Lucy did an amazing job and made me feel so comfortable when altering my wedding dress. She hemmed the bottom, shortened the straps so the back would lay flat, and added a bustle (for about $750). I went in a total of three times- the first to do an initial try-on, the second to add the bustle and make sure things were fitting well, and the third to pick up, although even on the third visit Lucy had good suggestions and asked me to come back in about 30 minutes so she could make a quick fix/adjustment. I was referred to Elegant Alteration from my former fiance's (now husband) suit guys right before we got married. Lucy did a fantastic job with my wedding dress. She took the strap up a little, added bustling to the train and hemmed the bottom. I absolutely loved how she bustled the back of the dress and took all of the lacing into consideration. Since then, I have taken my bridesmaids dress (bridesmaid at best friend's wedding), a couple of cocktail dresses and pants to get altered and they turn out perfectly. I have been here in the past and worked exclusively with Lucy who was great. Today I took my daughter in to have 2 shirts altered and the man there was absolutely rude and told us he does not alter women's clothing and we have to come back when Lucy is in the shop. What?Needless to say we just went someplace else and had an excellent experience. This place is expensive and in the past it seemed worth the cost but after today I will not be going back. I recently tried this place out to alter a bridesmaid dress and a pair of little boy dress pants. The owner is very nice, and the location is convenient to downtown Parker, so those are the positive aspects. I hate saying negative things about small businesses, because they're so valuable to the community, and because it can really effect the owner's livelihood, but I have to be honest about my recent experience here and say a couple of critical things on the experience. I apologize if this seems harsh, and I did spend a couple weeks debating this before deciding to post, but I wanted other customers to know in advance so they can at least be aware before going in. First, and most impactful, this place is EXPENSIVE. So, so pricey. I spent $200 for the following: Pulling in the skirt of the dress 2" at the seam to be less full. Adding a dart to each bra cup to prevent spillage of bosom at the ceremony. Bringing in the waist of the boy pants by 1.5" That was it. The cost of altering the items far exceeded the cost of the items to begin with, and when she handed me the tag to pick up the items, I didn't know the cost was on it until I got home and it was too late. I had figured it would be under $100 to do those fairly simple things (and $100 was on the very generous side), and was in absolute SHOCK when I saw the cost. I about cried, but at that point what can you do? She'd already begun the work. Then, when I received the items, the bust was about 1" too tight, and the new seams on the dress and the boys pants were literally a single, not reinforced at all, line of stitches. Which, if you've ever met a little boy, isn't anywhere near enough to cut it for long term wear. My friend sews professionally but was out of town at the time, and when she got back and looked at the seaming and the price tag she yelped like I'd just kicked her and told me that I got majorly taken to the cleaners on it. I will say that the places she put the stitches and the seam lines were clean, so it's clear that she knows what she's doing and is a capable and talented tailor and seamstress, but if I had it to do again, I would have asked for a reinforced seam on at least the boy pants, about 1" more space in the bust, and I would have asked her how much it was going to cost and paid no more than $100 for the service. So if you're going in, ask her how much she'll charge you before leaving! And maybe save the kids clothes for a cheaper, more kid-friendly tailor. read more

I had a MOB dress that needed to be altered from full floor length to a hi-low length. Lucy was very accommodating I felt very comfortable with her skills ( she was recommended by a local Bridal shop) . She did exact what we talked about and the tread matched perfectly, you would not have know the dress wasn't originally made that way. She was able to get a quick turnaround and even delivered a week sooner than quoted. I will go back and highly recommend. read more

I needed a zipper fixed/replaced on a longish down winter jacket. The original zipper was gray plastic with two way functionality. Of course, the color matched the gray jacket perfectly, but I didn't expect the replacement zipper to match perfectly - just close enough to not look stupid. The replacement zipper is gold/brass metal that can only zip one way. It's ugly with the gray jacket. But the most frustrating part is not being given any options or say in what the replacement zipper would look like and having to pay for work that I don't like. If you're going here, ask lots of questions and don't settle for vague answers before you leave your garment. read more

I have a leather jacket that I've had for 25 years. I love the jacket!! The leather is in great shape, but the lining was torn badly, including one of the pockets. I brought it in and they told me they could make a new lining. I figured even a decent remade lining would at least make the jacket wearable. When I picked up the jacket I was speechless!! The lining included the original labels and inside pockets and is AT LEAST as good as it was when it was brand new. I have no doubt I will get at least another 25 years out of this jacket. I purchased my daughter's second wedding dress at The Bridal Collection on County Line Road. We used a tailor for the needed alterations the bridal shop recommended: Elegant Alterations, 6842 S University Blvd, Centennial, CO 80122 303-721-9339 Lucy did a fantastic job on the alterations and only charged $200! I didn't have to pay until the final fitting when we picked the dress up and were satisfied with results. Lucy had to alter the top, hem the front and bustle the dress. The new dress had 3 layers of organza for the top skirt, a main satin layer and a built in slip with an extra layer of ruffled tulle to hold the skirt out. We went in for a total of 4 fittings so Lucy could make sure the hem was correct. She did all of this within one week as my daughter's first dress was ruined by a different tailor and we had only 10 days from first fitting/estimate until the wedding! I highly recommend you go to Lucy for any alterations you might need. Lucy's work is excellent and her customer service skills superb! read more

I have a jacket in need of a new zipper to them on Saturday morning, January 2. The owner said it would be ready the following Saturday. I went to pick it up Saturday afternoon, January 9. They had not started the work. The owner apologized, she said it would be complete by the end of the day, and they would call me to confirm when it was ready. I did not receive a phone call. I called them Monday, January 11 at 10:00 a.m. and the owner said the jacket was ready. I drove to the shop ~ almost 20 miles each way ~ and the jacket was not ready! In fact the zipper replacement was not even started! Again she apologized and said it would be ready by the end of the day. I was furious, asked for my jacket, left the shop, and will never return! read more
