Another great dining experience at this particular location. This is the first time we visited in several months mainly because we've been busy, but my family and I had a great experience. All of our food orders came out hot, fresh, and just like we requested. The fajita trio is loaded with meat, peppers, and onions. My burrito was filled with meat, and the queso was hot. Plus, the bowls of salsa add even more flavor. Our server was hit or miss on his English, but he did not hesitate to go get his manager to assist as needed. First time we've been really disappointed. Our Vallarta margarita, which historically had been amazing, tasted like watered down juice and the steak Vallarta was tough with no flavor. We ordered take out from El Vallarta's Gretna location this weekend so I can only speak for their food quality and not their restaurant service. For take out, I recommend online ordering as we never got someone to answer after calling 3 times during normal business hours. Overall, it was a decent meal, not the best Mexican food I've had but also not the worst. Their tacos and flour chips stole the show for us both in our opinion. I love the fried flour beef taco. Crunchy shell, flavorful meat, filled full with toppings. Their flour chips (which we paid extra for) were fresh, extra crispy and delicious! Well worth the couple dollars more. The salsa and guacamole were both good, just not something to write home about. The chicken enchiladas to me and my wife were on the dry side. The chicken was not as flavorful as we'd like. It needed lots of sauce and toppings to be enjoyable sadly. Lastly, my son's quesadilla and fries were both cold when we got home. I'd be willing to give El Vallarta another chance and maybe try some other menu options, but it probably won't be a take out spot we pick again. read more

When El Vallarta first opened it was great; service was amazing and food was great. It has since become horrendous all around. I walked in one time and the place reeked of sewer gas. The last time I went in with my two young daughters we went to the restroom halfway through our dinner and I told our waiter we would be right back and NOT to clear our table, that we were NOT done and he acknowledged me. We came back from the restroom and everything was gone. They offered to remake the food but we didn't have time for that as we had prior obligations to get to. El Vallarta is a great option for texmex. The service at lunch was slow, but there only seemed to be one server running around. Most recently I had the chimichanga. The lunch chimichanga is small, but it's really all you need. It comes with plenty of guac, and I'm not sure what was going on with the beans, but they are delicious! read more

This is my go to lunch spot when I'm working in Gretna. The service is always quick, and the food is delicious. I grab the mixed lunch fajitas with a margarita on the rocks every time. My wife loves their Mangonada margaritas with Tajin and Chamoy. We went with guacamole instead of cheese dip this visit, and it did not disappoint. The avocados were blended smooth with closed red onion and tomatoes. The fajitas are always seasoned nicely, and the lunch portion is enough for both of us. read more

First time here. Sat down and received menus at 2:25 PM. Lunch hour menu goes to 2:30PM. Waitress said we could have the lunch menu. However, by the time the 5 of us all ordered it was 2:32PM. Everyone was very happy with what they ordered (although the eggs in my huevos rancheros were hard). We only had a table of 4, when the bill came I didn't look carefully and just put in the normal tip amount for the total. Later on was looking through my receipts and saw that "Miguel" our server had already added 20% gratuity and I had given the additional tip on top Of that. We called the manager with the complaint and they said they would not refund the extra tip unless we went back to the restaurant in person! We even asked if sending a gift card for the tip amount could be an option and they said no. Now the manager is ignoring our calls. Obviously the customer is not their first priority and they're just trying to scam people of their money. No where does it say that gratuity will automatically be added to tables of 4 or more. Pretty good Mexican food. I ordered takeout and it was ready in 15 minutes for pick up. I got the Taco Jose, which has steak and chorizo in it. Excellent flavor and portion size. The tomatillo sauce that comes with it is very, very spicy. I used the salsa that comes with the chips instead. I didn't get to dine in this time, but will be dining in next time.
