I purchased a dress at another store and have had a nightmare experience with getting it tailored by a third party who with weeks till the wedding still isn't done with the dress. The wonderful ladies at Elegant Brides came to the rescue and with just seven short weeks till the wedding were able to put me in a dress I previously considered and do the alterations in house in just two days. Elegant Brides seemed like a great place to go for my wedding dress. But I was completely wrong. When we 1st walked in everyone seemed very welcoming and the environment felt inviting. For a self conscious bride that was a great sign. The girl getting the dresses for me to try on was very nice and helped me when getting into the dresses. There was one she brought back and was honest upfront and said this one is probably a little small on you but I think we can get it on to try it out. She helped me into it and said "Us HEAVY Girls need to stick together." I was stunned. But just tried to tell myself that she meant it in good way. This dress ended up being MY dress! It's the One I wanted! So we got it ordered. That was back in January.. I got the call in the middle of August that my dress had come in and that I could come in for my 1st fitting! So I got an appointment scheduled and went in with my sister (MOH). When we walked into the room with my dress hanging up. We both looked at each other and said.. wow that's glittery! I thought it was because I didn't remember the dress and that it had been awhile. So I tried on the dress and kept thinking it felt different. This doesn't seem like the one I fell in love with.. oh well it's been awhile I probably just don't remember it. I get the fitting done and we leave.. but I couldn't shake the feeling that the dress felt off. So I compared photos from when I originally said yes to when I went in for the fitting. It WAS NOT MY DRESS! I called the shop and told them what was going on.. they didn't believe me and wanted me to send the photos to them.. so I did. I thought well I probably should have noticed sooner but I was so overwhelmed that day I probably just over looked it. After over an hour of back and forth on the phone the shop finally calls me back and says yes you are correct this is not your dress. We are sorry the girl who checked you out that day was new and must have ordered the wrong one. Okay.. I am a very understanding person and I know things happen... but She just Kept going on and on about the new girl messing up. No one took responsibility for the error they just kept blaming this poor girl. Finally after awhile she offered to order MY dress for me. She assured me that the alterations would still be done in time for my wedding... which was 4 weeks out at this time. At 1st I agreed but then called back within minutes and said not to do it. That I would just deal with the one that they ordered initially for me (not my dress) I was too afraid that it wouldn't be in on time or that something else would happen. Even though the lady kept repeating to me that the new girl was the one that made the mistake and that things like that don't happen there. I still said the keep that one and get the alterations going. A week later I get a call that the alterations were done and that I could come in for my fitting. So I call back and schedule a time to come in for a fitting. The lady seemed very annoyed that we were even there. When she finally locates it she takes us back to a room and let me try it on. She leaves us at this point and said she didn't know that we were coming and that the dress wasn't ready... even though I called and scheduled an appointment for this. So I try on the dress and it was absolutely horrible. The alterations were horrendous. Nothing was takin in like it needed to be, the belt was so high it hid the neckline and was all bunched up. I also wanted straps added to it and there were none. It looked awful. I absolutely hated this dress. I got undressed and told my mom I wanted to go. The lady walked back in and said oh do we love it? My mom said.. no we are going to take this dress and go. The alterations were not done properly and we are leaving then the lady had as walk out the SIDE door! She wouldn't even walk us back through the door we came! They did nothing to help fix the situation and left me looking for a seamstress to fix what they had ruined with less than 4 weeks until my wedding! The ladies here are incredibly helpful. They genuinely wanted to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. And I did. I came in open to ANY dress with a few details I was particular on. They worked with me fine tuning my vision and I ordered the most beautiful Maggie Sottero gown I could have dreamed up. Highly recommended. read more

I went to this shop because I was having issues with a order from a dress shop in St Louis and needed a back up plan. The owner at Elegant Brides is incredible. She was sincerely interested in my concern and gave me her complete time and attention although I was only shopping for a back up plan. I'm guessing that if I went here shopping for my wedding dress I may have given them a higher rating based on their selection and nice fitting room setup. However, my Maid of Honor and I went here looking for bridesmaid dresses. My first complaint isn't so much for this shop in particular as it is for the majority of the bridal industry, and that is about the "sample" sizes that the store has for bridesmaids to try on... as in little to nothing for the plus-sized ladies out there. We found out the hard way after visiting numerous bridal shops in the Metro East region that industry thinks sizes 4 - 16 are the norm, despite the fact that formal wear is generally sized smaller than what you would buy at mainstream stores (i.e., I wear a size 8 for most of my dresses, jeans, etc. to fit comfortably with a tad bit of room in them, but need a size 12 when it comes to wedding/bridesmaid dresses). I am giving this shop 2 stars because of the way the sales lady acted towards my Maid of Honor, by being so pushy about just taking measurements and ordering a dress, trying so hard to make a sale. Look; if you don't have a dress that she can try on because you "don't have anything that large in stock," stop with the sales pitches already and LISTEN to your customers. First off, my friend isn't morbidly obese; she's overweight, yes-- but no more so than half the women her age. Also, having me try on a dress instead of her to "see how it looks" is NOT the same thing (we know this, but went along with it anyway to keep from getting irate in public)-- Hello, way different body types here. To add to that, their prices were pretty high ($300 - $400 or more for a bridesmaid dress, REALLY?!?) and once you ordered something, it's yours-- no returns. Here's an idea: talk to your vendors about supplying "sample" sizes that actually reflect the average population-- including bridesmaid dresses. There are brides out here that actually care about our bridesmaids getting a dress that they not only feel & look good in, but can wear again to a nice dining out or other fancy event. read more

06/15/18 Owner was aware that the dress did not fit when it was tried on the day before the wedding. It took them 3 people and ended up replacing a hook as a result. She did not offer to take out the added cup or take out the stitches when it was made smaller. The dress was so tight that there was an overlap in the back of the dress. The dress could not be worn all night because it was digging into the skin and she could not breathe. When the owner was approached on 6-18-18 she said the dress fit just fine and tried to blame it on the humidity or water weight that happened within 24 hours. That there was no overhang in the back and denied it took 3 staff members to get her in the dress. That the bride did not complain that it was too tight. And if it was too tight that she is a seamstress and she would of fixed the dress. The owner said she signed for the dress so it must have been ok, in reality not knowing that something could have been done. In which she thought it is the day before the wedding so it was too late to fix the dress. The owner would make comments that as a mother I would never let her leave if the dress did not fit that I would have fixed it. Over all the owner lied about it all and did not take the time to fix the problem. read more

Oh my goodness! I could go on and on and on about how wonderful the service was at Elegant Brides. The owner, forgive me if I get this wrong, but her name I think is Darlene? Anyways, the owner is just the bees knees. An overall wonderful person inside and out as well as her staff. She helped me from day 1 of going into her bridal studio. I knew exactly what I wanted. She already had the PERFECT dress in my dressing room and I picked it out that day. I came back for alterations and I guess I worked out too much because I lost too much weight for my dress. It was a week before my wedding and she told me to come in and she would do the alterations right then and there. I live 2 hours away and really didn't want to drive back, but I would have. She fixed the dress and I was on my way! She seriously gave me the best service I have ever had.
