    Elderly experience

OK, I went here because my boyfriend is a guitar maniac. That being said there was a lot to see and it was worthy of exploring. It is a virtual museum of acoustical instrumentation through the ages. Downstairs is a worthy repair shop with knowledgeable experts that were evaluating and reselling instruments. Folks were coming for more than a hours drive to have their artifacts evaluated and resold. Upstairs were lots of other little cubbyholes featuring old and new instruments. And one room where my boyfriend was lost in a dark hole of guitargasms (his word) for over an hour and a half. That room featured the most elaborate and beautiful and exclusive guitars. Elderly is known as being an A+ place to purchase respected and well evaluated instruments. They arrive safely even if shipped across the country. Worthy of your investigation.

This guitar shop deserves the reputation it has. Great selection of instruments and their service department is very professional.

There are a precious few "destination" shops in the country: Gruhn's, a couple in NYC, LA and Vegas.

One of the antiques is the fellow who works here who is certainly not someone you want to depend on if you're in a hurry. He is a sweet old man who always has the time for an impromptu chat about this or that and he has a vague idea where you might find that or this in this store. It's very cramped and difficult to walk through, let alone find anything specific in, but it's so very interesting. Inventory keeps piling in, quite literally, and I don't think I've ever used, literally, so appropriately. I found some openly racist anthropology ("South American Redskins") from the early 20th century, and some truly vintage racist (and racial) legal text from a little bit earlier ("People of color property issues" and yes, that's the origin of the allegedly open minded euphemism, segregation law), sheet music from the Roaring Twenties, Shakespeare annotated meticulously two generations ago by a theater professor, a photography coffee table book from Post-War (World War II) Japan - the era when my father met my mother in rebuilt Hiroshima. There's a fascinating cramped filing cabinet full of antique postcards and while I was there a Korean War veteran and his middle aged adult daughter found a WWII era post card that had been sent to a relative (penny stamp affixed) from Europe. If you're the sort of person who thinks that rummaging through a museum warehouse or a restricted archive would be fascinating or an antique book collector (either a collector of old books, or an old collector of books) this is a must-see one hour destination.

They have a Starbucks cafe located inside the Store also which I go straight to once I'm inside which I order a iced mocha latte shake (gotta try it out)!! I usually walk around browsing there Books while sipping on my shake they do have tables an chairs if you prefer looking to order a slice of cheesecake. Being able to sit an eat in the stores cafe allows you to read a few pages outta your Book you got with you as well. The Customer Service is great here they always got folks working that know there Books they know exactly where to look for a title fast if asked which is Helpful. This B&N is as well connected to the Lansing Mall which is very convenient for shoppers an wanting to checkout another store or grab a bite to eat without having to leave an drive to another location. Like for example if its a rainy day or theres a snowstorm during the Winter you won't have to go outside nor drive to the next store. I highly recommend this Barnes & Noble Store to everyone living locally or that are just passing thru on the nearby Interstate.

Every other place that showed them in stock actually didn't have it when I called. The Music Manor checked and they did in fact have one, the only one in the lower 48. I called, I asked a lot of questions and they never got annoyed. Before purchasing it I expressed my hesitation regarding shipping delays and possible damage during shipping since this was the only one and it is a gift for Christmas. I made the purchase and these guys exceeded my expectations on every level. I paid online, they shipped it UPS the following day with signature required. It arrived on my door step the day after that. It was faster than I expected and packaged with so much protection that it would have survived a war zone! Thank you Music Manor for patience, professionalism and all around excellent customer service. People you can shop online with these guys without hesitation! Thanks again for helping making Christmas 2023 a memorable one!
