It was the most expensive of 3 estimates we received to do our floor at $1,195 to do 325 sq feet. We had estimates as low as $750. Our floor was actually in fairly good condition but had spots like I attached that I wanted sanded, filled if that didn't work, and then sealed. We want to sell and I wanted the floor to be in good condition. We went with Mr. Haugland's company because he was very professional, had good reviews, and even showed me pictures of the men who would be in my house. The men whom would be completing the work came in on November 4th, 2017 at 8am. They got the key from our neighbor, since I have two small children and you need to be out of the house. They spent 4 hours doing the work per our neighbor. He said at 11:45, one of the men came over to tell him they were doing the sealant and almost done. 15 minutes later brought the key back. We came home at 2pm the next day, since we had to stay off the floors for 24 hours. Upon getting home at first glance the floor looked nice. Upon further inspection the dark spot on our boards and holes/knicks in the wood were not fixed. The only reason I wanted our floors fixed was to fill the knicks/holes professionally. I wasn't unhappy about the color just the knicks. I immediately called Tim on a Sunday, and he did call back. I was impressed by him calling back, I was upset on the phone and he assured he or his men would come out on Monday. And I emailed him my concerns and pictures. Tim informed me that we had the thinnest veneer wood there was and they were lucky to be able to the job. He also said that our subfloor being level was the only reason they were able to do it. He also said the dark spot would not be able to be fixed even though its outlined, "Boards with dark stains not removed by sanding will be replaced." He said because of my subfloor this was not possible. On Monday the workers came back to fix the floor with a towel and minwax, they left us the can. They did not seal over the patches. They also told my husband they almost walked away because of our wood. I was using minwax prior to having the floor done, as you can see with the spot I included in a picture that they sealed over one of my patches. When my husband called Mr Haugland back he said we never told him about the spot so basically he wasn't doing anything about it and to enjoy the floor. So the entire reason I agreed to invest $1,195 in my floor could have been fixed with a bit of time and a $2.48 can of putty since the stains could not be fixed. I fully understand that aome things can't be fixed, but upon entering my home and realizing they couldn't sand down the spots I wanted fixed and chose not to fill the holes/knicks prior to putting on the satin finish, and the inability to fix the stained spot. I would have thought we would have received a call to confirm we still wanted the work done, but we didn't receive a call. But we did get fully charged.

But I can't sit in my tub or stand in my bathroom without seeing the mess that I paid good money for. This company is called top notch and yet I received some bottom rung remodeling work. Michael was referred to me by a friend who had his company do work in her house. She assured me that he and his team were the best in the business when it comes to tile work and remodeling. But it has become clear to me that I was sent the B team on my project. I'm sure in their world my $20,000 project wasn't worth the time because someone was probably spending more than that, so their efforts went there. Let's start by the false promises made. I hired Michael in September of 2022. Michael told me that they couldn't start my project until March of 2023. I immediately said, no I can't wait that long because another clown of a contractor already messed up and my bathroom was in ruins. To get my money, Michael promised he could move things around and start in Jan/Feb. I really wanted to work with him based on the recommendation so I agreed. The project was started on March 13th, so I ended up waiting anyway. The 2 workers in my house that did everything, tile, electric, plumbing, painting, etc were very nice but clearly are handymen and not professionals in any of those specific fields. Every single fixture in my bathroom has leaked since completion of the project - sink which ruined the vanity and they had to replace it, toilet the first time I used it, drain under the tub which leaked into my living room ceiling and ruined it, and the shower door that leaks out water every time I open it. You might be thinking, oh, that's the door that's a problem, but it's not. The curb from the shower is angled out so the water pools at the door and then floods out when I open it. The leaks were seemingly fixed but Michael didn't even address the improperly angled curb. He ignored it which means I just have to live with it I guess. The tile work is incredibly sloppy, with black grout from the floor smeared up the sides of the walls. The ceiling and wall drywall are messy and have cracks and lines in them. I'm basically waiting for the next thing to fail. My living room ceiling that was ruined from the tub leak was patched horribly. The workers also wanted to just paint the patch they made. I had to force them to paint the whole ceiling to make it look somewhat presentable. And, before they even fixed the ceiling they tried convincing me that the leak was from something else (my chimney, a tree root?, me being too rough in my tub and breaking its seal with Michael throwing in a dirty and inappropriate sex joke). Michael had the nerve to ask me to book another bathroom remodel with me in tears while his crew was tearing apart my living room. Michael is a schmoozer. He talks and smiles and pretends to care. I never was fooled by him but I let him make his over the top gestures all the while thinking, who cares, if he does the job right? But the job wasn't done right. And to top it off, he got into a screaming match with my friend who stood up for me and called him out on his BS. Instead of profusely apologizing to me for what he put me through, I haven't heard from Michael since. Think long and hard before spending thousands of dollars with this company. My bathroom is beautiful, thanks to my design, but it is tainted every time I see their shoddy work.

They did a good job on the kitchen's luxury vinyl flooring, and we have friends that like their work. I will not give anyone their number until our carpeting has been fixed, I do not know what can be done to fix this trouble. I think they do not want to call back, because the carpeting needs to be replaced.
