If I could give a zero rating I would. I was just about to go to my appointment and was 11 minutes late, ok my bad. The receptionist informed me I was 15 min late and therefore my appointment was cancelled. I advised I was 11 minutes late. She asked had I filled out the new patient form. I had spoken to someone on their staff about a week ago and specifically asked about whether I needed to email them this form. "Oh no, you just need to send your medical card and DOB" which I did. The attitude of the woman on the phone was really poor and I recall when I initially made my appointment, she had the same vibe, as if they were doing me a favor, vs. being a business that depends on their patients. I told her to forget it and I'd find another dentist. I'm not going to support a business who can't figure out that their front office staff's attitude turns people off. I vote with my feet and my pocketbook. I had read other reviews where people had remarked that the front office were extremely rude, but dismissed it because Dr. Eldon's overall rating was high. A very awkward first meeting. This is a gross office. I got there 15 minutes early because it was my first time here and I knew I would have to fill out paperwork and I still saw the dentist 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment. After my cleaning the dentist stated that they would have to check my insurance and what they would cover because I needed SO MUCH work done. You think they would do that prior to my free cleaning?! After my cleaning ( which TBH my teeeth don't feel as clean as other dentist have left them) the dentist said if we don't call you, call us. WTF?! Call you??? They need a lesson in customer service.... Or maybe they just don't need a gay POC customer. Most unpleasant experience I have had in the 10 years in San Francisco. read more

IF YOU NEED CROWNS STAY AWAY from here! I had been there for more than 1 year to fix my tooth and everything was fine until my bad experience of 2 crowns that have done from Dr Yang and I complained my gums around those crowns makes me uncomfortable all the times, they are very easily to caught food inside which makes my gums very uncomfortable. They kept telling me everything looks fine and I just need to floss more, so I just let it that way until in less then 2 years 1 of the crown had cavities and I have to get an implant, so I switch to a different Dentist because I don't trust him anymore. I have some crowns and they all last more than 10 years!!!! And a couple years later my other crown which also from dr Yang had just fell off!!!! I'm still very upset that I have to go through another implant. read more

AVOID!! Very dishonest, they ask you to do unnecessary procedures just because your insurance will pay. They are not upfront about charges. They billed a scheduled procedure as "emergency" which means insurance rejected their claim (even though they promised us they preapproved). The woman on the phone refused to acknowledge their mistake and send us the bill anyway. Woman on the phone is very unprofessional. If you visit, expect to get a bill in the mail after no matter what they tell you. read more

Wow just got dropped by this dentist in the rudest way! Got an email confirmation of my appointment, checked it this morning, headed in and showed up only to be told that the appointment was for a different time. Even after seeing my confirmation email they insisted I wait 45 minutes for the person after me to be seen first. Even though I wasn't late. As an aside when I was leaving they told me they would be out of network next year and no longer covered by my insurance. read more

Don't worry about scheduling, pain control, financials, or customer service, because he does a great job at it all. I've had about four dentists in my life, and he's easily the best one. Dr. Young is a hummer! I've been seeing Dr. Young since he began practicing dentistry and was just a kid. He bought the practice from Dr. Pine when it was located nearby Dr. Young's new and gorgeous office, complete with a massage chair. A few years ago I somehow thought he had moved his office to the east bay. I have no idea how this happened, mayhaps a dream I had as I am a lively and loud dreamer, but I (of course) saw another not-so-good dentist for that period (eventually I'll Yelp him), a dentist whose office was very hard sell on 'extra' services. They were so good at the sales part that I ended up doing things -- and paying the big bucks for them -- that I'd never had done otherwise. Dr. Y is a careful, considerate, gentle, wonderful dentist, and his staff is spectacular. Ellen is as nice as nice can be, and her dental work (she just polished my teeth yesterday) is excellent. Joanna is smart and cool, and injects a youthful vitality to the space (not that Dr. Young and Ellen are in any way old, mind you). I have always been seen 100% on time, and even a little early when I arrive early, despite the fact that Dr. Young has a vast clientele. Also, and this is important, Dr. Young will not push 'extra' services on you, and he serves his clients very well. I feel very cared for, and, oh yeah, I just love the way Dr. Young hums under his breath as he works on your mouth. read more

It's a long, winding and scary ride, the rollercoaster of HMO dentistry. The kind that u really want to end. Fast. That said, enter Eldon Young's peaceful Oasis of calm & care. A small practice, nested in the easy going Inner sunset. Top notch technology, knowledgeable and very caring staff, and an overall nurturing atmosphere based on true health care service and respect. Did I mention the beautiful and soothing view of the garden from each office chair? And sweet Joanna at the front desk? Eldon knows his sh#$. He's confident, gentle, and remains very calm. A peaceful warrior. ;-) I really like his full disclosure approach: he tells you what's going on, play by play, so you're not left hanging there wondering what's happening in the trenches (a.k.a. your mouth). It's like a small boutique spa for your mouth yet to be discovered by many. This is the first time I got to pick a dentist as an adult and got a new job with new benefits. I said goodbye to my childhood dentist and needed to find one in SF. I made an appt over the phone and the receptionist sounded so sweet and nice, she also calls you if an earlier space opened up due to another patient canceling. The office is conveniently located right off of the N-Judah line and since it's in a quiet neighborhood, street parking should not be really hard. The office looks really really new and you can tell it's a converted house in a residential neighborhood. The waiting room and medical areas are spotless and light fills the whole office. A little water fountain bubbled water out producing a SPA-like environment. I LOVE that each dentist station has a little TV angled perfectly so I can watch TV while the staff does whatever they need to do. The dental assistants are really nice and skilled. Since I was a new patient, they had to take tons of Xrays....it's all digital- very high-tech compared to my old dentist office. Dr. Young was really friendly and talkative however he only saw me for about 5 mins to do an exam, since he found no cavities (score!) - he quickly went back to another patient and handed me over to the hygienist. Is it totally crazy that I'm looking forward to coming back for my 6 month check-up....?! read more

I've been going to see Dr. Young since I was three? Pretty much when I was old enough to climb into that chair I've been seeing him for all my dental work. He filled in my fillings when I was 7, pulled out all my teeth for braces at 11 and recently I've had to see him for several cavities :( I told him I had nightmares recently about seeing the dentist which is weird because I am so used to him but he was super understanding, gave me nitrous and just chatted with me. Dr. Young is super easy to talk to his staff like Ellen is ultra friendly! I love this location much more than the old one because you don't have to climb a huge flight of stairs or use a super dark hallway bathroom like the old office. The place is newly remodeled with a relaxing view of a garden and a television up top. The bathrooms are also super clean. Overall, great dentist and I don't think I would switch until he retires :) read more

I really like that he explained what he was doing to me. He's got decent beside manner The office is very clean and bright. I'm taking off one star because the cleaning hurt my gums and there was still some staining after he was done with the cleaning. I've found my dentist! I went today for a routine cleaning and have no issues with my teeth, but I was really impressed with my experience. Dr. Young -on time and efficient -easygoing personality and easy to talk to (and he doesn't ask questions while your mouth is full of cleaning tools) -explains everything as he goes -gives suggestions (floss more often) without making you feel like a failure -actually performs most of the procedures himself unlike many of my past experiences with dentists (everything but the xrays and the polishing which was performed by the pleasant and professional dental hygienist Office -up to date equipment (they had tools for cleaning I've never seen elsewhere in addition to everything I've seen before) -relaxing view of a backyard garden from the dental chair -clean and comfortable environment My teeth feel squeaky clean. AMAZING! I'm so happy with my new dentist! The last experience I had with a dentist, believe it or not, was the ONLY bad dentist I've ever had in my LIFE! he was rough, mean, rude, and rushed. Dr Young was the opposite! He was super nice and comforting. During the appointment, he kept checking in to make sure I was doing fine, and had a very professional, yet kind demeanor. I've had a history of negative experiences (several traumatizing) with dentists ever since I was a child which has always been a large deterrent for me from getting regular dental exams. It's really sad how psychologically scarring some dentists can be just because they don't realize how their demeanor and attitude can affect their patients. It took me some time doing research on Yelp to really find a dentist that would do a great job with my teeth and also really change my outlook on dental visits. I can honestly say, this was the first time in my life I have EVER had such a positive visit and left the office feeling excited for my next appointment. I entered the office and the first person to greet me was Dr. Eldon Young himself. He gave off a very warm and approachable aura and already I felt at ease. I was seen right away upon finishing my insurance forms and he was very thorough and explained the procedures he was going through and what they were for. Afterward, he gave me different options I could decide on to move forward with my specific situation. Throughout this whole process, he was very patient and reassuring which made me feel a lot more comfortable in the space. He came off very genuine in showing how much he cares for his work and practice. Just as other reviews say, Dr. Young's staff are awesome. The receptionist (ahh I can't remember her name unfortunately) was very welcoming and answered any questions I had. Also, Erica, the dental hygienist, was amazing! During my cleaning, she checked in with me every now and then to make sure I was fine and not experiencing any discomfort and she kept up such a positive energy throughout the whole process. I was totally shocked by the results of her cleaning too! It was a huge before and after difference, leaving me very satisfied with my smile again walking out of their office. I quit my job recently and decided to make use of the work benefits by getting all of my doctor appointments done. Thankfully, Yelp made it easier. I used my provider's website to search for nearby doctors then entered their names into Yelp! I seemingly found the perfect dentist just 4 blocks away. I love living in the city! Everything about the appointment was superb. I called to make the earliest appointment for a general exam and cleaning. I haven't been to a doctor in 10+ years. I filled the form and was called in soon after. A very friendly and professional girl took an x-ray, measured my gums, cleaned my teeth with an ultrasonic tool, picked at my teeth with a metal hook some more, and even taught me how to floss correctly (I don't floss regularly). The doctor checked the x-rays, inspected my teeth, and informed me that I have no major problems and that I have the option to remove my wisdom teeth since they are impacted and food can get stuck in it causing an infection. All of that was completed so quickly and professionally that I had time to tear down two pieces fried chicken at a nearby KFC, ruining my polished teeth. read more

I've been meaning to write a review for some time and after about 9 months I finally remembered. I'll keep this short since many of the details are already documented. As far as dentists go and to me, the most important quality is customer service and concern for the customer. This place really cares about you and it shows. I actually drive up from Fremont to go here and I won't go into details but I wouldn't if they weren't compassionate and concerned for my health and well-being. He maybe had a busy day when I did appointment for dental check-up. I am a new patient, I really like Dr. Eldon of being honest but the approach he had with me during check up is kinda down lifting(I am so lucky I am high-spirited person, who can take any sort of this, too bad for people who aren't like this). After the series of questions which most of them I answered and fill it up on the questionnaire, then checking my mouth for few minutes with hearing his deep breath and uncheerful eyes while looking at my each tooth. He then said there's a lot of things need to be done to my mouth but he have no room for today for me, which I know at the beginning. He is really good on discouraging new patient. My mouth is not that monsteriously bad, and it is not worst of all of mouth in the world. I just need professional advice. I just need a path from him step by step to revive my mouth and just ending up wasting my hour of check up and just came back to my usual ibuprofen for my aching jaw,. Hopefully by Monday, I feel better for my next appointment where has time. read more

Saw this dentist for the first time 6 months ago in November for dental cleaning and everything went okay. I had booked an appointment for 6 months later in May for regular scheduled cleaning. That day comes and I arrive on time for my scheduled appointment only to hear that my appointment was not scheduled at all. Even after showing proof to the receptionist, she said my appointment was probably deleted at one point. I had never received any notice or call of the cancelation. Needless to say Ill be finding somewhere else for my dental needs. read more

Great staff, minimal waiting times. I'm obsessed with flossing. It's ridiculous. I like to have a little box of floss with me everywhere I go and in every room in my house. I really like to floss while I watch tv. Sometimes I even think about flossing during sex (no, you sickos, not flossing like that...) Dr. Young has been my dentist for since I was in grade school (~10 years) and I couldn't be any happier with his dental care services. His new building on Judah St. is a nice upgrade from his previous location. He's funny and professional and he does a great job of tending to your teeth. Everyone in my family visits him for dental care. And the dental assistants are all very nice. Joanna and Ellen are both nice and they make the experience feel as painless as possible. And what's not to like about the flat screen tv while you wait for Dr. Young to come to you in the chair? I only see him twice a year, but he's so great, I wouldn't mind visiting if I had to do fillings, etc. 5 stars FTW! read more

Dr. Young is the BEST dentist I have ever been to. Him and his staff are extremely kind and professional. He worked very well with me and my nervousness. I honestly never felt more relaxed going to a dentist to have work done. He took his time with me to make sure I was not in pain. He started my appointment exactly on time, he never overbooks. His patients seem to mean a lot to him. His assistants are also extremely kind and caring, making sure you are never in pain or discomfort. You can relax in your own area of the room and watch whatever you like on TV. When drilling for cavities, Dr. Young made sure to take a break every 30-seconds or so to let me relax my jaw, and check-in on whether or not I was in any pain or not. When giving me my shots, he gives you a smaller initial shot to numb the area, and a few minutes later gives you the rest of shots - at which point you cant feel the shots anymore. I'm not sure what else to say besides that he is really the best dentist I have ever been to. Thank you Dr. Young & staff!!! read more
