Shhhhh, this is a local gem! I had carne asada tacos and el pastor. The pineapple was such a great treat for a taco! My friend got the ramen dish (soup on a 100 degree day - not for me!) but she absolutely loved it. My other friend got the quesadillas with carne asada and sweet potato fries. They looked really tasty too! I have leftovers for lunch, and my parents asked me to bring home some for them too! Win - win! The restaurant is so cheery and lotteria themed. Sheesh, what a solid unexpected taco spot. There is a reason they are number 1 on door dash. I was in the Las Cruces area and wanted to find a place to get tacos. I saw this place was well rated on Yelp so I decided to give it a try. The place is very cute and decorated well, and the service was phenomenal as well. I was given a basket of chips and salsa when I first sat down, and my order only took a few minutes to come out after that (less than 10 minute total). I got the pastor tacos which come with 4 quesa tacos, pastor, pineapple, and cilantro and onions for $11-12. I enjoyed the meal but the pastor was overcooked and very greasy. It tasted good when I added the salsas on top, though, and the meal was very filling. Pastor tacos are my favorite so I was a bit disappointed given the high ratings but they were still fairly tasty overall. read more

El Vagon does your more traditional Mexican taco and they are all delicious! We got the small taco box with rice and beans, which easily fed 4 people. No notes, so good. It began to get crowded as we were leaving (Saturday at 12:30), but was nearly empty at noon. The atmosphere is so cute, and very open despite the size. Lots of bright colors, plants, and decor. Seating is a bit cramped but definitely tolerable. The birria was excellent - not too spicy, well flavored, and tender. Fresh ingredients make all the difference. 2 o'clock coming back from White Sands National Park and needed a quick stop to tie us over til dinner tonight, we or I decided tacos was the best idea. Also visiting from California, definitely needed to try New Mexican Mexican food if you get what I mean. Opened the door and instantly got hit with an amazing aroma of tacos! And a quick look saw a very cute interior (very IG worthy) and a few patrons already seated. We grabbed a table and I waited in line at the register to place an order only to find out that if you're eating in, then it's a full service restaurant. We ordered 2 plates of tacos, Pastor and Alambre (asada with bell peppers) and a Birria ramen for us 4 people to share (remember the idea to not get full but just to hold us til dinner), which was perfect cuz 1 order of tacos has 4 tacos. And this was the most delicious tacos I've had in a very very long time!! The bell papers in the Alambre really made the taco, elevating the basic asada. Pastor fully seasoned and with added pineapples! The Birria soup was well stewed, though a bit salty, which just encouraged us to down the Agua Frescas we ordered. 10/10 definitely would come back.
