Today was a big day for my daughter.. she got her first "crown" tooth & she's so proud!…read more However, I don't recommend Dr. te Duits (Dr. T) at Children's Dental Center of Madison S.C. in Fitchburg. He performed this procedure very quickly & efficiently, but his approach was very forceful and unpleasant. I admit, I failed as a mom to stand up for my daughter at the time as I was in shock and disturbed by how he was handling her. All I could think of doing at the time was to hold my daughter down and comfort her, so she wouldn't agitate this Dr anymore. My daughter was struggling to follow his directions and commands, because she was nervous and scared. She would lift her head and arms up, and he would forcefully push it back down. He then realized that she wasn't going to do what he said, so he forced her mouth open, and even scolded at her a few times to "LISTEN TO ME!" I was so upset, I went and held my daughter's arms down and comforted her throughout the entire procedure. When we checked out, I requested for a new Dr, preferably a female, since this visit was traumatizing for my daughter and I. The receptionist said she'll call me and let me know if that was possible. When they called me back they told me "both dr's do the same things, so if we switch, it wouldn't make a difference." They suggested that I could contact another facility of their's at a different location. *wow. & no I will not. Apparently, they like to be forceful on all of their little patients. Anyway - after the appointment, I left the facility balling my eyes out because not only did I failed to protect my daughter, I let this Dr violate her, push her around, shove her down. we've contacted the office manager, and they said they'll speak to him. I've read reviews and spoke with people that used to work at this facility and they all have agreed that this Dr can be "aggressive". There's no excuse to treat little patients, or anyone in general, this way! And we're happy to take our services elsewhere.

From the moment we stepped in the building, the pain that was killing my 8 year old vanished...into thin air, and the fun ensued, the atmosphere and staff were pretty high energy and in the "pleasing little customers" business. It was magical. We were taken to our exam room by Andrea(I believe her name was). She was delightful, and clear in her answers and paid close attention to the requests and needs of my son. Dr. Eric came in and showed me exactly what they would do from the exam to the extraction step by step before they did it. They made sure my son felt safe and ok with what they wanted to do. They extracted the tooth, gauged him up and sent us on our way. This is a great place for kids and families.

After my first appointment though, I am (mostly) not dreading my follow up appointment! The building itself is straight out of Better Homes and Gardens magazine, very comfortable and clean with obvious aesthetic appeal that made me look at my own home decor in envy. They have a very comfortable waiting room with some fun things for anyone who might have some nervous kids - or adults who are kids at heart. The staff was very easy to talk to and professional. They answered my laundry list of questions, some of which probably toed the line on what is and what is not their actual responsibility. Special thanks to Sky who helped me feel calm and at home as we watched a cooking show on the tv above the patient chair (nice!). Lastly, the complete transparency during checkout was really a huge selling point. They showed me a complete breakdown for my follow up appointment so that I could make adjustments as needed and avoid any awkward sticker shock conversations. Thankfully, my insurance covered most of my appointments, but I know that is not always the case for everyone; the transparency during scheduling is telling of their business model! I hope I don't have to do be soon, but if I do I know I will be in good hands!

The RHD who did his cleaning was incredibly engaged, thoughtful and kind to my child. She explained each step, showed him how all the equipment worked, and moved slowly and gently as she did the cleaning- while still talking him through each step. He had fun, laughed throughout, and felt in control of himself. On a previous experience with my 10 year old- much the same- They had a terrible time with the last provider and was absolutely traumatized before so getting them through the door the first time here was full of trepidation. Those fears and concerns were immediately relieved as soon as the tech came to talk to my child. My child even allowed a tender spot to be worked on and injecting a numbing agent- This kid is terrified of needles- they administered them with very little pain!- because the tech was gentle and kind and thoughtful with the work they were doing to ensure minimal discomfort. I absolutely recommend Maple Grove Dental for anyone with children. They understand patient care.

You can schedule online or the old fashioned way (phone). Their offices are on the near west side on Odana Road and easy to get to with plenty of parking. Their offices are soothing and comfortably lit--good for the whole family. My dentist and her team are very knowledgeable, welcoming and did not deride me for not getting more regular dental care. My initial visit - - and some fillings later - - proceeded on time, efficiently and successfully with no pain. I was particularly impressed with how well my dentist and her hygienists worked together as a team.
