We dined here on a Tuesday afternoon around 3:30pm. There were a few tables and about four people sitting at the bar. The interior was clean and bright. There was outside seating but we sat inside. We were seated promptly and the waitress came by soon after we got our complimentary chips and salsa. She was attentive and handled us and a big table of 10 just fine. The menu was huge so I'm sure there is something for everyone here. I wanted to try the Mexican street corn and the lettuce wraps but I decided I would do that another time. There were four of us and the bill was about $90. My sister in law had a vegetarian chimichanga and a margarita, her boyfriend had a sandwich, my husband got the chicken tacos, and I got the carne asada tacos The food came out really fast. All the Vaqueros are different and when we were going to Swan Creek, we needed lunch...and stopped in. This one is the prettiest and definately worth a visit. It's more romantic than the others. I'm not sure how this restaurant has the rating it does. My wife and sons went here tonight for the first time. The service was less than ideal and it wasn't busy. Waitress asked for our drink order and it went smoothly until she forgot two drinks. I drank my beer and had to go up to the bar to get another one because she disappeared. Wife said the margaritas were ok. We ordered 3 beef hard tacos with fries (ya I know who does that), veggie fajitas, margarita chicken and a chimichanga. The tacos were dry and awful (Taco Bell has better), the one son said he didn't mind the veggie fajitas (his taste in food doesn't expand far), my wife said the margarita chicken was dry and it was the worse beans and rice she ever had and my chimichanga was the smallest deep fried burrito I've ever had with the worst meat I've ever had. Also, they brought our food out and asked who had they steak fajitas? We're all like no one, so she takes it back and comes back with a veggie fajita and asked who had that. We ALREADY had all our food! I mean come on really? Needless to say we will not be returning. Now that's just our opinion and you may think differently. I however do not recommend this restaurant when there are so many better options in the area. read more

Personally, I don't much care for Mexican food but my grandson Jesse mentioned that he liked Mexican and we were out to celebrate his birthday so this place had a pretty good rating and we were not disappointed. Made a reservation for 630. They see us at 6:35 we had a wonderful waitress and the chicken fajita that my wife and I shared was great. The chips they put on the table was terrific, red dipping sauce was wonderful. My wife loved the guacamole so I got nothing but good things to say I had a sangria was delicious kind of around the table and then they brought Jesse a big round ball. I don't know what but for his birthday and they sang happy birthday to him was a great great experience and this is an easy five star. read more

If you didn't know already, the restaurant has remodeled inside! New booths, tables and chairs, and artwork! It looks amazing! My fiancé and I went for the Valentine's Day dinner and had truly the best experience. Service was 10/10! Our waitress was so prompt, kind, and welcoming! Not to mention, she took our full order and once and the food service was SO FAST! We had the valentines special which consisted of 2 margs, fajitas for two, and fried icecream for desert. We didn't get charged any up charges for modifications or flavors which is always a plus. The cashing out process was easy & the live music tonight for Valentine's was a great touch! We recently relocated to Ohio and had been looking for a good place to get Mexican food. We are so glad we found this place. The staff is friendly, efficient and helpful. The prices are very reasonable. We have been coming here for about 6 weeks, and on our last visit they had remodeled the restaurant. Its gorgeous inside! I hated the plexiglass that restaurants were forced to put up. Gone is the ugly plastic, but it was replaced with high backed booths, giving it a cosy, private feeling. The cheese dip is to die for and the fajitas are amazing. We haven't tried everything, but what we have had was very good. The consistency is appreciated, we always know we are going to get a great meal. Even when its packed, we get our food in a timely manner and its consistently delicious. read more

My husband and I came to this establishment on a road trip from Alabama to Michigan with our toddler. We have worked up quite the appetite and our little one was in need of some good food and fun. When we entered El Vaquero's, first thing we saw was a claw machine. Our son loves claw machines. The restaurant was clean and had a great vibe to it. When we sat down to order we were so happy to see they had such a long list of options for not only our little one but ourselves! I got the Birria Tacos and let me tell you, they are phenomenal! My husband was happy with his grande steak burrito as well. We visited on Memorial day and this was one of the few Mexican restaurants open in miles and they had great service to go with the great food. The food here is way overpriced, the salsa is very salty. They sure jacked up their prices during covid and now they're just still ridiculous. I ordered take out and the enchiladas were hard, I wouldn't even call them that I had never seen anything like that except in a Mexican TV dinner.. they forgot to include my guacamole but charge me for it I didn't realize it till I got home. It amazes me that they can get away with it but white people believe anything with lots of lettuce and sour cream on it and wash it down with a beer. We like the carnitas and Burrito Jalisco, but they do have a wide variety on the menu, including vegetarian and choice of sides, along with their many Mexican meal choices . Came in on a Saturday night around 7pm. 20 minute wait for a table for 2, but was able to sit right at the bar. Started with a Skinny margarita. Not sure what that means, but it was good, although small. Maybe that's why it's skinny. Had the Molcajete Ranchero. Damn was it good. Shrimp, chicken, steak and grilled veggies inside a molten lava bowl smothered with a Mexican chili and cheese. Only ate half of it. Had guacamole salad, sour cream, rice and beans on the side with tortillas. Guac was great! The skinny marg didn't last long, so I got a super huge Dosequis Amber and let the wife drive home. Service was ok. Bartender had a 'resting bitch face' and was much more pleasant than she appeared. She was also flying solo, so it took a bit longer to get our order in than I would have liked, but everything moved quickly thereafter. She was able to bring us chips and salsa. I think the chips were homemade. They were huge for tortilla chips, but didn't taste like anything special. Salsa was very good, very tomatoey. Stopped on way to BGSU. Great find. San Diego burrito was good but smaller than one would think a burrito should be. The enchilada supreme has four healthy enchiladas beef, chicken, cheese and beans. My son, the Carnitas Expert, said his carnitas were great he had FIVE big chunks of pork. Good portion with compliments of rice and beans. My pick three consisted of chicken tamale, beef enchilada and carnitas taco. Also complimented with rice and refried beans that were perfect. Not runny and textured perfectly. We had a healthy side of guacamole. Only one issue. Server was very friendly but we felt rushed. We had our check half way through dinner. This place boasts "Authentic Mexican Cuisine". It might look Mexican but it has NO FLAVOR! You can smother it in salsa, but the salsa is nothing more than tomato sauce. I come to Perrysburg once a month for business and I always stop here for one of my meals. The food is very good and the atmosphere is better than most restaurants in the area. The pricing is moderate on both the food and the bar. Service is above par and I never leave wanting more food. I don't know what more you could want from any restaurant. There are so many Tex-Mex restaurants in Toledo and they all seem to use the same food and same HUGE menus. I expected the same going to El Vaquero. It was a bit odd when we told the hostess how many in our party and she went on the intercom and in Spanish, announced how many of us and where we were seated. If it were busy then this would have made sense however everyone was wearing ear pieces so the announcement over a loudspeaker is unnecessary throughout your dining experience. I think this communication only worked well on the show "M.A.S.H". with Radar making announcements as Hawkeye and BJ ate in the mess tent. It was also weird when I made a dumb joke to the buss person and he looked at me confused and ran off. (I thought my jokes were funny). OK then... Now they are part of a chain and I have not dined at the others, so this is for the Perrysburg, Ohio location only. I have heard some of the other locations arent as good. I probably will not find out because I will frequent this one location for now. Reluctantly I opened the menu and then surprised, I saw some very nice looking and tempting dishes on the menu. I ordered all of their tacos pictured of the menu. Barbacoa de Res,Barbacoa de Cochinito, and de Pollo Marinado Mexican style. It is nice to have tacos with Cilantro and diced onion instead of shredded lettuce, and tomato. Please don't ask me which taco I preferred because I loved them all!! I also ordered a side of rice which was typical Mexican restaurant fare. The margaritas were very good close to perfect for a local Tex-Mex. Other information; You automatically get salsa and chips. The chips are fresh and warm and the salsa is OK a tiny bit better then most places. I haven't eaten here in years because I didn't think it was that good. We were in the area and decided to stop in for a Margarita. I ordered a pitcher for my husband and I to share. We each got 3.5 glasses out of it and I am terribly full of liquid with zero buzz! Worst Margaritas ever. Not only that but there is no music or anything and the staff have been messing with the blender in front of me to make themselves fruit smoothies for an hour. It keeps over heating and shutting off so ever 2 seconds brzzzzzzzzzz. Is all the ambience I have experienced here. No music no sound on the TV just non stop blender for staff drinks. I am never coming back and I don't know why anyone else would either... The bartender seems equally annoyed with the blender use by the staff as I am. read more

We got El Vaquero via grubhub and we were impressed. I got the ensalada tropical salad without pineapple and my husband got the nachos supreme. Both were very good and large portions (we had leftovers). The cheese dip was also very good. The chips were not bad though I wouldn't say they were notable. This restaurant has been my favorite for many years but when I went over the weekend, I was very disappointed and will be looking for a New Mexican restaurant. We saw our waitress for a total of maybe 3 mins in the one hour we were there. We ordered the guacamole appetizer, she brought out a tiny side and left. We wanted the large one so we could share with the group of 4. Then we placed our orders. The brown rice was SO hard and chewy, it clearly had just been sitting out forever. Next, the quesadillas we got were probably filled 40%, the rest was just tortilla. A guy delivered the food to our table but the waitress didn't drop off any cutlery or refill our waters. We had to hunt down staff to get us these items. I would have said something that day but we were hosting guests and I didn't want to make a sense. Very bad service and awful food. When paying our bill, we saw another customer complaining about several things. They weren't even busy that night. Saturday around 8pm. This place sucks, avoid at all costs. I can put up with alot, however I can't put up with stale chips, some chips were soggy..soggy. Like they were recycled from another customer basket. Got the bean dip and that was fair to good, however the salsa they gave you had absolutely no taste and was half frozen. Hopefully they get the address updated because this is at /north/ Dixie Highway, which means it's by Churchill's etc. One of my favorite spots to visit when I visited my parents. Usually I try different things at a restaurant. Not very often here - I found our favorite, the burrito Jalisco, and I'm sticking by it. All that melted cheese, the mouth-watering meats, the delicious combination of veggies...perfection. Chips and Salsa while you wait, wonderful corn chips and housemade salsa (watch out - how spicy it is depends on who made it and how well they stirred it!).
