It's convenient if you live in Eldorado, but the selection is often so-so, the prices are often higher than they should be, and the quality of the produce in particular is frequently poor. I wish new management or an entirely new grocery store would locate in the Agora. read more

I have been doing the majority of my shopping at Eldorado supermarket for me and my family, who have lived in Eldorado for 30 years. I am in my late 40's. Every week when I come in, I have been carded by the same 2 cashiers every single time. They know good and well that I am of age, as I show my ID to them with no complaints, when they persist to card me. I was ok, with it, up until this week, when on my way to a potluck, I was carded and my drivers license was one week expired, and I was refused a purchase of tobacco and a bottle of wine. I have spent $5000 on groceries at the Eldorado supermarket, every year for the last 15 years. I understand the responsibility of serving alcohol being a bartender throughout my 20's and 30's. In the service industry we would have local patrons who would come in every day...I wouldn't dare card them knowing good and well they were of age, because I wanted to treat them with a bit of personal respect, knowing they were of value to the business. I have seen these two same cashiers refuse sales to elderly people in their 70's multiple times for expired or worn drivers licenses ( which by the way are still a valid proof of identification of age), and it is extremely poor customer service to adhere to these practices. The fine for selling alcohol or tobacco to persons obviously of age, whose DRIVING license is a few weeks expired is insignificant compared to losing $5000 per year in business due to a power tripping cashier. The first manager I spoke to, did not care about my plight and told me " since you were a bartender you should know", well I'm telling YOU the management of Eldorado supermarket, you have lost not just my business, but the business of several other friends in their 70's who do not want to be harassed when we spend thousands at your store every year for years on end! Teach your cashiers and management about when it is appropriate to card an obvious adult, and when it is not appropriate! But your cashiers should cater to your valuable patrons, not make them feel unwelcome due to technicality of little significance! read more

The Supermart is really convenient for local residents who want to avoid a 15 mile trip into Santa Fe. I do most of my shopping in Santa Fe, but I'm always running here for something I forgot. Prices are a bit upscale, but it's understandable since its partner stores (John Brooks) are pretty far apart. Good wine selection. Disappointed recently when they stopped carrying certain brands of products I like. But it doesn't deserve the one star reviews on here. read more

This is why rural, small markets are failing. Completely disorganized. For example flax powder could be in 3 places. Clamato could be in two places. Worchestershire sauce could be in 4 places. Nothing is logical. Meat service is non-existent (rude too) and unhelpful. They don't even know when their deliveries are and blew me off when I asked what day they get their soup bones in. Their cashiers are really nice and very friendly---rare these days. No one is ever attending the customer service area where they sell hard liquor, lotto tickets, money orders. You wait forever. That has gotta be hurting sales----of course, they'll never know. Ugly, ugly little market with OUTRAGEOUS pricing on most items. Decent wine and beer selection, but you won't find anything exotic here for those recipe ingredients. For example, i needed cardamon seeds---no go. Market serves several thousand people in El Dorado. Why on earth can't they remodel this store and make it like a downscaled Whole Foods ambiance---this is common throughout the country and it's simple. You just change the lighting and strip the tack linoleum out and acid stain/seal the floor. Could be a great little market. Instead it's a cash cow for them. read more

Not happy with the prices. I drive the 15 miles into town to do my weekly shopping. If they lowered their prices to be competitive with Trader Joe's or Sprouts, they may get my business and that of many other Eldorado residents. I hear a lot of people say that they don't shop there due to the high prices. read more

Putting out food that is well past it's expiration date. I called the manufacturer of a product as I have decided shopping at this store could cost my health. Wanting to find that product at another store. The manufacturer stated that the code I had given them was 2 years out of date and at that time they discontinued the product. May 2015. 6 months frozen and only 5 days on the shelf. Today is May 20, 2017. Manufacturer suggested not to eat it. I called the store supervisor, he blamed it on the supplier. Said, I could get my money back!!!! What on 2 years of buying the product. Also they have put out many things expired past date Turkeys and labeling fish as different kinds of fish charging different prices for the same fish!!!!!!!! When I asked the deli people how long is the Ham going to be fresh or good as I NOTICE IT WAS AT THE END OF THE HAM CHUNK, WAS TOLD 7 DAYS, SLIMY AND SMELLED IN 3 DAYS! High employee turnover suggest bad management and no integrity. Sad as our community could use a good store but this store is garbage! Will drive the extra miles to get better products. FYI Food King has much better prices on Alcohol. Time to encourage a new grocery store to come here. Had also sent a message to head office over a week and no response! guess if you are guilty no response is the best! read more
