One of my parks that I frequent once a week. The trail around the park is a mile, so u can plan your run/walk with ease. They have another trail, where 5 laps equals to 2 miles. The park itself is pretty busy with patrons and other soccer players. Tons of matches and practices are happening. There is a little playground also along with a sheltered picnic area. Lighting is decent at night. The park does close around 10ish. read more

Very pretty smaller park with a fountain and a quiet walking trail that goes around the pond. 5 times around the trail is 1 mile. Very peaceful and a nice visit on a day with pretty weather. Fortunate that today was one if them. Many ducks! Recommend if you want to take a short stroll. read more

Maybe I haven't given Eldridge park a fair shake *shrug* but it just isn't that great. It is definitely huge and caters to the needs of soccer playing children in the area, but the landscaping and terrain has much to be desired. I live not far away and rarely visit this park. The place is overrun on some days with children playing sports, etc... I think of this park like much more of a sports area than a "park". There is a long running train and a bunch of soccer fields. there are also bathroom facilities and parking. I visit this park every year to drop off my Christmas Tree. This is one of two locations set up by the city of Sugar Land for Christmas tree recycling. In the parking lot there is a single sign and a huge pile of trees where you can leave yours. Your tree has to be free of any metal, tinsel, ornaments, etc... The city will recycle the tree and turn it into mulch. Years ago they actually had people out there mulching the trees on the weekend and you got a free bag of mulch in return for your tree. Now, you just drop it and go. Nice neighborhood park located in the older part of Sugar Land. There are large parking lots, covered area with panic tables, playground for the kiddos, numerous soccer fields, small pond for fishing, and two looping concrete walking/jogging trails. Not much in term of scenery with the exception of the pond, but good for people watching. I enjoyed my walking exercise at the park and wouldn't mind returning. read more

A great park to come hang out or walk your dog. The park is pretty big with an abundant of parking. There are tables under a canopy that you can chill and benches. There is also a nice fountain and wide area of grass where you can play sports. It wasn't crowded when we came on a summer afternoon. However, this Houston weather was simply too hot to sit and enjoy the scenery. read more

This park has a nice walking trail around the entire park and lake. There are plenty of soccer fields for people to enjoy and a playground. This park also has a multi purpose room to hold parties of many sorts. I'd definitely come here for a pick up game. read more

Eldridge Park is a public park with soccer fields, picnic areas, meeting facilities, a paved 0.4 mile loop trail around a pond, ducks, geese, restrooms, and a huge parking lot. In daylight, there are always people here whenever I drive by. Even at 2 pm under the hot bright Texas afternoon sun there are people walking. Sometimes there are so many people in the evenings that it feels too crowded but that shows how awesome this park is. Negatives are there are sometimes tons of kids running around or bullying the ducks and I prefer a gravel trail to the concrete trail path. Also, lots of annoying mothers with strollers like to walk slowly and lots of women walking side by side don't move to single file when people pass in the opposite direction. This park has a small sample of Houston's ethnic diversity. Also, people of all ages and fitness levels come here--elderly folks to toddlers and possible triathlete contenders to overweight sloths like me. The outer loop (back path along the fence perimeter and front path around part of the lake) is 1.07 miles. The loop around the lake is 0.4 miles. The lake is small but there are lots of waterfowl in it. Lots of domestic ducks have been dumped here throughout the year. Sure you have the herons, egrets, pelicans, seagulls, black-bellied whistling ducks, ring-necked ducks, and even wild mallards. However, there are a lot of domestic mallard derivatives and non-feral muscovies abandoned here by human owners. If you have unwanted ducklings or goslings, don't leave them at Eldridge Park. Eldridge Park is a terrible environment for ducks. There is not enough year-round tree and bush cover to provide the ducks with shade. The park should plant more trees that provide year-round shade for the ducks. The lakeshore is also too close to the driveway entrance to the parking lot and Eldridge Rd. I often find the ducks in the ditch right next to Eldridge Rd or the Walgreens parking lot. The ducks often cross the driveway entrance to find more shade or nutritious soils. The park should put up a "Ducks Crossing" sign to warn drivers to watch out for ducks. I have seen a dead muscovy-pekin hybrid duck on the side of the road once. In early 2014, an Egyptian goose was also killed by a car. The park is next to a Walgreens so you can buy stuff if you forget anything. The park parking lot is accessed from Eldridge Rd via Nantucket. Just turn west at the Nantucket traffic light (opposite direction from the Barrington Place neighborhood). read more

My favorite park in Houston!!! It makes running more enjoyable because I get to see the splendid fountain that spits out water continuously. On a windy day, the fountain provides a "cool off" method for me because I get a mist of water on my body as I circle around the fountain. The short running trail has a mile marker which I've never seen at any other parks. 2 miles = 5 laps around the short trail circle. One lap around the long trail = 1 mile. The park has two spacious restroom segregated for men and women. Nearby the restrooms...you can see a small playground for kids and a grass area mainly used for soccer games. To the left of the restroom, there is a small recreation room that is usually reserved for karate lessons, private party, and various events. There is another open grass area that is used by the non-soccer enthusiasts for other activities like Frisbee, baseball, and etc. Behind the small recreation room, there is an open seating area with benches and tables so you can have a small get together with your friends/family. The park usually gets crowded during the late afternoons-early evenings, but there is plenty of parking. A lot of people take their dogs here. They have two doggie bag stations so you can pick up your dog's #2 business. A great place to burn off calories, relax your mind, and hang out with your loved ones. Go check it out! read more

This park is good for jogging, waking your pet( they provide bag and trash can for your doggie's pooh). There are also a big field that I often see ppl play soccer over there. I love everything about Eldridge Park. My kid plays in Sugar Land Soccer Club, which is based at this field. The park is beautiful, complete with a small lake, ducks, pier, soccer fields, walking track, pavilion, play area for kids, decent restrooms, etc. Also, the pavilion is a great place to host a kids birthday party. They have plenty of soccer fields for the club, but also have a few for public use. Many of the fields light up at night, which is a big plus. The fields are well kept and are raised, so they drain pretty well. The place is safe, pet friendly, and there are always plenty of people out there exercising and having a good time. I have never felt unsafe there. I will always have great memories of this place because of the time I have spent there watching my son grow up. read more

This park is very nice and the ducks are very friendly. have a nice walking trail and they even have soccer fields to play volleyball and soccer in. They even have nice bathrooms and a covered awning area so that you can sit down and have lunch. there's plenty of benches everywhere so you can take a rest along the way. This is a very pleasant park to visit for many activities. Located off Eldridge, it is quiet for a spacious park and has relaxing views. The park is designed to provide activities for ages child to adult. There is a paved walking path of one inside loop and one longer outside loop where people can walk/jog/run and even bring their dogs for some activity. The path goes around a medium-large pond with a fountain. Several benches are placed along the path to allow rest and a chance to take in the scenery. The deck that overlooks the pond has benches for sitting and plenty of walking room. It is another tranquil aspect of the park where you can just empty your mind and be at ease. A playground is located in a separate area for children's amusement and the covered pavilion is perfect for a picnic or small family function. Bathrooms are near the playground and pavilion for convenience. Football nets are located in a field that can be utilized by youth teams or group of friends. Many cute ducks, coots and a couple of geese can be seen strolling in the grass, sleeping or paddling in the water. Signs are posted that ask you do not feed the waterfowl. This is a rule that should be followed for the health of the birds. Please note that sometimes the waterfowl like to venture into the parking lot and entrances so please be careful and drive cautiously so none of the bird friends will be injured. I especially like this park in the cooler months when the afternoon light is weaker, almost incandescent, and the suffocating humidity is low. For me this is the most peaceful condition for running and walking. read more

I prefer to do the longer loop because you're not stuck with the same scenery the whole time. There's cameras all around the parking lot so you can feel more safe. Only thing that sucks is that there isn't enough shade to run in. read more

My favorite part about this park is the trail, which loops around a beautiful pond. I used to love coming here in the evenings to get my daily workout in while I was on a running kick. There's nothing like running in such a gorgeous surrounding as the sun is setting. The only drawback is the mothers with strollers. Myself and the other runners would always find ourselves having to run in the grass every now and then since they tend to take up the entire trail at times, not leaving room for others to walk/run past them. This isn't a complaint against them since it's probably a nice outing for the kids and I can see how relaxing it is to the mothers. That being said, it's probably not a good idea to go there in the evenings if you plan on going there for a run. The afternoons or mornings are probably your best bet. read more

Loved this park, except for the overgrown, immature teenagers that chased the ducks away and then ran to the the ice cream truck when it came by. I had my tiny little one year old in my arms squirming to go to the ducks, but I was too afraid those boys would hurt her in some way (yes, they were that rough!) I used to jog in this park all the time. It's a very peaceful park. I recently went back, one time around 5 am and the other time around 9 pm. Both times there were not many people which I like. I like jogging there. I used to live close to there so I used to go a lot. Now I am farther, I will occasionally go there. It depends what you like. The trail around the lake is nice and if you like shorter routes. The one around the soccer field with the lake is longer and you jog a lot more. I gave it 4 stars because of the environment, the trail is paved, and the completion of my purpose there. read more

Love how big this park is. I don't think it can possibly get crowded unless it's Memorial day or July 4th -- great holidays for people to celebrate outdoors. 5 laps around the lake = 2.5 miles. The fact that it's big is nice because you get to watch all the different things happening (ducks in the pond, cars driving by, various people getting their exercise done, and even dogs!) so you don't really have a chance to get bored. Sometimes the lake creates mists, which helps cool down the environment on sunny days. There are plenty of tables, chairs, and public restrooms to accommodate for parties and gatherings. There are lots of goals for soccer games too. And the parking lot is huge! read more

This is a very busy neighborhood/city park. The main use is the soccer fields, which are always busy. There's also a small stage and sitting area, occasionally playing host to fitness classes. A walking/running trail runs around the entire park. There's a small pond if you want to sit and feed the ducks (though signs say not to; so perhaps just watch them). Dog-friendly park, though I do not recall seeing any dog bag stations, so be sure to bring your own. read more

I love this park. So many activities aside from just a nice stroll in the park along a beautiful path that leads around soccer fields and a kiddie park as well as a man made lake. The ducks that are at this park are not to be fed. There is a pavilion that can be reserved for occasions. There are bbq grills also for public use. Some of the fields are reserved for use by FFPS and possibly other leagues. There is also a clubhouse that has different classes throughout the week like karate and yoga. The bathrooms are what you expect at a park. I would say take your own water bottles since the water fountains are ancient. Although most of the trail is for jogging and walking and running you can always ride a small bike or walk your dog but please pick up their feces. Take care of yourself and give yourself a break by coming out to this small but peaceful park nestled between W. Belfort and W. Airport on the SW side of town. Occasionally there is an ice cream truck in the summer time so have the kids collect their spare change and bring it with them. If have a kite or a flying object there are places you can post up and fly away. read more

One of my favorite places to run, and probably one of the safest parks in Houston in my opinion. The fountain makes it feel really relaxing, and I love how you can do either a short loop (.40 mi) or a whole loop (a little over 1 mi). The only con is that it can get really packed and everyone tends to walk scattered on the trail. read more
