It always feels good to support local businesses, but it's especially rewarding to support ones…read morethat are just getting started. When I went on Yelp looking for an electrician, Estiben and Brains Automation Homes didn't even have any reviews yet! It's always a little risky to go with a business with no reviews, but something told me Estiben knew what he was doing, and I can definitely say I made a good choice in selecting him for my home project. I had been wanting to replace the old and ugly outlets and switches in my home, and decided to get a few quotes just to see what I would be getting myself into. Brains Automation Homes offered a competitive estimate and got the job done exactly as I had requested and quickly (I was able to schedule an appointment the same week I started looking for an electrician). It turns out Estiben is a one-man show breaking out on his own and trying to build up his business (hence, not many reviews). He's licensed, competent, and friendly. He knew exactly what I was talking about when I mentioned I might want to replace an outlet with one that had USB ports. As the business name indicates, Brains Automation Homes has experience with hooking up smart homes, so you know Estiben is knowledgeable about some of the latest tech. For my project, Estiben arrived on time, was very polite, got the job done well, and cleaned up after himself. In all, he replaced two regular outlets, two outlet-switch combinations with GFCI, two double light switches, two single light switches, and a three-switch contraption in the bathroom that connects to the light, the fan, and a heater. The bathroom switch was a late add-on (I thought it might be too complicated), but Estiben had all the necessary parts, so he was able to take care of it then and there. I have a few more electrical projects in mind, and I won't hesitate to contact Brains Automation Homes when the time comes.

I hired Boaz Electric to do two things: 1.) rewire some cables in my master bedroom. 2.) replace out the old outlets with new ones. The owner name is Rudy and he is the one who completed the job. He also mentioned that he doesn't patch walls - this point is very important as you're reading my review. Without my consent, Rudy cut open my master bedroom closet drywall and didn't even bother patching them up. I understand he doesn't patch walls but why cut open my master bedroom closet? In addition, he left my house with a mess, used outlets throughout my house, dust everywhere, and debris from the drywall all over my closet. This part is purely my mistake. I didn't make a big fuss about the mess Rudy left behind in my house because I figured that he'll come back to do one more round of clean up. So I gave him the final check. Bad mistake. Rudy collected the final payment and refused to 1.) patch the walls and 2.) do a final clean up. Instead, he said, "this is not my job, you go find someone else". It's very clear that Boaz Electric took advantage of my kindness here. I've asked 1 electrician and 1 contractor to come out to review the work completed by Rudy. They both agreed that this is poor quality work and it's an unacceptable job. Matter of fact, they also confirmed there's an easier way to rewire the cables, cut some holes and fish the wires to the other side of the wall. Simple! But Rudy failed to do so. Please see attached photos of the damages in my closet caused by Boaz Electric. I texted Rudy and expressed my frustration on his work and requested he take 1/2 of the financial responsibility for the repairs. No reply. Please see attached text exchange. I tried calling Rudy again and again. He finally answered and I purposed that we find a solution that we both can agreed to and he refused. In addition, he yelled at me over the phone, "I told you I don't care! This is your problem and not mine. Don't call me again!". Rudy nonstop yelling at me over the phone as if I'm the one who destroyed his house. Very unprofessional. Please take your business elsewhere.

Rudy came to my house and I showed him all the things I need to get done, the next day he texted me a top level estimate for everything. I told him I'll review with my dad and get back to him, fast forward 2 weeks later I reach out to him via text and ask if we can just have some things done first and how much each item would be, then the rest later, but he didn't reply. I tried texting again and calling to no avail, and he even has his read receipts on his text so it shows that he read my text but chose not to reply. A simple No or reply would have been ok with me rather than leaving me hangin, very unprofessional.

I understand he can be fairly busy (he's only one guy after all) but if he can do the work in the timeframe you need it done, his attention to detail and encyclopedic knowledge of the minutae of the electrical codes is well worth it -- both in the execution and in the all-important event of dealing with the inspector. I will be using Jeff until he finally decides to hang up his wire strippers.

I was looking for a retrofit from flourescent to LED for my kitchen as the ballasts finally reached…read moretheir end life. I reached out to multiple vendors (including the diamond directory) and most of them suggested to replace the entire fixture itself ($800+). I suggested a ballast bypass to which I was rebuffed multiple times or just declined outright. I figured it just wasn't worth the hassle and decided to look from someone to just replace the ballast and keep the exiting tubes. I reached out to Jesse at All In Electric to where he stopped by the same day to do an assesement and quote. It took Jesse one look and not even one minute and said he can change out the ballasts no problem but he suggested I do a ballast bypass to LED which is what I was looking to do in the first place and quoted me a much more reasonable price then the other vendors. Jesse came back 2 days later and had the bypass and new LED lights up and running in 40 minutes. Very pleased with his workmanship and I cannot stress how friendly and professional he is.

I found Luis (Mancer Builders) on Craigslist while looking for quotes for a small concrete project…read morethat I needed done. This was after getting various quotes from non licensed to licensed contractors. Most contractors would not do less than 2 yards of concrete, but Luis understands the value of a positive word of mouth. He scheduled a free on site estimate and quoted me a very reasonable amount that was right in the middle of the quotes I had already received. On the same day he scheduled an exact day and time to do the work. Not only is Luis very professional; he is also very punctual and responsive. He replies to all my text messages in a timely manner and communicates every detail so there are no surprises. The same can not be said about other contractors who gave me the run around and stopped replying to my messages. After the work was done, I could not be more pleased of the outcome. The concrete looks great and is exactly what I wanted. Give your business to Mancer Builders, you won't regret it.
