not a lot. The potato salad was really delicious. The jambalaya was a tad bland but still good. They were sold out of corn, so we got green beans; we did enjoy them, nice seasoning. The smoked sausage was great. No bbq sauce needed though I of course did add some. I liked the sweet bbq sauce the best. Again, the spicy sauce wasn't all that spicy. Maybe my tastebuds are just used to Thai spice! I'd definitely recommend checking out this place. read more

Quiet BBQ spot on Alma Hwy in Van Buren. Place is a hidden gem. The brisket and burgers were all prepared in house with house sauce and were some of the best we'd ever had. Oh. My. Gosh. This was a great find. Needed a quick lunch and wanted to try BBQ. This was it. So dang good. The brisket quesadilla did not disappoint. Neither did the loaded baked potato or the ribs- which my wife says weee the best ribs she's ever had. Brisket quesadilla with fresh jalapeños was incredible. It comes with pickled jalapeños but I recommend the fresh.

My husband and I stopped in Van Buren, AR for the night on our way to Albuquerque. We found JC's BBQ and boy are we glad we did. My husband got their rib plate and the ribs fell off the bone. He also got their Jambalaya which looked more like a gumbo than jambalaya. The flavor was good though and Cajun corn. It was ok. I had the double meat Swiss and mushroom burger. It was huge!!! I could only eat half and my side was homemade French fries. Delicious! We will definitely stop there again if we are ever in Van Buren. read more

This hole in the wall is worth the visit. The sides were great...green beans and fries with skin on. So good! They have a variety of sauces for your meal. The meats are TERRIFIC! Best BBQ I've ever had! Nothing else even comes close. Their own sauces (hot mild sweet) on the table are phenomenal. Food is fresh, large portions, and so delicious. What all BBQ places should hope to achieve. And the prices...insane! For what I would pay at a regular chain restaurant with sub par "bbq" for 3 people, I pay about 1/3 the cost here. Services was friendly, generous, answered all our questions, and I never ran out of a drink before another came without asking. Top-notch services. We were staying the night in Van Buren on our way back home and decided to try this place after doing an Internet search. We were quite pleased with the food and service. It's situated in a strip mall, but an employee told me that they are moving to a new, larger spot later this year. It looks like they were doing solid business in both the dine-in and take-out sides of the restaurant, so they should have no trouble filling up their new space. We ordered a kids meal with a burger, a dinner plate with smoked sausage, and a dinner plate with burnt ends. Our daughters liked the french fries that came with the burger. For our sides, my wife and I ordered coleslaw, jambalaya, fried okra, and potato salad. We tried both the spicy and mild bbq sauces. The burnt ends were the best part of my meal. They were just as good as one hopes for out of this part of the brisket - little bits of meat and fat with just the right amount of seasoning. They needed no sauce. However, I ate a few pieces with the spicy bbq sauce just to try it out. This spicy sauce appears to include both extra vinegar and black pepper to make it spicy. I'm not a fan of adding extra vinegar to make spicy sauce, but this time it worked thanks to the addition of black pepper. I ended up eating mouthfuls of potato salad with the spicy sauce; it was a surprisingly delicious combination. My wife ate most of the fried okra and the smoked sausage. She said that the cornmeal coating on the okra was the best part. The coleslaw and jambalaya were just okay. I've had better coleslaw at some bbq joints back home, but it wasn't too sweet and didn't include too much celery seed. My wife reported that the jambalaya didn't show signs of being made with much or any roux. We both noted that it doesn't show up much on the list of side dishes at bbq restaurants. read more

Found on google since we were in the area and it is worth stopping by. Everything was great. Ribs were fall off the bone tender. The smoked bologna was yo die for and the smoked sausage was some of the best. Brisket was top notch and pulled pork was high quality too. All the sides were great as well we had okra, baked beans, corns and fries and we were not disappointed. I prefer the sweet sauce but it was all good. Will definitely come back. It's just a bit off the beaten path, and you might miss it the first time you drive by, but you will be rewarded for your efforts with some excellent pork, beef and smoked sausage concoctions. Note first that the business doesn't face the road. It's on the right side as you drive between two small buildings. You'll know you made the right choice when your nose tells you "this is the place!" The family staff is friendly and very helpful. A man I am going to assume is JC came out and checked on everyone and couldn't have been more kind. We ordered the BBQ cheese fries and, being our Texas selves, gladly paid the upcharge for brisket. Also ordered the brisket quesadilla and the amazement known as the brisket dog (see pics) which is a smoked sausage on a bun, topped with a good helping of brisket along with caramelized onions and jalapeños. Mind you, a Texan is always apprehensive ordering brisket out of state. We know. Hate all you want. Nearly anyone can smoke pork. It takes skill to hit the sweet spot on brisket. We were not disappointed in that decision one bit. Nailed it. One more thing. If they haven't sold out, get the cajun corn side. Perfect compliment to the dog. Our only disappointment was that we forgot to try the homemade Cole slaw, which we read great reviews about. Oh well. At the suggestions of pretty much all of our friends, we decided to try out JC's Bar-B-Q Place on a Saturday early evening. Finding the restaurant could be a bit tough, but thankfully we were familiar with area. It was busy, but not crowded, which was good because seating is rather limited. I had the three meat plate with three sides (pulled pork, brisket, and sausage with corn, green beans, and baked beans) and my husband had The JC Sandwich (pulled pork, sausage, bacon) with a side of fries. Pulled pork and brisket were perfect! Moist and tender, but not mushy. I absolutely love that the brisket was sliced thick and not chopped. Also, I love that the meat didn't come pre-sauced. Their hot sauce is perfect and their special sauce was great with fries. We both were not a fan of the sausage though. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't outstanding either. All the sides were good, especially the fries. We finished with an apple and a coconut fried pies. They were delicious! I drove 45 minutes, on a Friday, to get their advertised Burnt End available on Friday and Saturday only. They were out of burnt ends. I ordered ribs and brisket combo plate. My 2 side choices were baked beans and jambalaya. I wouldn't order either of the sides again. Jambalaya was tasteless and the beans were pork n beans with very little sauce. They didnt seem like they had been warned up on the stove with a bit of sauce in them. Now on to what is supposed to be the star here...the bbq. Well its bbq with very little smoke flavor. I like pretty strong smokiness to mine. If you like a really mild smoke flavor this might be your place. The meat seemed like it had been soaked in juices forever...it was too moist. This place is fantastic. If you haven't tried this place yet, you are missing out. The side options are a little lacking and I am not overly fond of the limp fries. The meats are incredible and we always order extra sauce to take home for the leftovers. Enormous portions and child friendly options. The staff is very friendly. The only downside is the location.
