I came to Electric room with friends late on NYE and again on a Saturday night around 2am. On both occasions it was a lounge that never gets crowded, it's not really crowded at all actually. The DJ is very good, and it's a smaller lounge space, but it seems like the place you go to as an AFTER party much later in the night when you're winding down. read more

Hot Spot: Celebs like Miley Cyrus, Scarlett Johansson and Lindsay Lohan have been seen at this joint. Also NYC's in vogue, hipster night owls love this place. Best nights & time to visit: Best nights here are Monday (= currently my fave night. They spin deep house on Monday), Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and definitely SUNDAY night / model night when they only play hiphop. Don't show up at ER on Sunday night if you're not plugged into the nightlife scene, or if you don't have a big party budget, because they only offer 3 tables with bottle service that night, at around $600,- a bottle. Best time to show up is around 2 AM. Yes: Late. Crowd: Eclectic. Models, celebs, older NY rockstar die hards, but also kids that are barely drinking age, looking all trendy 'n shiat, making sure to look all unique, by tearing up their shirts in the right places before showing up, or cutting triangular shapes out of their leggings etcetera, all for the sake of looking 'cool'. Crowd is all in all still better than what you would find in the average NY night club. At ER, you'll find a lot of New Yorkers that actually really grew up here for a change. ER is a safe haven for NY's local hipsters, that is not yet trashed by too many tourists or B&T. Music: Other than on Sunday/model/hiphop night, mostly pop music you heard about 15 years ago ( Around the world, around the wo-horld... Around the...) Decent music style, something else for a change. This will be played by a live DJ that you probably have never heard of. Electric Room's Vibe: Sexy, dark and mysterious. Interior: Unique. British style. Chesterfield sofas, beautiful light fixtures. Interesting art on the walls. Small dancing space, I personally wouldn't mind it if they made things a little brighter here, because you can't see much with the dim lighting here. This makes checking people out, flirting and finding friends a tadbit harder than usual, but oh well... Bottom Line: Electric room is an above decent place to hang out. read more

Ughhhh I really don't wanna ruin its 4.5 stars but I have to be honest. Came here again with a group of friends at about 2 am on a Saturday night after a private party at Yotel (which was great!) It was PACKED as hell. There was barely standing room and I was being pushed around by people trying to get through all night. I couldn't dance without knocking someone's drink and spilling alcohol all over my Chanel and Herve Leger :( Remember I said it was intimate and mysterious?Well, I totally didn't feel it this time. It was still pretty packed by the time we left at about 4ish and there was no sign of closing. Anyways I was exhausted and couldn't wait to get out and crash on a couch or bed. Maybe I was a little weird but the crowds seriously made me feel claustrophobic. And it wasn't fun feeling like that! read more

I went here for a private event so I can't speak to the party atmosphere and such. The people at the door were really nice and so was everyone working the event. The decor reminds me of old school gentleman's club with all the leather and wood, so if that's what they were going for bravo. The paintings are not my thing, but that is all in personal taste. Seems like it's more of a lounge than a club atmosphere due to all the tables, but I enjoy lounges and liked the table setup. I can imagine my self coming with friends, dancing for a bit and returning to my section. I like it. If you don't have a table though, I imagine you may feel overcrowded when it gets fill. Even at a private event, it was hard for people to maneuver, and it was nowhere near capacity. All in all it seems like it would be a cool place to hang out for a little while, but I wouldn't see myself spending a whole night here. read more

I went to a Fashion Week party here in February. As someone who has partied extremely way too hard, but is now into other stuff, it was kinda like hanging out with the Ghost of Christmas Past. All the tropes were traipsed: -the inventive, broke-down entrance that makes you feel special for knowing that the seediness is actually the work of a CitiBike-riding art director -the open bar with the super-sweet signature drink of the night that contains little to no alcohol, but bitches still be acting mad drunk ehhhh -the mess of winter coats piled high on leather couches, people rifling through fifty identical black wool pea coats to find their own -the nightlife photographers, oh man, i'd forgotten about them! The weird power dynamics of who is bestowing whom with social cache. -frickin' heels man. -yelling into your friend's ear to be heard. Best club in NYC, hands down. We went to PHD, Provocateur, SL, & Electric Room on our most recent trip to NYC. PHD let everyone in. Provocateur was too dark and creepy. SL was a great time but way too small and packed. Alas! Electric Room. We went both nights (Fri & Sat) of Halloween weekend and both times were immediately let in. We waited behind a couple on the second night who had to pay a bar tab to get in $200 but we were let in no problem. We stayed at the Dream so maybe that helped but I think that regardless it is up to the discretion of the doorman. Inside we were greeted with the sounds of rock music! Yessss! It was a perfect blend between classic rock/indie/top 40's. The scene was awesome. It was not your pretentious asshole crowd but a more laid-back scene. As some of the tables weren't sold, we set up camp at one and had a blast. I was dancing on the couches and drinking all night (or until they sold they table and I moved to the next one). When all the tables were sold, we left as I was pretty tipsy by then anyways (3:00am ish). Needless to say, this is a late night spot. I can't really describe why I liked this place so much as I think it was just simply a great vibe. A huge plus to Electric Room, is that they cap the amount of people they let in to like 80 or 100 or something. This allows everyone inside to actually MOVE around and dance. It's hard to have a very memorable experience in a club when people are pushing you, spilling their drink on you, and overall adding to an uncomfortable experience. Electric Room was very comfortable. With that small amount of people that are allowed in, obviously it is quite exclusive. Getting here early is a plus. Next time I'm in town, definitely going to do a table here. read more

Horrible. The doorman was a racist jerk. He refused to let my friends and I inside for no valid reason. Unpleasant to say the least. In retrospect, I wasn't really that bothered considering the garbage this Doorman let in. Not my crowd at all. Also, the walkway leading into the club was atrocious and smelled like feces. Fun place. Went on a Thursday evening with a few friends as they were just opening. It was pretty empty at the time, but there was a DJ I was really feeling that was spinning remixes of 80's hits. We basically had the place to ourselves and danced our asses off. The servers were also getting down to the music which was also fun to look at. The decor is pretty funky which I liked. Wasn't really feeling that I had to pay 11 bucks for a beer, but hey, wasn't surprised given the venue and area. I'd go again. read more

I think the Dream Downtown and the whole 9th & 16th Street area is some of the coolest spots in the city. Tao, Electric Room, No.8, PHD... its all here. I like Electric Room because its entrance makes me feel like I'm going somewhere really different. Yes its as sceney as any of the other aforementioned spots, but Electric Room by virtue of its entrance alone seems less so. Everything else is pretty standard... the smokiness, great DJ and lighting, nice giant bathrooms... I like the phone charging stations which is nice. As per usual, beautiful people. I've been many times, but sometimes one forgets to review... One thing to know, though, is its not particularly big. Its actually rather small. Now, the area doesn't have expansive spots, but it is smaller... so if you're with a big group, may want to venture elsewhere. read more

Having heard so much about the electric room and the cool crowd it attracts we decided to check this place out; thankGod for our lucky stars we went to PHD before coming here. To sum up the experience it was like having a super bad dessert after a fab dinner. First of all it was half empty!!..On a busy sat night half empty? Secondly it smelt dingy which was not a good welcome. We stayed for 5 minutes and scanned the place, wanted to like it atleast but NAH, it wasn't what we had imagined It to be, so we left. The decor is wonderful but the crowd wasn't :-( I think they should up their game they need to! read more

This is a sort of "come as you are" type of establishment. You'll see a wide variety of people from hipsters to trust fund babies and everyone is sort of in their own little world, doing their own thing. Some might opt for dancing, some might opt for just sitting down and chatting, and some might opt doing drugs in the bathroom...the possibilities are endless. Regardless, it is a solid establishment that reminds me a great deal of Teddy's in Los Angeles. Teddy's is pretty much the best way I can describe Electric Room. read more

It was rather low key and not crowded but I was staying in the city that night so I was able to make it a late night. We had a table behind the DJ and service was great. Whatever we needed arrived timely and clean. The music was really good, played everything from rap remixes to some EDM. I definitely liked it more than Marquee. read more

The entrance is very alluring. It looks like it is straight out of Gaspar Noe's "Enter The Void". Very cool electric lights and a gritty, trippy feel. The decor is very cool. The couches and the punk rock pictures are something to be seen. I will admit it is quite small and gets fairly crowded but it's a fun time. I prefer this place over PHD. The crowd is more laid back and not try hard. The music ranges from very good indie (Phoenix, The Rapture) to some really odd and misplaced 90s jams to Michael Jackson. I also have to admit that the black light stamp is pretty awesome. read more

Came here on Friday night. Sweet vibe, really really small so unless you have a table don't go. Its full of tables. We were lucky and had a cool corner table, plenty of room. Tiny tiny, no real dance floor. Cool music, but not your club type of music, more like old school dancing, chill, chill. Very pricey $20/drink, so come knowing that. Ball it up. Been to the Electric room what seems like countless times by now, as many of my friends positively adore it. A solid low key but fun place, although I'm usually pretty tipsy by the time we make it here. I'd call it more of a lounge than a club...many artsy/hipster types They have some legit cocktails (including a ginger one i always forget the name of), and great door guys who always let you cut the line. That said, I've had some friends attempt to meet up and ended up next door at bungalow instead, as the door guy wasn't as nice to them, so at least there are convenient back ups. Apparently Lohan is often here, wasted and falling all over herself, although I've never noticed. Also, an interesting co-ed bathroom set up. Gets pretty crowded late night, but I've had fun both when its slower and you can actually sit down and spread out your belongings, and when standing/crammed in like sardines. Definitely a small space, so beware it fills up fast! read more

First time trying to get in clubs and we didn't understand the 'private party' at every door. The handsome Aussie doorman finally let us talk our way in for half price and grabbed our arms and delivered us through the crowd and told them to give us all the food and drinks we wanted. Small and cozy room downstairs in the Dream Hotel. Came here for a work event, so I was graced by an open bar, but saw that most of the liquor they had was of quality (no bad rails). There are several couches throughout the room, so if you get there early enough I'm assuming you can snag a good seat until reservations come into effect. In addition, food was served, and it was incredible. I'm not sure what the extent of ordering food down there typically is, but if you can, get the tacos. read more

This place is incredibly prejudice. I waited at the front of the line alone, calmly for 40 minutes while I watched them let all other women in besides me. I was the only black woman there. My friends were all inside and they were waiting for me but the bouncers refused to let me in. My friends, all white, had gone in 20 min before me and no questions asked no covers charged. Yet once I arrived the bouncer paid no attention to me , told him I was joining my party and he proceeded to tell me I needed to pay $100 or there was no way I would go in. After waiting patiently for 40 min I asked the bouncer why he was letting them all in and not me. I mentioned that I was a model(something I never mention), not to receive privilege but to highlight the ridiculousness of the situation. Letting random white girls in but not letting a black model in... my friend came out and they just argued with us, there was no line and yet they still didn't let me in, just for being black. Hands down my favorite club in in the city. The Electric Room really combines the energy and excitement of a larger club with the intimacy of a small lounge. I've been here many times (during the week and weekend) and I've never had a bad night. The Electric Room does an awesome job of curating a fun, interesting crowd and great music. The music is usually a blend of classic/indie rock (pairs well with the punk-themed decor) and dance tunes. They also have occasional hip-hop nights. This eclectic mix creates a really great atmosphere for dancing. Inside, the setting is kind of standard, New York club decor: chesterfield couches and low tables with UK punk-themed murals on the walls. The most noticeable thing is how small the room is... I think it only fits 100 people or so. But this is good; since the room is small, they cap the number of people admitted. There is still space to move around and dance, so the vibe is laid-back and fun, not aggressive and territorial. The crowd, including the staff, are generally very social and friendly. On multiple occasions, my friends and I have had people share their bottles with us. Again, super laid-back, friendly atmosphere here. This is a late night spot, things really get going around 3:00 AM. Definitely come late and stay even later! read more

the bouncers and outside staff are ruining this place. a bunch of people were waiting outside in the cold for at least 30 min all for the asshole bouncers to say that they are over capacity. but still letting in people on the side. does that make sense? all because you want to pocket 50 or 100 dollars? you think they would have the common decency to let people know ahead of time so your not freezing ur asses off. dont aggravate yourself with this place. there are better and bigger venues to go to read more
