I was in desperate need of a relaxing pedicure on my self care day and decided to visit Elan Beauty Bar since I was in the area and the reviews looked so great - so glad that I did! Elan is located inside of a quiet shopping plaza in Duluth. Although there's parking for everyone, you may have to walk down a sidewalk or two to get to your preferred biz, but you'll make it. My first impression was 5-stars because it's truly a beautiful salon! Bright with natural lighting and fabulously decorated, it definitely passed the visual vibe checks. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was welcomed in by two young ladies at the front counter who quickly set me up at a pedicure station.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There are three parts to the salon and I was in the middle section and it was so quiet, even with other customers in the area. I hate that I didn't get my nail tech's name, but she was so great. I went with the 3rd tier pedicure which including a hot towel, scrub, etc. etc. No corners were cut, I was so relaxed! I opted for a pretty bubblegumish pink for my toes and she really made my feet look fabulous and renewed. After my pedicure package, gel removal and tip, I walked out paying under $100 and in this economy and with the level of service and class, I took that as a deal. I have been coming to Elan for about 3-4 years (since they first opened) for a monthly gel pedicure. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I have seen several nail techs but Ms. Cookie is hands down the best. She is thorough, meticulous with her work and just an overall beautiful and kind woman.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The salon is very clean, bright and relaxing and the services are comparable to other salons in the area and the prices are affordable ($50 for the basic gel pedicure with add in options ie rose petals and coconut milk in the water etc if desired for an upgrade). Haven't been this happy with my nails in years. I got used to taking care of my own mani/pedi at home, but or course, it's never the same as having it professionally done by a technician! My sis and I both got regular pedi & gel mani and both technicians/artists did a fantastic job: my sis got an abstract nail design for each of her nails while I stuck with the classic solid color in Press Pause by Essie, which happened to be the very same color that my own artist (named Mai) had her gel done. Unbeknownst to her, watching her work with my feet & hands while her gorgeously colored gel mani stayed intact was what got me convinced to finally try my first gel manicure at today years old. Side note: (see photos for reference) Essie's regular polish (non-gel) for the color Press Pause has more of a light blue undertone compared to the gel polish (mani). Just a heads up in case you're looking to match exact colors between a gel and non-gel polish. I actually like the slight difference in undertone! Both are very pretty :) I really liked Mai as she kept conversation light & interesting, while also allowing for time to pass when I needed to read on my phone. She knows how to read a room. Came to get a pedicure with my wife. Best experience I've ever had at a nail salon. The best was very clean and inviting. The staff was super friendly and nice. My tech talked me into getting the CBD pedicure. It was so relaxing. I have really bad peeling on my heel and the cleaned by dry skin so well it felt like a baby's bottom. This salon is new to the area and provides an upscale pampering experience! I made a same day reservation online via yelp and when i arrived at the salon i was greeted promptly served. They are compliant with COVID social distance practices and i was asked to sanitize my hands and pick a color. The salon was not at all crowded and i was seated in an area to myself with my nail tech also wearing a face mask. I did the spa pedicure with milk and rose petals and it was wonderful. My nail was wonderful i didn't get her name but the service left me feeling nice relaxed and with pretty toes and not to mention the complimentary mimosa they offered. I used to be a part time nail technician throughout high school and college for about 3-5 years on and off, working at one of the busiest salons in Midtown Atlanta. So I am very particular about my nails... I pay attention to the the shape of every finger, thickness, and how close to the cuticle they can get the color without getting it on my skin- because all these factors were things that I used to practice for my clients to ensure their nails would last 2+ weeks. There's been so many times where I've ended up just doing my own nails because of (1) I always come back regretful and disappointment of the service I've received or (2) I don't want anyone to have to put up with my own pickiness lol Now, I've finally found someone WAY more skilled than me, and honestly any nail technician I've ever met. I've been coming to Elan for about two months now, and have kept a photo gallery of every time I've gotten my SNS done. Jennifer has over a decade of experience, and it truly shows. Every time I get my nails done, I so impressed at how beautiful she is able to make them look. All my nails look so uniform, the shape is perfect, the thickness is natural-looking, and the color is PERFECTLY ROUNDED around my cuticles. They have a large variety of colors for any season or trend. The salon follows COVID-19 guidelines. All customers are required to wear a mask, get their temperature checked by the front desk, and are instructed to wash their hands upon entering the salon before being seated. All employees also wear masks and customers are seated far apart from one another. I can't believe I've finally found a nail salon and a nail technician that I trust like Jennifer. I get sooo many compliments on my nails.. every time I get my nails done, my co-workers always ask to see my hands again. I can't recommend this salon enough! Made an appointment for my two girlfriends and I to get our nails done before our trip. I asked to do a design and they told me that one of the worker can do it. She did my pedicure and stabbed me couple times.. She looked at the picture and told me she can do it. She cut down my nails and didn't even file them and just put tips on. Midway I noticed she did French on all my nails and that was not what I asked for. I also reminded her couple times to look at the picture and if she remembers. We were going on 2.5 hours already so I did not have any more time to waste to fix the problem. My lash appointment don't even take that long! I wanted a deep French and I definitely did not even get that.. my fingers were all sticky with gel and my cuticles are all stuck. My friend got SNS as well and her nails was a short already but her nail tech filed it down way too much. The shape is uneven as well. I saw so many positive reviews that I knew I had to stop in and see about it. I got the Élan mani/pedi and gel on my hands and toes. Thuy did my nails and they are wonderful. She even came up with the idea to put a white coat of nail polish under the color I chose so they would be more opaque. I had a few chips and snags in my nails and she maneuvered around them well and shaped my nails expertly allowing me to keep my nails. Tina did my feet and when I say I left with happy feet I'm not exaggerating. She was so meticulous and gentle. I definitely recommend the Élan pedicure, as the hot stone manicure was amazing. This place is a prime example of how everything depends on who you get. The place itself is super clean, pretty, well maintained, etc. it's one of those places you would find on Instagram/Pinterest. BUT the nail technician I had were everything but the above. I saw other customers being offered water, bathroom, etc., I was not. Nonetheless, that didn't bother me because whatever, those things are not what I paid here for. What bothered me was I showed her a picture of a square-ish shaped nail, which she gave me very slanted shaped nails. You'd look at my nails and think, "why are her nails all pushed to the left?!" I have no answer for you. They were "squared", but really rhombus (bring your geometry game). Secondly, I had gel nails without tips. She had the gels a bit too above from my nail bed so they looked like my nails had already grown a lot. As if I got these done weeks ago. Finally, WITHOUT fake tips, why did I pay more than the stated amount on the website service price? Again, I don't have an answer for you. Maybe if you get someone who listens to you, is "better", and can explain the charges to you accurately, this could be a place for you. But as my first visit here, not too great. the space is clean and modern which I love but I booked appointments for my mom and me and we asked my nail tech and my moms nail tech if they could do a flower on our nails and she said yes, my nail was good and the flowers were good my moms however was messy and looked awful even asking her to re-do it. The bestttttt nail place EVER!!! I absolutely love it here. I stumbled across this place in need of a new nail salon for my pedicures due to being highly disappointed at my other place and booked an appointment and went on in. The atmosphere and ambiance of this place is so peaceful. You immediately feel welcomed and comfortable. They take your temperature at the door and have you wash your hands which is awesome when it comes to COVID preventative measures. They have a wide range of selections when it comes to types of manicures and pedicures, add ons, other beauty services, and colors, which I like. Everything is completely sanitized and has its own little pouch. Also note, the pedi basins are regular tubs and do not have jets inside but honestly, I like that given that jets hold on to a lot of bacteria. I've only been here twice but I will definitely be going back. This past Saturday I was serviced by Beverly and she was absolutely amazing, sweet and thorough and did an excellent job with shaping my toenails and polishing. Probably the most pleased I've ever been with a pedicure. Everything was nice as far as interior however my nails took almost 3 hours.firstly I appreciate the staff however, I do not appreciate the upsale of sns. Which initially I asked for regular acrylic and gel. The girl kinda forced me into getting sns. Afterwards the girl let me know to not do too much as my nails would break. Why would my nails break doing everyday activities. I pay up to 120$ for my nails and tip well. I did not tip because service took wayyyy to long the design was not complicated. Even so they came out beautiful it has been 1 1/2 weeks and pretty much all my nails have broken. I had to go up there twice for my nails messing up. I even recommended friends after and they said they passed on the free manicure because it took too long. Sorry to say beautiful place but does not equate to service. I was very nervous because it's such drastic procedure to do to your face, but when it was done, I was truly amazed how realistic and perfect they looked. You are tripping!! Let me tell you this! I am a very picky person, also a cheapskate (fact). Im not going to let someone do my nails and spend a penny on it if it's not worth it. Plus i have a really busy schedule, yeah, cause lucky me still have a job during this rough time. I have been going there since their soft opening. I was impressed with the design and decorations. The staff were very nice and professional.They really took their time to listen to my request. They patiently waited for me to pick my nail color. They carefully work on the designs just to make sure i was happy with it. They might take a little bit long but it didn't bother me at all. I prefer an hour or more than a messy job. I used to pay about the same price at a different nail salon and totally disappointed. My nails came off after 8 days. The first time I was there, I didn't expect my nails (SNS) would last up to 16 days. So I keep going there and never try another nail salon since then. By the way, I tipped because someone had provided me a service. That's the way I was educated. However, the tip is high or low depending on how satisfied I am with the services. Please put yourself in someone else's shoes. You get what you give.
